Give me one reason why gladiatorial prize fights should be illegal

Give me one reason why gladiatorial prize fights should be illegal.

As long as the fighters consent to a contract to fight for an agreed sum of pize money and know the risk, the spectators are entertained, and the host/management are paid everything should be ok.

>why is killing someone illegal
gee, i don't fucking know

But they know the risk before fighting. Nobody's forcing anyone to fight

There is no reson it should be illegal. I like the way you think

you can't possibly be this retarded. i refuse to believe that

Myrmillo vs Thraex NOW!

Honestly, i don't see a problem.

yeah it's fine

Where am I wrong? Both fightet signed a contract knowing one of them will die and the win the prize.

If they don't sign they don't fight simple as that

it is illegal to kill a human, even if he asks you for it. even euthanasia is illegal in most places. how hard is that to understand?

Could you elaborate?

>b-but it says here you can't! Why you no listen to big book!

Senpai they're two consenting adults. If it's legal to stick it up the end of a consenting person's digestive system, it should be legal to murder a consenting person

Holly shit you are autistic laws aren't based on morality a lot of immoral shit is legal just because it's currently a law that doesn't mean that is correct . Say it wasn't a law and you are trying to propose it what will be your argument for it

I unironically agree with the ancaps on this, along with bringing back dueling.

This is German mentality manifest.

If something is illegal it's wrong and impossible to do and you shouldn't even think of doing it!

Shut the fuck up you mong.

The only problem with OP's proposal is that the prize money could lead someone to be "forced" to take up the challenge to escape some other form of debt or financial problems.

>no fun allowed

typical kraut

I already know it's illegal, Why should it be?

Nobody forced to do anything, people have free will hans. Maybe they shouldn't have landed themselves into the situation where they need the prize money.

>I'm """forced""" to fight for prize money in a contractual duel to the death to escape poverty instead of I don't know, getting a real job that won't kill me

Kek

>This is what Drumfkins actually believe.

Legality =/= morality

Or be liberated by winning

In thus hypothetical, if the guy didn't have access to the gladiator fights he'd probably turn to crime, become a bum or some other bullshit.

LET THEM FIGHT FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT

Top quality bait

/thread

if two people volunter in a contract to kill each other i don't think is wrong

it shouldn't be illegal, now, we might argue how many people would engage in it and pay for it, which i think it wouldn't be many in a capitalized society.

you c u c k you must die

>The only problem with OP's proposal is that the prize money could lead someone to be "forced" to take up the challenge to escape some other form of debt or financial problems.

This. It is the same issue as with prostitution or porn production - it is voluntary on paper, but in reality it often isn't and it can lead to exploitation.

I actually think dueling should be legal, but gladiator fights shouldn't be.

I would be absolutely fine with duels being televized though.

LIFE SENTENCE DEATH FIGHTS
GET SLAMMED IN THE SLAMMER

I have an exam tomorrow over the different types of gladiators and their equipment. So I can safely say that gladiators didn't usually get executed or killed during combat if they were professionals. It would be like executing a race horse. Now they did sometimes die but if they fought good the crowd usually spared them.
>but also infections from wounds
>other problems
>sometimes they might be killed anyway

If a gladiator is killed the sponsor of the fight had to pay 10x the rental fee, which was high, to compensate the owner. So there was an incentive for them to be spared.
>also they had refs with sticks that ensured a good fight. Like boxing.

Gladiators by their nature must lose their freedom and be forced anyway. The romans could contract to become a gladiator for a set amount of fights or time and they would be legally forced to fulfill that contract as a slave. Even dying if their owner ordered it.
>they had a problem in later centuries of rich young men from prominent families doing this for fun/fame despite legal and social stigma. Really pissed the romans off

>tfw The Running Man will never be a real gameshow

There is literally no reason to make prostitution illegal between two consenting adults

What exactly do you mean by "exploitation" anyways? People whoring out for money? It's the world's oldest profession and people already do absolutely still camwhore and provide escort services every day. Closing your eyes and pretending it doesn't happen because it's "illegal" doesn't make it go away, and just saying "b-but it's not REAL voluntary" doesn't invalidate the fact that fair voluntary prostitution does happen

(((Exploitation))) is commie talk with no clearly defined definition.

Because muh morality

Chomsky says all porn is exploitation.

Bloodsports are porn for men.

I think it would make more money than modern MMA or boxing.

Pay for a ticket or pay-per-view, if they try to illegally stream it ill use my ip locator gold™ membership to find them and blow up their home with my recreational predator drone system.

And I disagree, I believe sadism at that degree is a rather niche market.

No matter the size of the demographic there's a profit to be made. Assuming I have a monopoly on this Ill just raise the viewing price and the price of products I sell at the area and merchandise. You want to legally watch two people fight to the death pay up.

Trying to read about it atm, but do you know off why Chomsky might think porn is exploitation?
