What does Sup Forums think of tabletop roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons?
I think they're a decent creative outlet and allow topics such as racism and xenophobia covered if done tastefully. My current campaign is in the Underdark, and as a player, it's like strolling around as a white man in North Korea.
Cameron Perry
I want to start running a game but I have no friends or DM experience. Thinking of just putting a note on the bulletin board at my LGS looking for players.
Angel Cooper
on the flipside, a lot of it seems to be a power fantasy for neckbeards, grognards, and NEETS.
I know this is probably suited more for /tg/, but I wanted Sup Forums's opinion on tabletop roleplaying.
degenerate frivolous nerd shit, or genuinely decent and intellectually stimulating pastime?
Charles Gomez
Reducing life to a set of tables, values and random probability generators; Just think the damage autism of this level would cause if not safely channeled.
Dominic Butler
There's a website called roll20 that you can game with randoms on online. I've also used meetup and even craigslist to find groups.
Gaming with strangers is usually a gamble though, just make sure they have their own place, can contribute monetarily, and don't live in their parent's basement.
Jacob Cox
My parents thought of it as male birth control.
Colton Jenkins
It's fun with friends, so it's a good hobby. Like with everything else (Sup Forums you included), don't let it control your life or anything, and don't become too austismo.
James Jenkins
depends entirely on the group at least 80% of d&d players are complete human garbage though
Robert Parker
>Using roll20 with randoms. fa/tg/uy here. Do not ever fucking do this. Unless you are literally degenerate as all fuck, this will obliterate what little faith in humanity you might still have left.
Adrian Rodriguez
I had to stop playing with neckbeards because they were raping any female they came across. When I was dm I would immediately have them killed or raped by a daemon.
Isaac Foster
It's a legitimate hobby, but you'll find that lots of degenerates and scum gravitate towards the creative and storytelling aspects.
You'll find those quick and easy to spot. They're the ones who dont like the rules, who life free-form roleplay more, who constantly want to try new splatbooks and tend to want to be weirder and stranger creatures or half-kin, or ect- and never stick to the basics.
In short-get a GOOD GM. Everything else flows from that.
Jackson Hughes
>Neckbear the magnificent comes across a female orc traveling to the market to sell some meat, neckbear the magnificent rolls a d12 and sodomises her
Elijah Price
Conan shit is good but most high fantasy is just autistic and highly embarrassing
Michael Flores
Yeah dude, I wrote that post and I agree with you somewhat.
I used to DM on roll20 and the randoms on there were pretty much total autists. I had a few ragequits, and some dude that acted pretty rapey towards one of my female players.
But I mean, hey, if there's no alternative, it's better than nothing - and as a bonus, it gives you plenty of that guy stories.
Eli Jones
Roll for perception
Owen Nguyen
It was actually a male orc
Wyatt Clark
I wish I was outgoing and creative enough to do that shit. Seems like it'd be really fun if you have a decent DM.
Lucas Young
Makes for good fap fodder

Forgotten Realms is decentish, it's just kinda weird when you have a 30 year old man roleplaying as a Drow priestess.
Joseph Taylor
Pretty impressive feat if they did that to literally every female, not just bandits or whatever, and managed to not be lynched.
Josiah Wright

As a paladin, I think it is degenerate and a horrible waste of time. If you join our order now, you may be able to redeem yourself through death.
t.once a paladin always a paladin
Benjamin Reyes
All players have to do is obey ONE RULE: "THIS ISNT YOUR MAGICAL REALM".
But players cant control themselves.
No, you cant play a Half Dragon-kin 13 year old Magus who has a harem and all women fall in love with him,
Samuel Martin
Unless you shift alignment, then you're no longer a paladin, you're just a lukewarm fighter with no divine spellcasting abilities or immunity to diseases and shit.
Hunter Williams
>Unless you shift alignment,
You sir have insulted by honor.
APOLOGIZE
Bentley Thomas
Is a Fire Genasi cleric of the primordial god-being of Fire okay?
My domains are Destruction and Renewal.
Jaxon Fisher
Sorry, frater.
Joshua Morgan
I was playing in an old schol 2nd edition AD&D game a few years ago until our DM left to become a missionary with his wife in Nigeria. I have no idea if they're still alive.
Jose Gomez
I tried it, wasn't for me. I do however play magic. I'm a filthy RG Tronfag and an EDHfag.
Jack Perry
>Not playing a half-demon half-angel orphan psychic who's only link to his parents is his prosthetic eye of true sight.
Easton Phillips
>Full of creativity and bonding experiences if you are younger and playing with friends/doing it with your family
If you live the d&d lifestyle you are degenerate though. Its like all other hobbies. Don't get obsessed and live in the real world.
Wyatt James
>Not playing a Half Minotaur Were-Alligator Hulking Hurler that walks around completely naked except for wearing a belt of Storm Giant's Strength and throws boulders and sheds at people
Noah Hill
Boring as fuck, every sit-down session I've had of a tabletop RPG has devolved into me picking apart the rules set by the DM as my chaotic-neutral trickster-God-worshipping illusionist dwarf. And that's the only way to play, emasculating the faggot DM every single turn. The actual gameplay is never as fun as being smarter than and manipulating the DM.
