Scotland is only part of the EU by proxy through its membership of the United Kingdom. It's has no direct connection to or membership of the EU.

Scotland does want to stay in the EU. Mainly because of the vast sums of money it receives from the EU. It needs that money to stay solvent it it leaves the UK.

If Spain were to back Scotland leaving the U.K. And joining the EU as a new sovereign nation in its own right its sets a dangerous precedent for Spain any many other EU countries. In effect it would put in place a mechanism that would allow the Catalonia region of Spain to do the same as Scotland. Catalonia has the vast majority of Spain's wealth and wants to split from Spain and start a new country on its own. Current EU structure doesn't allow this and changing the structure to make it possible would end up in civil war across multiple EU countries as. Several regions of various nation states try to split and form new countries.

I hope so. Imagine how rare the old British flag becomes in my collection.

Scotland can't leave the UK before leaving the EU, even so Scotland is not the UK and doesn't have automatic EU membership.

Scotland wants to stay in the single market but the SNP won't give any elaboration on currency considering it could potentially drop their polling right down considering they have no plan for a post-independance currency.

Spain,Italy, Romania, Germany, Belgium all have seperatists supported by the SNP who also want to leave their respective countries and rejoin the EU and they don't want to set a precedent.
