Hey, (based) Sunni here, is that true that Catholics are going to hell according to Protestants and Orthodox? Why do they say that?
Not sure most protestants even believe in hell anymore, never mind who goes there. There will be some evangelicals who say that, but that's because they mostly try to deflect from the fact their 'pastors' are completely cut off from the Church & have received their mission from mere men, while Catholic priests, bishops etc follow Apostolic succession.
On Orthodox, I think it depends which Orthodox person you talk too
newb here
is today/tomorrow days of obligation? which services over the weekend are obligation vs. optional?
Tomorrow is not technically a day of obligation because it's not technically mass (no communion)
For the weekend, the obligation is either Easter vigil on Saturday evening, or Sunday
thanks. wish i could go more than just Sunday but I would have to take a small child with me
Tel them to chill the fuck out. Church ain't till 7 pm
Why does the small child preclude you from going? When taking a child I've found it best to sit at the front. That way, they can see what's happening, priest moving etc Rather than having their view blocked and becoming bored.
Alternatively, if your church has a little area at the back, you could just stand there or sit near there so you can retreat if your child cries
> Orthodox churches are based on ethnicity
> Catholic Church is too corrupt to support
> Eastern Catholic church is basically a meetup group for expatriated Middle Easterners
> Evangelicals are nutters
> Mainline churches are left wing senior homes
> Non-denominational megachurches are for skinnypants wearing pastors to sell lattes to you so they can buy even bigger buildings
> Amish are based but I don't want to give up modern conveniences
What's left? Mennonites?
Start your own church, of course.
What is your stand on saints and the first commandment?
theology is what counts
White Islam(mormon) ain't bad, 10% of your income kinda sucks, but caffeine and alchohol are degenerate anyway, plus you can get in on that sweet sweet nepotism action.
If you think the Church is corrupt, you don't have to give anything. The Church cares more about your salvation than your money
Saints aren't Gods. We ask them to pray to God for us, just as do we with the Blessed Virgin. A line in the Hail Mary is literally 'Holy Mary...pray for us sinners now'
The only church you'll ever need

No wonder Martin Luther called the Catholic Church the whore of Babylon. He was right in that regard. Seems to me the Roman Catholic Church is just paganism dressed with a Christian veneer.
Friendly reminder that Shariablue, CIA, and MOSSAD create religious threads hoping it starts an argument. This tactic is called D&C (Divide and Conquer) and is used to turn the Sup Forums userbase against itself, thus preventing any constructive conversation.
Don't engage.
my kid is 18mos old, would just cry the whole time and shout "bye bye" wanting to go home

I had pre-marital sex. I know I can't receive the communion but I can still just go to mass and sit there, right? Or do I have to go and cross arms across my chest?
If we establish that saints can pray for us
Revelation 5:8
>And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures, and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints
And if you think read the 4 verses before your quotes:
>I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men:
>For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity.
>For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
It's clear that both we can intercede for others with our prayers, & the saints in Heaven can pray for us
you can do either. depending on your church one may be better. i went to several churches where literally nobody refused communion except me so the priest was surprised when i did and it awkwardly stopped the whole communion line.
at the church i go to now, probably 1/3 refuse communion so it's not as weird. personally i find if more awkward to stay in the pew, especially if people have to shuffle past me
Of course you can still go. Sit there and pray. I think the whole crossed arms thing is a nonsense for people who just want to feel involved. Then, if you truly regret, try to attend confession ASAP
Pray this while others are receiving communion
i go up and cross my arms because i am not baptized and i think the priest's blessing has value, also to avoid accidentally tripping old ladies who would have to shuffle past me
By His stripes we were healed
By His blood we were made worthy.
Thanks m8s
First time I go to mass (holy week especially) and not receive communion, feels really awkward
I'll definitely try attend confession ASAP I just don't have time atm
I did say 'I think..'. If you prefer it, then please ignore me. Anyway, those old ladies need the exercise hurdling you
>I'll definitely try attend confession ASAP I just don't have time atm
At least here, most churches have confession every Mass and on some occasions, like tomorrow, more often.
Meant for

