Except we DID have proof, proof that not even the syrian government says is wrong. We tracked the damned plane as it left the airport, reached the city, and returned. That's why their story is that the target had an unknown cache of chemical weapons in it, not that the attack was actively done by ISIS or FSA or whoever. The fact that a factory was destroyed in 2014 does not get rid of all the chemical weapons in the country, owned by either rebels, terrorists, or the government. Additionally, if it was even remotely possible to blame this one another group, the syrian government would have, but they did not. There are no testamony's at all which support the "gas came out of the target building story". You can fake a testimony but it's much harder to hide a conflicting one.
More importantly though, the fact that the US, Syria, and Russia are still cooperating despite the apparent conflict, but without even suggesting that it might not have been a syrian chemical weapon drop, is strong evidence that it was an unintentional syrian drop, not a false flag or other group
