The Man In The High Castle

For a change of subject in recent days; what's you'r take on this TV series? I'm watching the first episode right now. I personally don't think Hitler's world would look like it does so far. The dark grimey suffering type cinematics and generally oppressed normies. Although, even this reality that's portrayed in the series so far would be a better quality of life than the shit-skin disaster we're dealing with now.

Pretty historically inaccurate and misleading. I shut it off when the guy who was only 1/4 Jewish (acceptable to nazis then) was scared of being caught in Japanese territory if he married a white girl (extra acceptable to nazis at the time).
I'll probably never give it a second chance either.

Totally unrelated but who are we voting for in the conservative leadership race, and does the candidates shilling for missiles in Syria affect us?

terrible everything
good world building

I'm up to Episode 4 and I like it. Also they portray the world in a more realistic view as non-Aryans and non-Japabese still exist but in their own country/ area unlike most of the propaganda that is shown. It's also done pretty well because Hitler did have plans to make grand Wagnerian type buildings as seen in the show.

Yes that part was misleading but it does get better. Also they executed her more as a way of getting the information they thought her brother had about the missing tapes.

The actors in general are terrible except a few Japanese and Rufus Sewell, but the story is decent and the last episode is pure nazi porn.

People at my work are either talking about mad max or O'Leary

I enjoyed it.

second season is good.....and portrays the reich as comfy as fuck!

This.

First series is shit until the last couple of episodes. Second series is good.

Just remember it is sci-fi and not meant to be an accurate alternate history, keep watching, it gets much better. Hitler ends up as the anti-hero if anything.

TURADE MINISTAH

Also meant to say the novel doesn't have a resistance and basicallu everyone just gets on with things as normal. A lot of people are just happy communism is defeated. They tried to get the series made for ages, but no they couldn't get it approved without there being a resistance and the nazis being the bad guys, but overall its well done. The resistance is disorganised, but pretty nationalist and violent and by no means 'good guys'. John Smith is the best and one of the most important characters, especially in season 2.

The series is triggering because it perpetuates the kind of Nazi stereotypes that a liberal Jew would believe. For example, the American east coast banana republic, or whatever, is called "The Greater Nazi Reich", which would never happen in reality because the term 'Nazi' is an epithet invented by Jews and no Germans used it to refer to themselves.

Also there's an ad for the movie "Lolita" in the background in one episode and I doubt the Nazis would have allowed that movie to be made.

Mining asteroids has been estimated to cost 300bil
Europe is spending more than that on the muslim welfare, let alone the oppertunity cost of having more high IQ average whites instead of more muslims.

We would LITERALLY be colonizing space.

It is a MAJOR setback for humanity in the same way the ancient romans rejected steam-engines (they had toy ones) because '' what would happen to the (((slave-trade ))) industry of rome"

So jews have set us back 1000s of years AGAIN.
This is to be expected from a parasitic religion.

The Good
>Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith
>Juliana is my obscure waifu, shes so fucking sexy
>Inspector Kido
>I like the world-building. the Nazis actually have the genetic programs, peaceful society etc..
>Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith
>The Resistance are terrorists, while thr Nazis are all well-adjusted useful members of society with families
>Japanese characters are all obsessed with their duty
>Trade Minister Season 1 was based
>Joe is not that bad of a character
>Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith

Also, did I mention Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith?

The Bad
>Trade Minister arc in S2 was shit
>No Juliana nudity yet, she hasnt even shown legs yet
>Frank Frink and everything related to his shit character in any way
>The Resistance are all annoying self-righteous cunts
>Theres some continuity errors

Overall 8/10 show, ive actually binge-watched it thr last couple of days

Reeeeeeeee fucking kikes, I wanted to go to space.

I like how the resistance progressively is portrayed as a bitter, brutal cunts

Also Chief Inspector Kido is best character. Whoever wrote the Japs in general has definitely read the Hagakure

Season one is pretty boring, but watchable, season two is awesome.

I wonder if they will show certain things from the book...

Their propaganda failed and accidentally made Nazis the good goys by the last season

Interesting subject matter but it was too slow and the characters were boring and too similar to each other.

It might pick up later but getting through the first few episodes was too much of a slog.

Might be worth a watch if there was literally nothing else.

It's worth watching. There are no bad guys. If anything the resistance come across like the bad guys. Even the sinister Jap secret police guy with the little round eyeglasses becomes a sympathetic character in the second season. Plus Rufus Sewell as Obergruppenfuhrer Smith (who becomes basically the main character) gives an amazingly deep performance.

The storyline with the films develops pretty nicely.

Joe remains boring as fuck however.

They actually toned down the Nazis being good for the TV show. The Nazis are depicted even better in the book.

That's the point. That movie couldn't exist in that timeline. That clip you saw with Lolita in it isn't what it seems.

Having marathon'd each season of the show, Nigel pretty much nailed it. Fortunately I had literally nothing else to watch, but it was hard to get into. I got a good laugh from the hollywood-obligatory nigger in the cast when, supposedly, nips and nazis rule.

It's only bearable if I watch it in German.

You're spot on regarding Sewell's performance as Smith. That character was terribly convincing.

Watched both seasons, really good show. Not historically accurate since it takes place in an alternate universe.

Absolute shit show. Only character that's remotely interesting is Smith

The book was amazing. Couldn't get into the show too much. Really, anything by Philip K Dick is God Tier reading.

The nigger was in the no-man's land.

>constantly tries to portray the Nazis as evil with a ridiculous 'muh ovens' in the pilot
>Japanese are much worse
>Reich actually looks comfy as fuck
It's rather funny how something portrayed as a 'dystopian' world looks better than our own.

This.

How high is the castle though?

The last episode of season 2 is god-tier. What surprised me most is they portrayed Himmler as a chill bro and not some ridiculous caricature.

It's slow but picks up. If you like the subject matter you'll enjoy it more.

You're not seeing Hitler's world, your seeing the Japanese side right now. Season 2 they go to the east coast nazi side.

THAT CHIN

>Frank Frink and everything related to his shit character in any way

Favorite Arc to be honest. His character changes the most.

They lost me at the scene where whathisface gets out of his truck and gets blasted with "human ash" from the local insane asylum or whatever it was

They had to get the pilot past the (((network bosses))), a little 'muh six gorillion' ensures that. It gets A LOT better trust me.

Tried watching the first episode. Shitty plot, shitty acting, and shitty color schemes. It's just another show meant to make us prefer the shitty government we have here because "LOOK AT HOW MUCH WORSE IT COULD GET."

He just gets edgy.

havent seen the tv show, but I liked the book

By the end of Season 2 they cover everything in the book which makes Season 3 most likely going to be a shitshow of whatever the director wants now. Especially now that they have time travelling well established.

iirc that was in the "alternate" reality (ie. our reality)

The Nazis are not "the bad guys", and the reason why both Japanese and German USA territories look like shit is because they are technically occupied and the middle territories is where the USA government is operating, being a puppet of both Japan and Germany. The whole plot of both the book and the series is that there are two sides in the German - Nazi government:

>the old Nazis bureaucrats and politicians who want to go to war against Japan
>the old Nazi military men and new Nazis who don't want to go to war

Also, neither the Nazis nor the Japanese are portrayed as "evil" or crazy, the whole point is to make them look like normal people who are just trying to do their job. The book makes a better job portraying live under Japanese and Nazi rule, and of course, is the little things, they are not going to make the Nazis going full Wolfstein.

Thanks user, didn't know there was a second season already.
