Just saw a baptism for the first time

>priest asks baptized person to face certain directions of the room in the name of jesus
>walking in circles around the holy water tub while holding candles
>priest asks every question to the baptized person 3 times
>people in the pews have to stand up and sit down constantly
>weird dingly chandelier object that has smoke in it that the priest uses to ward off evil spirits i guess
>the entire time priest and his associate are singing and chanting

This shit is spooky, almost like a cult. I never knew how strange and ritualistic Christianity was

probably influenced by masonic rituals by the sound of it

Well, Christianity is pretty much a death cult.

get out of that church, find a better one

dingly chandelier smoky object was a Thurible. What sect? Sounds maybe Orthodox

Superstition is a hell of a drug. Keep in mind that literally no one in that building talks to God. No one in that building has ever had evidence, let alone proof, of any of the bases of their beliefs.

It's terrifying when you really think about the implications of it all.

We are baptized with the Holy Spirit. That is between you and the Lord. All that extra is nutty

I am Christian and I have never heard of anything like that in my life.

That was not a church, that was a cult.

>almost like a cult
That was a good one! I would hate to see what a real cult does with children!

user, what the fuck did you think you were going to see?

Christianity is a fucking RELIGION. It's not some club or society, it's about having a relationship with God or gods, literally being in communion with the divine. There will be rituals, blessings, sacred instruments, and prayers.

Jesus, this is a stupid thread.

IT IS a fucking cult you retard. Get with it or get the fuck out.

>this five thousand year old ancient ritual of symbolic bathing is masonic
Nigger.
based Christianity, Sup Forums is like internet vikings.
>Superstition is a hell of a drug
Alright normie. You've overstayed your welcome.
>le superstitions and no ebidense
>on Sup Forums, the place that on nothing but faith and superstition destroyed a political cult of power

Not a real baptism, real baptism happens in river just like John the baptist used to. God doesn't live in temples.

What denomination was that? Sounds cultish.

>Be godfather at baptism
>Sister-in-laws grandparents were literal nazis
>family photos around dinner table with swastikas on the wall
>Clean shirt that day happened to be brown
>Priest asks everyone to raise their hand to bless the baptismal font
>mfw 200 people give me the Roman salute and I salute back in a brown shirt

you got tricked he was summoning a demon

At least they don't cut up the sex organs of infants.

That shit ain't Christian in the least

>go to a catholic baptism
>30 families are there
>babies are practically on a fucking conveyor belt as the priest quickly waves his hand over each
>it's all over in about 8 minutes

did they charge +tip?

Sounds like an Orthodox baptism.

Most likely a Catholic mass by what your expressing, typically they do it only with the immediate family god parents and whoever the fuck wants to be there. But when they do it during a full fledged mass it just wastes more time and time is money.
>Implying catholics are a cult

>Alright normie. You've overstayed your welcome.
You're the epitome of normie, faggot.
>conforming
>unquestioning of beliefs
Dumbass
>inb4 "lol dumbass atheist"
I am not an atheist. I am an agnostic THEIST. Whether there is a god, I am uncertain, however I lean to theism more than I do atheism. By extension I am therefore MORE uncertain with regards to the existence of a personal god, such as your Abrahamic one.
>inb4 "degenerate"
I believe that a religion should exist within a society. It is a moral glue that keeps the degenerates in line, so to speak. However, I would never go readopt Christianity because of its promotion of altruism (extended to all people) and egalitarianism above all else
