Flemish and southern Dutch are catholic. We always had 2 languages in the Middle Ages and later, as Bourgondian state, Southern Netherlands and the short time as United Netherlands, so why would it be a problem now? We managed a federal state today.

Not at all, there was a Dutch-speaking Rex Flanders for example, and I read his memoirs, he stated specifically that he had no such intentions, it wasn't about language but about uniting the people who share the same blood, history and ancestry.
Also Louis XIV conquered French-Flanders, and Dunkirk was sold out by the perfidious Albion to the French. French-Flanders (Waelsch-Vlaanderen) had always been bilingual, interestingly the Flemish name for Boulogne in the middle ages was Bonen, which was a direct continuation of the Belgic (Celtic) Morini settlement Bononium (which was named Gesoriacum by the Romans during their 450 years rule there).
Even today old people still speak Flemish in that region, and the dialect is pretty much the same as the West-Flemish dialect, this after 432 years of French rule.
