Copfag here. People need to understand that policing is a job, like any other job. So is the army. You're going to have genuine workers who want to do the best they can, and you're going to have lazy shitters who shouldn't have a badge.
A lot of it is the media overexaggerating incidents, and it's also the old saying that "one bad egg ruins a batch." my department at least has gotten good at weeding out the douches.
Also, miscommunication is a big issue. An officer will do something that makes sense to us, but it won't be explained to the person caught in the mix.

I've never had a bad run in with a police officer. Most of the people I know that have had an issue were assholes to them and wouldn't admit they did anything wrong. If you admit to them that you fucked up they're usually willing to work with you. I forgot to get my registration renewed and it had been a solid 6 months until I got pulled over. Officer let me go and said "Plead not guilty to the ticket, if you have the registration I'll drop the charges altogether so you don't have to pay any fines" and he was true to his word.

The only bad experiences i've had have been with female cops and younger cops who work in rich white suburban communities. AKA Cops with shit to prove.
The cops who deal with real shit tend to be more laid back. They can usually tell within 2 seconds of talking to you if you're a law abider or an asshole. 9 times out of 10 they have more important things to do than fuck with you.

Drug/Narcotic departments don't focus much on more than the busts patrol officers or other specialized divisions do. We keep track of the dealers, pimps, and regular turds in our area so we can quell their shit.
I think overtime pay for police causes a lot of problems. They have to "perform" which means they have to make arrests to get paid which leads to some very predatory policing. Not like it's ever going to stop though because it keeps criminal case lawyers in business.

I'm a good friend to the police. I've reported my apartment neighbors for smoking weed before. As long as you're not a criminal, you have nothing to fear from them.

Officers are people, and they are going to have unique personalities, which may manifest in positive or negative ways depending on geographic culture and workplace culture.
Thanks to my educational background and my employer hiring off duty police for security, I know a ton of police officers. All of them are fucking bros and they are some of the most nicest, amazing people I know. But I'm not stupid enough to say this applies to all cops; there are some real shitheads out there.

Here's the thing: a few guys I went to school with became police officers. I know how they were in school and seriously doubt they've changed all that much since becoming a cop. So while I know there are many upstanding folks in the police force, there's also plenty that become a cop to abuse their power or get off on being "the law."

Police are the cause of the rampant degeneracy in America. Cops depend on the existance of crime to secure their power and funding. They are the ones who engineer the criminal underworld for the most efficient possible "harvests".
This is how the racket works: The cops use an army of "informants" who are legally allowed to commit crimes for "surveillance". These are the top-tier criminals who push most of the drugs and launder most of the money. They make sure kickbacks get sent to the cops and recruit/train/employ kids off the street to join the criminal enterprise. As long as the informant is "gathering intelligence" the cops will leave that gang alone, sometimes for years at a time while they destroy the neighborhood. This causes the normies to demand more funding for the cops, as well as securing the greatest amount of black market kickbacks.
As soon as the informants start to lose influence in the gang (the underlings will get cocky and uppity after a while), or the gang is around too long and the normies start wondering why the cops never arrest them, the cops harvest the gang. They raid everyone, take all the drugs and money (which they get to spend), throw the gangsters into slave-labor prisons, look like heroes, and make room for the next group of criminals-in-training. Their informant narc (almost always the gang leader) get a comfy retirement in witness protection on the taxpayers dime.
This is why we need militia law-enforcement and need to move away from the prison system and back to traditional punishments.
