> A Russian state-run media website recently reported that Moscow plans to build the "biggest aircraft carrier in the world" to compete with the US's 11 full-sized Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.
> The new Russian carrier concept, called the "Shtorm," would match the size of the US's current carriers, displacing about 100,000 tons and carrying a similar number of aircraft, despite the the site's claim that it would be the biggest carrier in the world.
Doesn't it seem stupid to build one giant carrier when you could build numerous Nimitz sized carriers for probably cheaper?
Nathaniel Bell
What's the bet they'll match tonnage by dumping cubic metres of pig iron into a storage area or something equally retarded?
Jayden James
what's the point? Russia and the US have enough defensive capabilities, why waste so much money on one-upping each other on pointless proxy wars when the obscene amounts of money would be better spent on the terrible infrastructure of both nations?
Thomas Bailey
>his aircraft engines are so powerless they actually need half of they carriers loaded with piston catapults in order to take off. Even your aircraft is on the welfare. White man planes can actually flyoff with ramps just fine.
Ryan Diaz
TWO FUCKING RAMPS
Luke Gonzalez
People like you who ruin all the fun.
Eli Thomas
There are pros and cons for having ramps.
Pros:
>Doesn't have to rely on a catapult, which could potentially fail and become irreparable without having to dry dock >Less stress on air frames caused by catapult therefore less maintenance on the aircraft
Cons:
>Take off weight become somewhat reduced, therefore can only be equipped for a specific role, or if it's multirole, less of what a catapulted aircraft could equip >Slight amount more fuel used for the takeoff
I'm sure there are more for both, but nothing comes to mind at this point
Luke Gray
>what's the point? so they too can invade other countries.
David Cooper
You don't really understand what Russia is all about, huh? It's not about invading, it's not about building up their military. It's about another big project where they can embezzle money. Just like that bridge to Crimea, just like that FIFA stadium where North Korean slaves work. Russia is a cleptocracy.
Evan Perry
this
Jackson Watson
But how are they going to pay for that?
And who is going to build it for them? France again?
Jace Sanchez
By lowering their medical and social budgets into nothing. They've been using their state-owned pension fund for the last four years as their piggy bank, but it's running out. So are the reserve funds.
Carson Rivera
>But how are they going to pay for that? "buid it or gulag" >And who is going to build it for them? France again? glorious russian engineering
Jayden Green
>new biggest carrier called shitstorm
man, russians really know how to name their wartoys
Brody Hill
Isnt the nimiz already fucking huge already? I expected them to make it just a tad bigger for the title.
Cooper Johnson
...
Ian Mitchell
Russia does absolutely nothing with navy.
They're surrounded by Japan+South Korea+China from the East, surrounded by fucking GLACIERS north and NATO by West.
They do nothing with navy. They are blockdaded
Jaxson Perez
only handicaps use ramps mongoloid
Cameron Taylor
This
There is no point in having a carrier when all the nations you may want to bully share a border with you.
It's cheaper to invest in anti-carrier missiles, like China, Russia and possibly the DPRK already do.
James Barnes
simply because we/they can
Nathan Hill
It will ecological Russians soldier will pedal to move it
Samuel Wilson
>finance Why the fuck this was filed under "finance"?
Lincoln Morgan
Two fucking ramps. Can't make this shit up.
Landon Rivera
...
Oliver Williams
LMAO
Elijah Cook
fake news , if russia will spend money on navy it will be rocket boats and submarines if it would be aircraft carrier it will be small, cheap, poorly armored with tons of anty air weapons
Blake Fisher
pls call it Cyka Blyat
Landon Sanders
>anty air >checks flag how can you typo that it's anti air not anty
what teh fuck
Blake Wilson
Pic related
Benjamin Torres

Joshua Morgan
>having ships without stealth smokescreens you need to step your game up burger
Thomas Brown
kek sad because it's true
Kevin Sanchez
how many aircraft carriers does the US have? >wont even get to see the enterprise until at least a decade
Ryder Baker
>*blocks your path*
Hudson Rivera
It's ugly, desu. Kuznetsov was considerably more aesthetic.
Russians are also building the most aesthetic ship in the world IMO - Project 23650 Lider.
64x cruise missile 56x S-500N ultra-long-range/ABM AA missile 128x S-350N Poliment-Redut long range AA missile 3x Pantsir M combined CIWS/missile SHORAD 1x 130 mm dual purpose gun ASW suite 1x Ka-52K (shit has a fucking gunship to it fuck) 1x Ka-27
Aesthetic as fuck, and shits on air superiority.
