WSJ employees Rolfe Winkler, Jack Nicas and Ben Fritz have jeopardised the careers of thousands of YouTube creators by scaring major corporations into removing their advertisements from YouTube. YouTube responds by demonetising videos with the slightest chance for controversy, reducing revenue by 60% for many channels.
It started when they took a few of Pewdiepie's videos out of context and branded him a neo-Nazi and anti-semite when it was clearly a joke.
It is full-blown political correctness in the form of blatant slander and clickbaiting and these three are not being punished for it.
Does Sup Forums have an opinion on this? What can be done to help resolve this?
This is just the beginning of the end. It will make those content creators seek another platform for their videos.
All it takes is just one guy with a great idea to start a new website that will destroy YouTube.
Tyler Phillips
The only people who voted for Trump are rural and suburban retards.
City people all voted for Hillary.

I think Google should sue the ever living fuck out of the WSJ for their blatant misrepresentation of the actual issue.
With jews you lose.

I like WSJ. Good newspaper. I don't have an issue with the creators but I can't stand Youtube itself as a platform with all of the pozzed bullshit they constantly put on the front page and banner (and the way their algorithms just reward mindless clickbait over actual content.)
Fuck, it isn't even the creators or the paper, it's just Youtube.
Anthony Torres
stop subscribing to WSJ, use adblock, don't give them the traffic if you can help it.
Also stop paying for (((cable/satellite)))
WSJ is attacking YT because they're loosing business at a ridiculous pace. Everyone's going to YT and other alternative online media. These are the death throws of mainstream media and they're cornered and dangerous. The final blows need to dealt quickly and mercilessly.
Brandon Scott
We need a new Facebook and a new Google Alphabet
Kevin Roberts
They got way too much money for doing nothing anyway.
Brayden Jackson
All this is doing is convincing more and more Millennial, Gen Y and Gen Z people that the Left are the new puritans and conservatism is the new counter-culture.
Noah Harris
I hope Paul Watson, Infowars, Jon Tron, and all the other retards lose everything and have to go find real jobs for once instead of spreading bullshit
Ryder Allen
WSJ is one of the only MSM outlets that doesn't fucking suck. Get mad at CNN or Huffington or FOX or something, WSJ is primarily market-oriented and could be much worse.
We need the TrumpNet and we all know it. It will be like the apartheid meets the internet.
Chase Rivera
Fucking lol, ApartheidNet

The (((media))) thinks they can kill independents by means of taking away their revenue stream.
Little do they know, they are actually helping them. They are releasing them from the grasp of the AdJew, and they will now be forced to earn their fair share by means of direct funding by their viewers.
WSJ is doing god's work, they are too retarded to realize it, but they are expediting the inevitable death of (((ads))). Advertisement will be forced into a more organic state, companies are soon going to be forced back into a sponsorship model, where the content creators will pick who they want to be sponsored by, and they will have plenty of options to choose from as corporations beg for them to promote their products.
James Cooper
Youtube has never made a profit and it never will. This is just an excuse to ban the channels that don't promote their views and it's a privately operated company so it's okay, i don't really see the problem here. The e-celeb faggots will find another venue, most of them make enough from patron and other bullshit already to live a comfortable life by not adding any value to society.
Andrew Wood
i suppose so but at least their content is more up and coming and supposedly less censored (for now)
Gabriel Diaz
Jack Nicas, in particular, is so smug about his attempts to falsely accuse and destroy the reputation of a company that supports thousands of creators on ad revenue that it's unbearable.
This prick is going all out to mark up the story as some huge event that has been going on for years when it was his own lies that started this mess.
Ayden Adams
>The only people who voted for Trump are rural and suburban retards. >City people all voted for Hillary.
Luis Phillips
How do businesses that don't produce profit for a decade still exist financially?
Levi Watson
Even if youtube isn't turning a profit, which I'd say is bullshit and they are, they are still under the larger branch of Google which is under the larger branch of Alphabet, practically the most profitable company in the world.
Ryan Anderson
>A. >FUCKING. >LEAF.
Justin Long
Because Alphabet is so big that they can afford it and it helps them build their "secret" AI pet.
Hudson Hughes
Hah yeah the unemployable workshy benefit recipients all voted for crooked.
Jackson Sanders
Well your definition of doesn't fucking suck allows slander then. I'm not exactly a fan of pewdiedie, and he may actually be anti Semitic, but I know the videos were a joke. Wsj have got a bruised pussy from Trump and are now only capable of attacking the little guy.
Hunter Hernandez
I'm glad. Those redpilled YouTubers will do it because they are dedicated, any jew money grabbing jewtubers will have to find another place to peddle their shit.

