When capitalism failed to replace religion and a sense of community and belonging but communism is so much worse

>when capitalism failed to replace religion and a sense of community and belonging but communism is so much worse
Fuck this gay earth

I think we need some goal to strive towards. Most religions take care of that, and it's something capitalism is lacking. I think we could solve this by convincing people something like technological progress is the "end goal" of humanity.

Why do expect an economic system to be responsible for your sense of community and belonging?

>being this 17th century
even Durkheim and Weber knew capitalism was an ideology

Read Kropotkin

An economic ideology. There is no logical connection between owning a business and getting a community and a sense of belonging. They're mutually exclusive. You can have both, nothing is stopping you.

Capitalism can be (and usually becomes) both.

>replace religion and a sense of community
I don't see how capitalism would create subdivisions of culture or beloning

exactly

Capitalism runs contrary to many religious teachings. Capitalism tends to do away with many traditional morals, like decorum and even things like traditional marriage.

>not sorting yourself out and rising above the underachieving masses which includes you
it's in your hands man
stop finding excuses for your inadequacies, stop lying to yourself you can't compete with a made up you, you know exactly what needs to be done in order to improve things, and you know the way

now walk that way with a steadfast step

Capitalism doesn't need to replace religion, you can have both and balance economic needs with whatever ideals the community you're part of may have. Communism is the ideology where religion is completely destroyed in favor of atheism.

What absolutely needs to be done is to destroy the consumerist "culture" that the jews in Hollywood spread to the rest of the world.

>Communism is the ideology where religion is completely destroyed in favor of atheism.
same with capitalism, or so says Nietzsche
>consumerist "culture"
that's capitalism

But capitalism tends to lead to consumerism.
What's more, capitalism doesn't necessarily hold up traditional institutions like tight knit communities and self-sufficiency.

According to Nietzsche culture is supposed to fill those gaps with art, music, literature and poetry. Too bad capitalism cares only about culture when you can make money with it and turns it into another trademark.

If only there were a third option.

pls tell

I don't read much about philosophy, but it is interesting how society more and more seems to reflect the idea that market demands should always be met.

>same with capitalism, or so says Nietzsche
And yet religion still exists under capitalism and Catholicism even thrives in some places, Nietzsche was wrong.
>that's capitalism
>Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.
There's the definition of capitalism, consumerism is just hedonism applied to capitalism, it happens regardless of economic system.

That's more of a reflection of society itself rather the actual basis of capitalism. Long periods of prosperity tend to lead to degeneracy and the fall of Empires, it doesn't mean prosperity is undesirable in itself. If communism actually worked as intended the same thing would happen, the problem is that the political classes never know how or bother to manage these periods and the people only aggravate the problems whenever their sense of community starts deteriorating.

I was just shitposting, but there are some ideological groups that define themselves as being an alternative option or a 'third position' in regards to capitalism and communism. Fascists and national socialists have often presented themselves this way, which is why I brought it up, this being Sup Forums and all.

Don't forget about the glorious Islamic Reich where all money is replaced by goat pussy.
