Even with a merit based system the only people being able to get in will be people that hold in-demand degrees and valuable work experience - furthermore you don't get any extra points for being white so its not like this would change the makeup of immigrants to the US in any way. Why would there be? A new country owes you nothing and taking you in is a risk. Best case scenario is you will take a low-end job away from somebody already living in the country.