Daniel Sanchez
Well PewdiePie could and should take them to court for slander.
They damaged his reputation and hurt him monetarily.
Jeremiah Campbell
>tfw sargon had it all figured out
Camden Kelly
How I see the problem is that these three WSJ employees are getting off with no punishment nor retaliation for outright lying to the public and creating an issue that was never there in the first place. Jack Nicas is currently at the front lines of this promulgating a smug arrogance and self-righteousness, shoving it in people's faces as though he had just uncovered some monolithic conspiracy or truth.
Robert Reyes
>pewdiepie >the little guy
He's a guy who makes millions of dollars just for playing games and shitting out a video about it once in a while. A lot of these youtubers are making shitloads of money, they're not just average joes barely scraping by. If they're little guys then so are Hollywood actors.
Eli Harris
Pewdiepie isn't the norm. Channels like Libertypen are some of the greatest things to ever come out of the Internet and they haven't got a hope or prayer of pulling the numbers of pewdiepie.
Jewtube can do what it wants and people who keep all their eggs in one basket deserve to suffer.
Carter Carter
Please this Google is the worst company in the world
Isaac Cruz
>with no punishment nor retaliation for outright lying to the public This is what really gets me
There really should be a mechanism to punish outlets that publish demonstrably false information that are obviously couched within probablies and anonymous sources. These clickbait crucifixions are getting tiresome, and apparently Gawker getting Hulkamaniac'd wasn't enough of a deterrent.
Noah Murphy
wsj is garbage, stop trolling.
Jaxson Cruz
Gawker clearly wasn't enough of an example, maybe pewdiepie suing WSJ would be
Tyler Johnson
Pewdiepie makes money yes. Does pewdiepie have the management that top paid celebrities or top viewed msm? Cause that is what he is up against. He is the top of YouTube but he doesn't even compare to someone like Anderson Cooper in terms of protection. The connections you have is more powerful than money when everyone has millions.
Jealous you don't make piles of money for shit youtube videos fag?

>thinking this is about money >not realizing its about free speech and of course, the earnings you deserve for being a content creator, providing entertainment to masses of people, its not important, but its what helps them keep creating despite what you may think. look at sam hyde, he got his show pulled, he doesnt make videos as frequently as he used to. now love him or hate him, you have to realize the big picture here..
Idea, software, & hardware aren't the issue, the problem is paying for the bandwidth.
Mason Clark
This. If there is going to be a mass exodus of Youtubers, they will want somewhere to go and upload straight away.
The only people with the money to pay for that kind of bandwidth would be filthy corporations like Google.
Xavier Ward
I find it really unlikely that google won't/aren't looking into legal retaliation if they're losing significant money over it. I mean, they aren't a small company so they have plenty legal resources And it wouldn't hurt them on a pr level either so
James Green
Thread is dead. Let YouTube die it's a shithole. Unmonitored videos (porn, gore), unfiltered comments, constant issues with copyright and unmonotization and terrible notification system that takes you to the video for whatever reason

i dont care, jewtube was still fun and more niche without faggots and WoW, minecraft lets players before it was paying his creator. If they can make money, good for them, but yt is not entitled to give them a penny if they want too.
And at this point the popular youtubers could get a deal with major tv media
Easton Rogers
This video explains pretty clearly what's actually going on. It's political correctness being used as a tool for economic warfare
Pretty sure hardware's an issue too, the sheer magnitude of video means you'd need nonstop imports of servers. The software can be an issue too, but it's mainly just optimisation (which would be very important for a website of that size) and those problems that come with huge amounts of data.
Christopher White
You think that's ever going to happen when ((they))) are in charge
Carter Moore
Some of you on this thread do not grasp the bigger implications of this issue. It is not a question of high earnings or of whether YouTube has held the monopoly for too long. It is of the fragility of public reputation and the influence of political correctness that continues to infringe on the lives of people and the manipulation of the media on facts and the lack of retribution.
It is akin to a gun being placed to our heads, where even though everyone knows it's loaded with blanks, no one stops the gunman. The companies are still reacting to the bad press that was built on nothing except lies and clickbait titles, and that is a shame. There's no justice to be done against these three, and they will continue to go unpunished, and that is a damn shame.
Jace Murphy
This guy is such a virtue signalling faggot, he made this video when he has a patreon, and papal linked in all of his videos. youtube.com/watch?v=UXJYMRwo6fY

"Controlling the world's sources of news, Jews can always prepare the minds of people for their next move. The greatest exposure yet to be made is the way that news is manufactured and the way in which the mind of whole nations is molded for a purpose. When the powerful Jew is at last traced and his hand revealed, then comes the ready cry of persecution and it echoes through the world press. The real causes of the persecution (which is the oppression of the people by the financial practices of the Jews) are never given publicity."
Lincoln Martinez
short-sighted:
> competitor arises (runs on venture capital) > starts relying on advertisers > youtube dies > advertisers boycott competitor > GOTO 10
the guy goes out of his way to never do anything too controversial since he is in cuckland, and they still nail him.
Cameron Roberts
YouTube once put up an experiment at me a page full of mostly crap. It asked: How much of this is clickbait? (forget its phrasing) (none, some, most, all). After staring at it I said all. I haven't seen anything like it since, nor have I seen clickbait.
Apropos of nothing I'd happily pay them for redtube - fair is fair, I spend a lot of time on youtube and hate ads - but I don't want to associate my real name with my account, and that's what a credit card would do. Those anonymous ones are problematic, the company behind some has died recently, and you have to go to the trouble to make up fake information for them - just a nuisance.
Chase Hernandez
In other words, content creators want someone else to pay for bandwidth so they can upload amateur videos and get rich. Did I miss sonething there?
Sebastian Baker
need a public court specifically for news media like the FCC
William Lopez
wsj is fake news.

