I also like the American one and the Jap one. Those are good too. American one actually has a thing going with the stars and the Jap one is basically the same idea as the leaf. It should be the version with the rays going out from the sun though, this one just looks like a dot.

Union Jack is still the best flag though. It looks cool and the fact that its an amalgamation of its member state's flags, while not being a horrid mess, is an achievement.

I don't know man, flag has a maple leaf, Canada is full of maple trees. Makes sense. I also like that it's just the two colours that are fairly striking against each other. The simplicity is aesthetically pleasing and stands out since most flags have 3+ colours.

I don't dislike the Union Jack, I just also like our current flag. Our national anthem is pretty lame though.

That's why your old flag was so great. It had a symbols for all parts Canadian cultural heritage and maple leafs for the land itself.

It's still just 3 colours in 3 lines like every other flag. It's boring, it doesn't stand out. The colours have significance sure but nothing interesting is done with them.
I don't dislike the old flag but it's very busy. It has too much action going on in the one corner, then nothing but red for most of it, then another country's flag. I like the simplicity of our current one, but I understand the appeal of the historical significance of the old one.
