Danzig was a big part. Land that contained high majority of ethnic Germans owned by Poland because of the treaty of Versailles and ethnic Germans being persecuted, and Poland had a lot of communists.

Poland was eager for starting shit with Germany. Many border crossings between 1920 and 1933 already. The "Poland stronk" attitude was abused by Britain and the US, giving them the clean slate against Germany.

The led to "Poland even stronger" and they went a bit full retard too fast even for Britain. The brits tried to stop Poland in the last 3 weeks before the war but Poland wasn't listening anymore. As a result, Hitler that idiot took the bait and invaded Poland before France and Britain were ready (they expected to fight later, at least a year later).

There was more than one reason for the invasion. Poland trying shit at the German border since 1920, oppressed German minority in Poland, Poland mobilizing against Danzig, Poland removing their diplomat so that no talks were possible anymore except through Britain (what could go wrong) after they received the clean slate. Shortly before the war, Poland blowing up train train tracks to east Prussia, even shooting at commercial planes at one or two occasions....

Then probably some part of the Lebensraum meme is true, then getting back the old clay from the preWW1 time, especially the areas rich in natural resources (I believe one area held like 70% of total German resources of a certain relevant ore).

And no it wasn't because much Germans were genocided, there were probalby like 200 Germans killed in Poland from 1920-1939, there was no genocide, just heavy oppression, i.e. farm land taken, German schools closed, random beatings before the war etc.
