Your conception of God is modern. Aristotle was not an atheist, and anyone that says so is wrong. Before cultural modernity, (Enlightenment), God was thought of as Being. After cultural modernity, God is thought of as Will. This is why today we think of God as a sky fairy that pokes his finger in here and there. Such ideas are modern and a-historical. Western tradition held, for thousands of years, that God is Being, until Enlightenment thinkers rejected tradition. Now even religious people get their own tradition wrong.
