A man is challenging red light cameras, by studying the reasoning behind the timing of yellow lights. His study indicated that traffic light cameras, a source for major revenue was shorting the time of the yellow light.
Guess what happened:
>Did the Big Liberal State adjust the yellow time? (power back to the people)
>Did the Big Liberal State refund tickets? (honesty is the best policy)
>Or did the Big Liberal State label the guy a criminal? (pick up that can, citizen)
I wonder how much more money is "collected" for those programs. BRB will find out how much money.
Isaac Peterson
If they put him in jail to scare him I would be mad. If they charged $500 to a poor guy who couldn't pay it I would be mad.
But I'm pretty sure he can scramble up$500, and think about all the notoriety he can squeeze out of this. The news article alone will make him more famous than anyone else in the boring state of Oregon. He can milk it and get paid big money.
Or if he has no shame he can go to kickstarter and beg for people to give him cash.
Robert Adams
>only looking at the light in front of you to determine when to slow down you probably deserve it, are you fucking Asian?
learn to drive you soft cunt
Gavin Watson
Not surprised that the states that prohibit red light cameras are red states. With the exception of Maine.
Those blue states have collected 1 billion in camera tickets in 2016 alone. Thats a lot mo money for dem programs.
Wyatt Peterson
I'm going to go with number three, with a side of shoving dildos up their asses.
Isaiah Brooks
He might get some notoriety, but more than that it shows that Big Government is difficult to reign in. The story has gone national.
I find it funny that since he got finned for being an "illegal engineer"- this in and of itself is symptomatic of Big Government, it will become a bigger story.
I wonder if Bill Nye is an "illegal scientist"
Lincoln Myers
They guy is not Asian, but the story does not indicate what his wife- the source of the original ticket- is.
The fact that is putting up a fight, as a citizen gives us hope. Clearly, the state is gaming the camera for revenue. More power to him.
Ryder Thomas
I've just given up completely. >MTA raises metrocard prices by 25 cents again with no justification >no one cares >a move to halt rising rent rates is denied >no one cares >people organize a vague and aimless women's march with no concrete goals whatsoever and no purpose other than virtue-signalling >tens of thousands of people flock to the street It's hopeless.
Adrian Foster
WINRAR. The state basically told him fuck off, pay me.
Ayden Allen
Well that's what happens when most people in your country have it too good. You should be glad.
Ryder Edwards
Really research is illegal now?
Michael Moore
What law specifically did he violate though?
> But rather than appreciating his findings, the Board fined him $500 because he engaged in unlicensed “practice of engineering.”
That's not legal. He wasn't building anything, or affecting anyone, he simply took down some recordings, and did some math. The guy is an electrical engineer, he didn't even need to have a degree to do that. He's suing the state, luckily, and he'll most definitely win since they have no ground to stand on whatsoever.
Ryan King

Dylan Watson
why are brits so fucking stupid
Andrew Mitchell
But that's the point--it's not too good, people are just too retarded to focus on the actual issues. Instead they make issues out of non-issues while the actual issues collapse the country around their ears.

As a resident I can confirm Judges in Oregon are mostly vermin and nobody will be on his side if he makes a case. The police here legitimately ARE dogs for the rich, I've had encounters with them where they're more willing to just ignore crime happening to save their own asses.
Julian Ross
Half of the world's roundabouts are in France (more than 30,000 as of 2008)
Landon Fisher
wat about 600$ ?
Julian Hernandez
If you're taking any sort of long ride, metrocards are incredibly worth it. Think about how far you can go for $2.75 and think about how much it would cost to get there any other way.
Ethan Stewart
Maine is half-red. We can split our electoral votes.
Jonathan Smith
>unlicensed engineering
You can't make this shit up.
Chase Sanders
There are loads of multi-lane roundabouts here, especially coming off motorways
Connor Anderson
That's what they make appeals courts outside of the state for.
My state tried to ban monks who literally live in a monastery and hand-carve their own caskets out of wood because they were not members of some special super exclusive big government licensing board that controls funeral-related shit. The government got blown the fuck out in court, and it was upheld all the way up to the Supreme Court.
Gabriel Reed
Its like they want to fine him for bringing to light corruption. I'm sure he will win too, but it is Oregon. I'm sure the citizens there would say something like: get a bike instead.
What would actually happen if everyone gave up driving? The economy would collapse. The average driver pays over 45 dollars extra in fees, and surcharges on their insurance, and car registration, they pay an average of 50 cents per gallon in taxes and fees per gallon of gas, and the parking tickets from convoluted signs, and quick yellow lights,I discovered, brings in 1 billion in fines annually.
More Money for Dem programs indeed.
Adrian Hughes
I actually am thinking of going to Poland.

