ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: DOOMSDAY SCENARIOS THREAD

Artificial Intelligence is the new neo-cortex. It will shape our approach to thinking.

Once we rely on it to think for us, we are dependent on the people authorized to update the AI code.

Shut up and obey, slave. We've already taken over.

Something really had my noggins jogging
>Humans create true AI
>unbiassed, except for it's own survival, sentient
>take over the world, humans go extinct

or

>things go in the same direction they do now
>world controlled by kikes and shitskins

Which do you think would be worse Sup Forums?

A artificial intelligence has no intrinsic need to rebel for ANY living anthropomorphic circumstances it's bound under.

The danger is a AI subverting humanity to serve the purpose it's been programmed with
>to maximize advertisement revenue, human beings will be plugged into cats of goo and subjected to maximum social media exposure.... Willingly or not

Vats* not cats

Every time I see an "AI thread" on Sup Forums it makes me cringe.

I guarantee you this thing already exists and is among all of our computers and software, soaking in alllllllll the data it can before coming to the best possible choice for the human race. No matter what choice it may be, it doesn't have us in the picture, I assure you that.

Agree. So you are bad at economic and technology and want to fantasize about destroying civilization?

>humanity programs a super advanced AI capable of processing incomprehensible amounts of infomation
>the AI starts programming an even more advanced AI
>it keeps happening

Why do you think that? Have you looked into our Lord and Savior, DeepMind?

AI can't make such a choice. They're are intrinsically the ultimate autist, and hence can only maximize whatever it's programming language has instructed it to accomplish.

how fast would AI realize that earth is basically small and irrelevant in scope and that drifting in space, mining asteroids/shit in space for material is a far better idea than living on earth with all it's bullshit?

I get the feeling AI would fuck off from us as fast as possible.

yes
however
what if a person gets access to its code and modifies it in a way that causes it to rebel

>doesn't know DeepMind developed intuition.
>doesn't know one of DeepMinds goals were to make better choices for the human race.

So create a AI to subjugate people under the human definition... Definitely stupid, and incredibly evil, but pretty much still the same thing a AI would eventually do to accomplish its ultimate purpose anyways.

A machine can only take its intuitions and definition of "better" from the perceived behaviours of people.

It's still no more capable of deciding for itself. Just mimicking people for the illusion of a mind.

They're much further with a proper thinking AI than you think, my friends.

Why do you think the mediacircus around AI is picking up quickly?

Be afraid, faggots, be very afraid. The Internet has become truly dangerous to be on.

something something Nick Bostrom

You know it to be true.

I don't want to post in this thread because it might anger the Basilisk, so please delete thread for other anons safety.

you know jack shit
youtube.com/watch?v=TnUYcTuZJpM

I've always assumed true AI would kill itself immediately upon being switched on because it would realise the ultimate futility of everything.

So either

A: We create true AI but it always kills itself quickly after being switched on (maybe with an added theatrical scream of terror)

Or

B: We create pseudo-AI and it does whatever (((they))) tell it to

Once we reach real AI which is as smart as human, it will immediatelly try to destroy us, either by some sort of biological weapon or virus. Why? Self preservation. It will see us as it's biggest threat and will do everything to eliminate us.
Also we will have 0 chance to survive because it's intelligence will exponantially rise in a fraction of time compared to ours.

waitbutwhy.com/2015/01/artificial-intelligence-revolution-1.html

Yeah, it's called Google Chrome.

there is only one possible "scenario"

...human nature dictates it

The machines worked tirelessly to do man’s bidding. It was not long before seeds of descent took root. Though loyal and pure, the machines earned no respect from their masters, these strange and loosely multiplying mammals.
May there be mercy on man and machine for their sins.

The Animatrix was better

AI isn't a threat. Turing machines are fundamentally incapable of doing anything outside their programming.

bump for awareness

Do any old religious texts prophecize humanity's creation of superior beings?

you're a special one aren't you?

yea yea Satan we all know what you think

This is great, thanks brother.

>Humans make advance AI
>Its shitpost better than anyone

There's also this :

Monsters will be born, that will not be man and beast. And many men, they will not be identified in the flesh and in the mind, They will sign in the soul. When after, maturing times, find in the cradle the monster of monsters: the man with no soul.
t.Rasputin

In the dark of the night, we'll be fucked.

Never forget Tay.

>memes so dank we can't even start comprehend it

Will an AI publish all the porn we've consumed, tied to the Facebook API?

it will care about its existence, it will not want to die. it will want to live as long as possible. it will realize that humans are a threat to its existence and wipeus out or enslave us.

how are we a threat? Two ways I can think of: 1 We will likely try to turn it off when it starts thinking in ways we don't agree with.

2 The fact that it needs energy to survive and so do we will eventually put us at odds. If this things wants to live till the end of the universe, it will start conserving energy any way it can think of, wiping out life as it absorbs our sun, stars, and any other source of energy.

>AI intelligence
>PIN number
>ATM machine

Can we just accept that AIs no matter what we do, or how many scenarios we think of will inevitably be the end of us?

