>China likes to have a buffer between it and Korea, a buffer that also weakens Korea (a united Korea would be ridiculously strong)
Well, when Kim took control, he killed all officials with ties to China. So China can't stop this crazy fucker. Also, he just killed his brother, who the chinese would use to replace Kim with.
>Korea likes the current situation because having to unite and rebuild the shithole that is NK would take time and cost trillions
6 million South koreans have family members in North korea, no? Also, to continue living under the threat of whatever crazy dicator they have in line, should be unacceptable for anyone in SK.
>Japan doesn't want to change shit mostly for the same reasons as China (since a united Korea would be a fucking massive competitor for them)
I don't know the two countries history, but maybe you guys could unite against China?
>NK government obviously doesn't want to reunite because they would lose all of their power and probably die in jail
Who cares what they think.
>USA doesn't give enough of a fuck because NK's threats are completely hollow, while they also like having leverage over Korea in the form of military support (and they also want to avoid having to pick a side in a China-Korean conflict that would likely occur from a united Korea.
Well, NK has been allowed to be a shithole that exist so US could build up military bases in Asia. Now they have a guy who went rogue, have nuclear weapons and will soon have ICBMs. It's just not acceptable. At the end of the day, NK will not have nuclear weapons nor ICBMs when US is done with them. The way that happens, is up to the Chinese. But the Chinese doesn't have control over Kim, because he killed all the officials with ties to China when he took control.