but it's holy thursday user
Thank you for doing this. Keep spreading the holy word. Christ is alive and kicking!
So Im getting ready to go to mass right now. I feel kind of weird about the whole thing. I haven't been to Church in years but I decided a while ago I wanted to be a better Catholic but lately I've been feeling hopeless as fuck and not as morally upright as I wish I was. Hopefully God (if he is there/calls to me) provides some kind of insight.
bump
You haven't been to church yet user. What you're describing sounds like normal jitters before you actually re-take the first step on the path to Christ. He is there, of course he is, but think of it as a parent beckoning an unstable child. He calls you to him, & you may feel unsteady at first, or even that it's better to fall, but stay standing and keep walking
Can I even take Communion? I can't even remember the last time I did confession and I've really not been thinking or acting the way a god fearing man should. I drink a lot and I always fall into this idea of "nothing matters lmao". Will I actually turn to Christ in the end? Is the only reason Im turning to him now is in a futile attempt to gain something I dont deserve?
I want to convert to an apostolic church but not sure if I should choose between Orthodox or Catholic.
I'm leaning Orthodox because they don't hold more recent doctrines (The developments of Vatican I and II) or extra-biblical ones (immaculate conception, purgatory, indulgences), and it's structure is more like the early church (metropolitan bishops in communion with each other, leader is first among equals/not absolute authority like pope)
Reminder that tonight Christ is agonizing over our sins and His upcoming Passion.
Have a Confession first, then you are free to go to Communion.
I wish I could go on the Easter procession, but it starts too early at 6AM, fairly far from me. Tomorrow we have a vigil during the morning, and a procession in the afternoon, I'll try to make it to one of them. Last procession I've been to was during last year's advent.
I would suggest Catholic, biased as I am. Read up on the lives of various saints and mystics, this is something that helped me be convinced which of the two traditional churches to pick. The structure can seem overbearing, admittedly, but ultimately its what God intends.
The various doctrines you listed, you should at least read the reasoning behind, if you haven't already. The Immaculate Conception, in particular.
If I'm engaged to a girl that had a kid out of wedlock, what is the best way to present the situation to those in Faith? She's French Traditionalist Catholic. She had thoughts about getting an abortion, but he parents insisted that she didn't
How is gods word not the hearsay of man? Thanks.
Get rid of the kid. A bastard can't enter the Heavenly Kigdom
Shouldn't you be kidnapping and torturing Christian children? It is Passover.
I'm a Catholic Pole
This
Hey, it's the reprobate Roman pagan who spams cartoon porn filth!
Catholics aren't Christians, you may as well be a kike.
Where are those rabid prots coming from, /cg/?
I remember fewer of them back in the day.
St. Pius X catholics
Theyre redpilled pre-vatican II catholics.
>redpilled pre-vatican II catholics.
You mean heretics?
All catholics before 1962 are heretics?
Really makes me think.
Vatican II was a hostile takeover of the Holy church and spawned such people as (anti)Papa (((Francisco)))
Catholic wise thursday, and sunday are most important. Sunday, "pascua", is the most important in the year.
Good catholics will go sat morning.
Your kinsman Ioannes Paulus II however was a based papa.
No, but those who claim that the post-VII church isn't real are at least schismatics.
>Papists
Heretic, you enjoying your women Bishops?
Sedavacantism is the dumbest shit
Please go back, or at least go to a nice part of middle east/ north africa
You mean sedevacantists?
Are you defending vatican ii?
Catholics are not heretics, you mean
But they're not. Most of the sedecs are no longer a part of FSSPX, because sedevacantism contradicts its rule (they acknowledge the legality of post-VC II Popes).
Spain is the best on this ! Ole ole Semana Santa
Hey guys
Aye
Yes, it was an ecumenical council. Now you have to show that the participants didn't fit the criteria for having such a council, or accept it as valid. What do you think is heretical in the documents of VII?
Said he in a catholic thread
I kinda miss the semana Santa feel I used to get before moving to the US. Making sawdust carpets and all that other fun stuff from when I was a kid.
caffeine is more cultural than it is doctrinal. as in the mormon church doesnt officially say don't drink caffeinated drinks and more mormons just made it up cause reasons. but alcohol is forbidden.
To the USAnon that helped me on Orthodoxy, thanks again ! I met a priest today, we talked a lot.
They are in danger of being heretics with the non-acceptance of Solo-Scriptura and cult of Mary worship.
I don't think your run of the mill devout Catholic will necessarily end up in hell, as they're largely following the teachings of Christ, but being duped by a corrupt and Satanic church hierarchy. Once they become aware of this, however, and continue in their heresy, THEN they are fucked unless they repent.
Because they believe anyone goes to hell if they aren't them. Catholics on the other hand understand that literally everyone can't be Christian, and god understands that as well. It's really on a "be a good person" basis.
