For me, 2007 sucked because it was when a massive influx of normies began to infest the internet. This got even worse as smartphones, cheap bandwidth, and pathetic barriers to entry made the web accessible to just about everyone. Corporations learned that it is immensely profitable to "get" people on the Internet, so they made it as easy as possible.
It's been downhill since 2007 as virtue signalling faggots and "causes" became emboldened by social networks like Twitter. THAT cancer peaked in 2013-2014 with the push-back happening in 2015. It's still going to be a long fight, and I can't predict the future, but I feel we are upon a golden age of Internet, oddly enough, ushered in by memes.