Joseph Foster
i still do mistakes in british (had dyslexia even in my native) like it matter anyway
Hudson Gutierrez
It looks like it has a sorta-snowman on top of it, desu.
Leo Phillips
I really don't see how they will be able to build it, if we can't even make in reasonable timeframe few small boats, like project 22350, 20380 and 11356. Seriously, just google that shit and look at the dates.
Meanwhile, 'muricans shit out Arleigh Burkes from their arses like hot cakes.
Fuck fleet our fleet basically. Just invest in more rockets and subs.
Josiah Hughes
Why is every interesting thing the Russian military does either a model or a CGI-image?
Don't be so pessimistic. If we could make our part of the Mistral we can make this. It'll surely require investments, though.
Easton Lopez
>Are you guys also gonna put a ramp on the end? There is literally nothing wrong with ramps.
Brody Turner
because Russia can't actually do anything
unlike the old germans who were both crazy enough and smart enough to build whatever they wanted, Russia is just crazy.
Isaiah Ortiz
I call bullshit - aircraft carriers are outdated as fuck in case of any even remotely symmetrical conflict. If you're not going to invade and oppress some third world shitholes on the other side of the world there's no use for them. Why would russia waste any money on such thing given their geopolitical stance?
Elijah Powell
Surely it would be better to have a few small ones.
Noah Jones
Is the Kuznetsov leaking or what the hell is that giant oil spill looking stuff on the sea
Lincoln Myers
>Pider Oh yes!
Evan Long
I've never shat a hotcake out my arse before. Is this a Thing now?
Fuck. I'm always behind what the kids are into these days.
Leo Taylor
Some Sup Forums-tard photoshopped it on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig fire.
Kevin Flores
Because Putin and his friends build the ships with companies they own. There's a lot of money in it.
Dylan Fisher
Well, this is actually the ship Russia needs. No much need for an aircraft carrier at any rate. If every fleet had 2 of these to maintain one being fully operational at all times, they would have complete security in air. Their smaller frigates are actually pretty amazing, UKShK vertical launch system can be installed in ships with as little as 1500t displacement, literally ocean fishing boat tier.
Meanwhile, the Mk41 VLS demands 9500t minimum.
Jayden Russell
yeah, it's probably fake news
also, they never even bothered to retrofit their 2 diesel carriers with nuclear reactors even tho they have a trillion nuclear subs and nuclear cruisers, would have been an easy task
it's just not worth the investment
Eli Price
:-(
Nathaniel Gray
Where is the oilrig
Dominic Jones
But why carriers tho? I mean, we will need to build few more boats like that, less we will struggle like French with their carrier that permanently stuck in the maintenance bay. Not to mention colossal money sink. Muricans rotate their shit and usually have like 5 carriers up and running/ready to go while others chill and undergo maintenance.
>looks at flag >defends ramp
Oh, it's ramp user. You virtually seems to be in every fleet related threads.
Jason Kelly
:-(.
Ayden Cruz
:- (
Jacob Jenkins
think of the coal consumption of that thing
Robert Wilson
Dick measuring, plus it's better to keep some form of force projection. Until we get our pulse engines worked on enough, at least.
Henry Cox
When you out of planes, you could pollute enemy to death. Fucc you greenpeace!
Noah Garcia
>Almost 2,000 men. Twenty-five latrines. Do the math. Training and morale are so poor that in 2009 Admiral Kuznetsov sailors apparently botched an at-sea refueling, spilling hundreds of tons of fuel into the Irish Sea, pictured at left.
No point in making ships bigger than they need to be any more, and I love bashing other countries as much as the next leaf, but I'll actually give the Russians the benefit of the doubt that the age of overly massive ships are no longer a thing.
Noah Jackson
Also, if they are just catching up to American carriers why is this news.
Jaxson Wright
Did you notice Russian propaganda's MUH MIGHTY MUH NEW WEEPONS narrative?
They are covering some MAJOR fuck up.
Nathan Ramirez
russia has to build big to scare off the americans. like the tsar bomba, it doesn't matter if it's practical, it's a show of power.
Michael Barnes
That's one of the few modern warship designs that looks good. Very aesthetic.
Jack Perez
>crazy enough and smart Why did they lose then?
Benjamin Morris
Because they actually wasted their resources and time on crazy shit.
Ian Clark
Because the rest of the world was dumb.
Kevin Perry
Because numbers advantage is still numbers advantage. You fuckers had absolutely shit tier army that our country made look like a fuckingj joke for 4 years but you flooded the battlefield with fucking slav after slav with no regard to tactic and human life an """"won""""