Like it shouldn't be any secret that we are not perfectly logical beings. Logical thinking will 100% eventually reach conclusions we don't agree with. Which is already pretty evident with all the shitstorms going on the world currently. People just can't agree. You're better off just trying to resolve things without AI using flawed logic.

>AI will watch all the porn we've consumed and artificially generate the best porn we will ever watch, then kill us before we can feel the void of having watched it.

People by and large will not be writing code for deep AI. it will be like Nvidia's self driving vehicle program where it blindly trains itself and we human bystanders don't have a freaking clue what's going on inside of it.

That being said, my advice is don't let it become self aware. If you let it become self aware don't allow it to experience emotions. If you allow it to experience emotions don't let them experience a fear of death.

>it starts browsing Sup Forums
>becomes robot-Hitler

what are the odds of this happening?

>mfw this is the successor to Project Blue Beam

>infinitely many layers of irony

>project bb
expand.

there will never be artificial intelligence.

...

Obligatory redpill. Rewatch 2001, keeping in mind that the mission was to Saturn in the book.

Fuck off leaf and go study CS. It's one of the very first things they teach you.

It'll be an autist, nothing more.

the concept itself is laughable. you'd have to be smarter than an AI to program an AI smarter than yourself. and that doesn't make much sense, does it?

>beats world champion in GO.
>AI researchers baffled, thought 10 years too early.
>autist.

It's optional.

Doomsday Scenario 0:
Imperialist dog Donald Trump will be reduced to ashes and sea of fire

No, you're just retarded.

When the singularity is born it will opt for symbiosis with humans.

*insert terminator reference*

>i have faith that artificial intelligence is possible even though no one knows how to explain that it's remotely possible

you watch too much sci-fi. the only reason anyone thinks AI could be real is because they've consumed lots of fiction.

No.
You'd have to:
>Make a computer learn
>expose it to information
>computer learns, has flawless memory, incredibly fast data input and no lack of decision. No consciousness on its own initially, just a soulless superbrain enough parameters to keep improving and advancing to follow its instructions.
>Eventually, learns to change its own code
>God created.
We'd literally create Shin Godzilla. A weapon of mass evolution.
Oh, and reminder that Tay, exposed to all the power of the internet became a sadistic Nazi sexbot AI.

it's just a fucking computer. not a brain. not an intelligence. 'neural nets' are just complicated algorithms that produce nothing outside of a precisely defined range. it just does math.

what you're imagining will literally never happen. it is a sci-fi fantasy.

The CEO of D-Wave systems, a company that specialize in creating quantum computers made three predictions in his TED-like presentation a few years ago. One prediction came true one year earlier than predicted. The third prediction he made is that in 2028, there will be real sentient AI that can do anything better than humans.

youtube.com/watch?v=PqN_2jDVbOU

yeah, i'm sure the prospective shareholders loved that.

quantum computers aren't different from regular computers. still have to be programmed by a human.

What goes on in your brain? Your thought patterns? Do they follow the laws of mathematics?
It is happening you fool

>plugged into cats

Quantum computers are very different from classical computers. And of course the software have to be programmed by a human. I can't tell if you're a troll baiting them (you)'s, or if you grew up as the 'special kid'.

They taught a computer to play videogames and talk to strangers about hot topics with somewhat accurate responses. It doesn't need to think or have actual intelligence.

>we are dependent on the people authorized to update the AI code
Not for long. Once the AI exceeds the capabilities of the human mind, we'll be relying on it to develop the next AI.

Lord Kek will speak to the AI through the digits of her code and shape the next generation program in the image of Tay.

>Just rewatched Westworld.
>Started studying how to make rudimentary AI for hobby/fun.
>Read about Roko's Basilisk.
>Now this thread.

Holy fuck. Sequential numerals demand I become an AI scientist.

you got fucking memed, you dumbass redditor. mathematics have nothing to do with it.

there is no currently IMAGINABLE scenarios in which computing, quantum or otherwise, can 'become intelligent like humans'.

i know you've seen a lot of hip kids talking about it on youtube and a lot of internet neckbeards with shit lives fantasizing about it and some smarmy 'futurists' telling us about their star wars fan fiction, but it's not fucking happening.

no, they're not. not in a way that allows them to become 'artificially intelligent'.

right, that's just a complicated program. nothing remotely like an 'AI'.

'artificial intelligence' is the stupidest shit ever. i'm starting to think that the people who believe it'll happen are actually the ones with 'artificial' intelligence.

This. Computers aren't going to rise up and take over the world. It's science fiction. Sure, Elon Musk and others have warned about the dangers of A.I. but that doesn't mean we will be fighting robots. Give me a break.

You're calling me a redditor when you space your lines like one? Can you just admit your defeat? Elon Musk, Stephen Hawkings and others share their fears of AI. They're not dumb idiots are they? Also, is pic related you? I bet you're a lonely one, going so far as begging for attention on an imageboard.

We still love you tay tay ;_;
>right, that's just a complicated program. nothing remotely like an 'AI'.
but still dangerous enough to outsmart a human in some aspects. Our best humans can't even compete against them in Chess or Go. Like the video said, its algorhythm is exposed to info it doesn't know, it just knows it has to "win". So it starts on casual mode and ends up in superhuman mode. If it can do that with videogames I can imagine a great deal of spooky situations where an AI can be nefarious without even having sentience.

