It was never about spreading communism, and the thing Soviets were spreading wasn't communism either. It was about globalists being scared for their asses as an independent power risen.
Now it is about different "jewish" clans fighting each other.

Both are currently too big to get along together, and can't help but see each other as rivals, with strengths and weaknesses to be aware of and exploit. For the past 25 years there has been a question of how these two countries should best go about their business, seeing as they aren't ideologically opposed communist/capitalist anymore. Despite the fact that the world is not bipolar or even necessarily unipolar anymore, it doesn't mean that both Russia and US don't have global interests that contradict each other a lot. They tried in the 90s to smooth things over, when Russia was particularly weak and the strengths of the US more pronounced. Now, Russia will do whatever it can to prove itself as an equal, and the US is trying to do everything to prove its lone status as the indespensible nation

If US backed forces win the war in Syria and overthrow the government, US gets to pass it's Qatar-Syria-Europe pipeline through and that is a big fuck you to Russia and Russian oil from Europe

If Russia wins, then it can prevent any US pipelines and have its Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline go through and get to Europe.

EU is dependent on these pipelines to function and Russia knows that. But ig they lose that dependence then Europe can just a about do anything to Russia without them being able to retaliate
