I read The Hill for day to day news about Congress and politics in general. It's pretty much centrist and doesn't throw leftist opinions at you the way Politico does. Politico does do some good longform pieces though if you are willing to deal with bias.

Drudge Report is great to check throughout the day for general news when all you need is a quick rundown.

The Wall Street Journal is great for general news if you're into business and markets. Their editorial page is the best opinion platform you'll find if you're a conservative. WSJ isn't cheap but if you are a student it goes down to $50 a year I think.

Also, Takimag is a great website for longform pieces on politics and culture. Straight redpill after redpill.