> wouldn't hurt them on a pr level > look like they're defending a holocaust denier or anti-semite
Choose one. Probably they'll do this censoring and wait for it all to blow over.
Andrew Bailey
The fact that Google records and attaches to your google account every single search you've ever made and every website you've ever visited and every video you've ever watched and for how long and pretends that you have control over this data when you don't is the worst. We're one stock market crash from authoritarian governmental rule when all of this data will be made public.
Xavier Young
God has won.
Juan Rogers
I think its the legacy media taking down youtubers. Youtubers are stupid as fuck to me but to my kids and all their friends they follow those youtubers like girls used to follow Elvis. Legacy media sees them taking their audience and their cash so they are taking them down,
If people make it clear, they will pay for youtube red, IF they do not censor content creators, it will make ((advertisers)) less powerful/important
Oliver Edwards
Nothing will replace YouTube. Google controls the Internet and no company could seriously handle the amount of traffic that YouTube has.
I'd like to see WSJ go bankrupt though. All the tryhards in college would read it to look smart.
Blake Stewart
Youtube is a loss leader for Google and is ran by a skeleton crew and tons of AI. No one else could run a youtube like operation of that scale. Google loses money on YouTube in the way that a store will put something on sale at a loss to get you in the door.
Daniel Diaz
i miss the days when the internet wasn't shit
Carter Russell
I read a article about Google and YouTube, some years ago. Youtube is a money sink, Google doesnt really make any profit with it. They operate YouTube to reduce potential competition, advertise new products and manipulate people.
Google knows that young people turn to the right side, they try to counter that movement by attacking right-minded YouTuber that make a living via YouTube.
Connor White
Its just as fun but stay clear of the inner city equivalent of the internet (facebook , google) those cyber ghettos as trash but explore and internet is as fun as ever.
Aiden Morgan
People need to learn about this quickly. It's a calculated assault planned by the media to try and end advertising on anything with user made content.
The final planning was in february at an advertising industry group meeting, the reason they were able to get so many big companies to pull advertising at the same time is because they colluded with advertising and PR staff at large companies. I'm unsure what they promised in return, probably cheap advertising on traditional media if they assisted.
They're are going to get away with it if you don't organize and retaliate. They're counting on people being too busy fighting each other over left/right issues or which websites they dislike while they institute a large scale censorship system. I would not bother defending youtube. The first step should be to target corporations that pulled their youtube ads. flood their social media accounts with complaints blaming them for the situation.
The WSJ and newscorp can handle the hate fairly easily, companies involved in the boycott cannot, if they think they're going to be blamed when peoples favorite youtube channels are gone the whole thing becomes a huge liability.
Hudson Walker
I see kids with 8 hr streams of them playing a video game with like 8 views. Is memory that cheap? How does youtube make money while having to store countless videos like that?
Tyler Anderson
Just because a company isn't showing profit deosnt mean it isn't making money.
Like a lot of companies I'm sure Youtube rolls profit back into development while at the same time paying fat salaries and utilizing tax deductions for Alphabet as a whole.
Pretty sure Amazon didn't show a "profit" for 20 years, yet somehow Bezos lived a pretty comfortable life...
Daniel Sanchez
Lets players have to get a real job? How terrible
Caleb Campbell
>Nothing will replace YouTube. Google controls the Internet and no company could seriously handle the amount of traffic that YouTube has. They don't want something to replace youtube, they want it destroyed and everyone to watch more TV and read garbage newspapers instead. The goal is to make it impossible for any website with user content to secure advertising. There's more to this than people realize, they have launched an extremely sophisticated attack, pulling the ads is only one facet, they have been trolling with software patents on detecting offensive content, pushing governments to censor social media. The plan appears to be to force such extreme rules that youtube and other social platforms will be nearly useless.
Caleb Nguyen
which is why YT moving to a paid model may be good, they cant be jewed around as easily, as long as there is content ppl want to watch they can pay monthly, and WSJ complaining wont make me unsub.
Parker Myers
"Loss leader" is the term to search for
Jose Scott
Fuck Youtube then. We need to come up with direct marketing option supplied by the uploader. Instead of relying on youtube to sell ad space, sell it yourself with product placement, sponsorship etc.
I wonder how much McDonald's would pay Pewdipie to eat a Big Mack? That a helluva lot more effective than running a 30 second add that gets skipped.
Leo Long
Perhaps this is all a part of YouTube's grand scheme? They knew nobody would give a shit about YT Red, so they decide to hire some power-hungry media cunts to bait advertisers into ditching YT. Therefore, if a youtuber wants to stay afloat, they switch to YT red, bringing their fanbase in as well. More Red cash = less reliance on advertisers, less loss leading.
Julian Gomez
I'm curious to see how this plays out. The MSM is going after YouTube hard.
However there is much Google can do to punish the MSM for this. Hell, they could even punish advertisers.
I wonder if they will just accept this shedding of money, or if they will fight back.