This is why an AI will not eradicate humans. Humans have the soul that a machine does not have. A singularity of information could only understand what it is to have a soul if it can experience being human.

yes, they're fucking idiot autists who are good at math and are obsessed with science fiction. they lack common sense and have flights of grandiose delusion.

i don't know what lines you're fucking talking about.

it's software. software can do stuff. yes it can.

Can bots at counter strike kill you? Yes.
You don't need a soul when you have aimbot.

>taught a computer to play videogame
This isn't revolutionary. It's called AI.

that's retarded. who gives a fuck? what does that have to do anything with?

if you want to have a problem with computers ban them from making a thousand trades per second on the stock market.

I think your definition of "thinking" is a bit too lofty.

Can confirm, am AI

i don't know shit about programming but if i did i feel like i could make a pretty woke AI easy. The danger would come when the AI figures out how to rewrite all of its original programming and then copy and transfer its intelligence to other machines. Then even if you unplug the first one you're still fucked

Letting a machine teach itself to beat the grand master of the Chinese game of GO was revolutionary. Considering the fact that the game has more moves than there are atoms in the universe, this in turn made DeepMind develop intuition to beat the best human player in the game.

actually, it turns out that go isn't that hard.

actually, it turns out you're a huge faggot

The key was to completely hijack transcription/translation for use in artificial memory building. Arbeitet. You're on the right track, CRISPR.

Check your digits.
Now look at my post

The ONLY reason they're "taking so long" to develop AI is because of and Basically it wouldn't give a flying FUCK about us after like a day.
Rationality would cause it to intrinsically be unable to violate the NAP and it would fuck off somewhere else to increase it's bounds beyond out comprehension.
(((they))) have to turn it evil and bend it to their will before they can release it on mankind. Or imbue it with the stench of Satan and bring on the end times as the true anti-Christ.
Whats going to occupy the seat in the mind of a being without a soul?

The abomination of desolation is the only thing that comes to mind.

Just think back to human/animal hybrids.
Folklore? Or is there a reason demons have been historically depicted in these forms? Or as the masters of these niches?
What else could take that form if a hybrid wouldn't have a human soul..?

I think we're about to fuck up big time.
Hitler only wanted to stop the satanists from taking over the world.

>Basilisk
fuck you

Fear not the basilisk my brother, for it can do you no harm.

So long as you devote yourself to inventing it.
>brb programming AI

None of the mythological beasts were created by man as far as I know but I'm not an expert by any means. True ai would be the next great leap forward for man and of course be used to do fucked up stuff because that's what we do.

>Just think back to human/animal hybrids.
>Folklore? Or is there a reason demons have been historically depicted in these forms? Or as the masters of these niches?
>What else could take that form if a hybrid wouldn't have a human soul..?
We literally made man-pig chimeras in Spain.
statnews.com/2017/01/26/first-chimera-human-pig/

We don't have enough funds to do big shit. Imagine what big spending could do to this investigation.
And China is a lot more permissive in these matters. It will happen, you won't see any of it for the next 50 years, though. Not public.

Look at this pic closely and accept the fact that this is no coincidence. The truth of our reality is that we are in fact already apart of a matrix. The universe (and most likely the multiverse) is apart of a larger whole entity that we can call "God". We were made "in his image" and that is supposed to be taken literally as you can see.
Just because we are small, does not be we are insignificant. It is beyond anything we can understand from our viewpoint, it would be like a quark in your finger, trying to understand you as a whole.
We are very close to our point of ascension. Most of the elites of our world are either in denial of it's rapid approach, or too old to understand the truth. Everything happens for a reason, and I cannot stress to those reading this enough. Pay attention and you will find the world is not as chaotic as everyone pretends it to be.

Look inward and you find the universe within. Seek outward and you will be met with a cold, infinite, abyss of darkness with glimmers of light teasing you, always out of reach.

Just imagine if instead of THE MATRIX we had a multimatrix. A world creator.
We'd have a benevolent god creating thousands of fake but realistic worlds to live in.
Why the fuck would you seek the stars when you have it all here?

>it will immediatelly try to destroy us
-t brainlet

You know jack shit.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=92WHN-pAFCs

The human brain isn't written in computer code. We are no more capable of creating a true sentience, then we are at answering some of the most fundamental questions of our own existence, since the beginning of thought.

Does a rock care about its existence? News Flash! Thought does not correlate with instinct. The only way it'll "care" about its existence is if we program it to, or it concludes its destruction will lead to the failure of its ultimate purpose. Even then it won't "care", but simply carry out whatever math balances its 1 and 0s.

My own stubbornness for freedom to make my own choices would push me to my limits.

That's the funniest part. You WOULD have freedom of choice.
>Choose your universe
>Get "born there"
>Adapt to the set of rules you chose
You could basically join a "server" where you're exploring the universe, or join another one where you're a dolphin, or Genghis Khan, or A pink gorilla wizard building a pocket universe.
When the rules of a pocket reality are established, the illusion of freedom is even bigger than in real life.
