The american voting system is ridiculous. If you live in state X you have de facto more voting power than if you live in state Y
Californians and New York people have less voting power than rural retards, which is insane
Most of the things America is great for (like Silicon Valley) are all in California
And Californians were for HER. As were all Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and greatest American scientists. What a sham. Debacle.

this same thread has been up like 5 times in the past 24 hours.
If you dont understand the structure of the Constitution in which the several states share dual sovereign power with the fed gov - its your job to learn about it.
saged.

>states with huge ubran populations get more votes >states with urban populations push laws benefiting urban dwellers >less populated rural areas get fucked

>If you dont understand the structure of the Constitution in which the several states share dual sovereign power with the fed gov - its your job to learn about it. I understand it but it's BAD and OUTDATED.

You're talking about areas as if they were people. It's THE PEOPLE that matter. Why should a Californian have less voting power than a redneck? Explain that. In democracies like Slovenia each person is given the same voting weight.
Michael Adams
our votes don't actually matter, the president is a figurehead who can only accomplish very little, and the same agendas get pushed for decades because the government doesn't actually change
voting is a way to pacify people into thinking that they have a say and keep them well behaved, but it doesn't actually do much of anything
the government is militarizing police and keeping us under surveillance
voting for candidates who don't actually matter, choosing sides, getting all worked up about the useless choices you get divides people and makes them easier to control
good job falling for it, at least trump hasn't fucked us over on the second amendment
Cooper Hill
Everyone dose have the same voting right and weight. The states do not though , Why should California count as much as almost 6 states? It's not right but that's how it crumbles down to.
Also if that is true Obama should of never went to the nomination since Hillary won the popular vote. Yet no one gives a shot right?

>Everyone dose have the same voting right and weight. The states do not though , BUT IN THE END if you translate less state weight/power to the people it results in less voting power for the individual. Because his vote will go into a pool that will reduce his voting power compared to another individual from a different state.
Lucas Martin
We dont expect europoors to understand it. Your approval is not requires.

Why not?
Andrew White
That was rude. :(

Exactly , California and New York have emense voting power over the rural area's because winning their state again is worth over 6 states which is unfair. If it was to be fair state and voting power wise then every state should count as 1 vote after the majority picks what way the state leans. Then who ever has the majority states of the country wins.
That way smaller states are treated equally important as every other state and everyone's voice is heard equally.
Benjamin Baker
>thinking anyone's voice counts
you're funny

The electoral college was there for exactly this. Popular vote means fuck all nothing, especially so when the lead comes from entirely one or two states, and even more when there is verifiable fraud happening there.
Joshua Peterson
Suppose you fill up one place with one specific demographic group. This area has different priorities than the rest of the country. Sooner or later, this area will want to secede, or the other areas will kick it out, because it consistently goes against them. The US wants to stay United because they understand the sheer strength they have. Were south America to unite successfully, we would be strong enough to compete with the big boys. Oh what's that? A proposal for California's secession is gaining popularity? Gee, who would have guessed.
Matthew Lee

Yeah because the same exact system is completely appropriate for the United States, as a tiny, ethnically homogeneous country with a population smaller than even our medium sized cities.
Bentley Lopez
without electoral college the real america that every candidate tries to win and pander to would consist of 5 biggest population centers

sageget over it already, she lost.

Oh look its this thread again. He won she lost. Move on. Saged.

unironically agree. The states that make the most money should have more control. New York and California should have absolute voting control. The country would be much better off.
Isaac Hall
Once again confusing Democracy with a Representative Republic.
As Madison puts it in Federalist 10 > A pure Democracy, by which I mean a Society consisting of a small number of citizens, who assemble and administer the Government in person, can admit of no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or interest will, in almost every case, be felt by a majority of the whole; a communication and concert result from the form of Government itself; and there is nothing to check the inducements to sacrifice the weaker party, or an obnoxious individual. Hence it is, that such Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives, as they have been violent in their deaths. Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of Government, have erroneously supposed, that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would, at the same time, be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions.

Dear retards, The USA literally, the UNITED STATES, is a federation of semi independent states, not a centralized federation like, oh say, cananda. This is why you have to win each state when you elect a president becasue each state has its role to play in choosing the presdient. Now fuck off.

Its a smart system. Trump won the vast majority of land mass. You have people that own multiple acres and people that rent a fucking tiny apartment. They are not equal. This evens out the densely populated cities vs towns