John King
Round abouts or what we call traffic circles, have less accidents and less traffic tickets.
Wyatt Myers

The worst part is the state most likely spent 5000% more on the litigation of just the first appeal hearing compared to the fine they would have liked to impose.
Daniel Gomez

Lighted intersections have 30-45 mile an hour requirments for some areas. However, I know that parts of the midwest have 80 mile an our roads that extend for miles and miles.
Julian Russell
They did this in Chicago. Turned out that Mayor (((Emmanuel))) had a campaign donor that ended up getting the contract that issued traffic light tickets and collected and the fines.
Adrian Hall
The phrase "big government" had been used by the big eared one in the same context and inflection.
Eli Turner
We took the subway because we didn't want to rent a car. We took those yellow taxis and the subway. The subway was dirty, and there was a black homeless man laying down on the bench with a large empty beer bottle oscillating with the gyrations and turns of the train.
We started taking the taxis after that. Although there was some group that entertained the subway train and performed a musical number of sorts- a group of black men sang accapella. While I support the arts, I think that they should reduce the price/non refundable deposit, and eliminate the entertainment.
Luis Adams
You don't think the average Oregonian would support this man in his quest for fair red light cameras? I disagree. I think that even liberals in liberal states can side with this man. Although they might actually uphold the >unlicensed engineering.
James Collins
>multi lane is a rotary
I'm sure the Brits have a fruitier term for it though.

Automated traffic cameras were deemed illegal/Unconstitutional in AZ for awhile, though I think that's changed now.

There is no "big liberal government"
There is only big government, period, and you shills have defended identical right-wing abuses time and time again. The government-citizen relationship in this story is exactly the belief parroted and endorsed by you shills over and over again. If this occurred in a Republican state or at the hands of some right-leaning institution, you be doubling down on their action, calling him a criminal.
The only reason you're pretending to care about his being mistreated is so you can flame the librul phantom.
And it was NOT that he discovered that they were shorting the yellow light on camera to ticket people, it was that his research concluded that the yellow light was simply too short.
Obviously what happened to him in return is bullshit. I'm sure he'll win his suit.
Julian Perry

People mistakenly throw the word "liberal" in where they clearly mean leftism. Based professor K defined leftism by two manifestations: #1. A crippling, unshakable inferiority complex; through which many of the manifestations of modern society are a projection of. #2. Oversocialization; the idea that the behaviors of human beings should be controlled and shaped to the benefit of social order at the expense of individual autonomy.
So in this case we clearly are seeing a case of leftism. Society needs the money from those traffic tickets to keep the wheels greased "For the greater good." and thus the man challenging the legitimacy of people's loss of personal freedom is to be 're-socialized' through punitive measures.
Michael Foster
>If this occurred in a Republican state or at the hands of some right-leaning institution, you be doubling down on their action, calling him a criminal.
see: The phrase Big Liberal Governent is a pejorative term I used because I have liberals and their money grabbing schemes.
Not only do they cheat the driver out of time on the yellow, they over reach on the regulation of traffic studies. They essentially told this man to move it along, and ignore what you see. At that point its not about libs, its about tyranny.
This Oregonian is tossing the tea in to the harbor. Enough already.
Austin Martin
Poor people can give up half their food and survive. Might as well fine them that. And you only "need" six hours of sleep a night. The state should be able to force you to work the other 18.

I legitimately don't understand how this is even an issue. How could it possibly be illegal to discuss the mathematics of traffic lights? If he sues the state of Oregon, he will surely win, right?
Juan Foster
Remember that old adage. I disagree with you but will defend your right to voice your opinion, and petition your government. This is the antithesis of what those left wing BAMN groups stand for.

HOLY FUCK I KNEW THEY WERE DOING THIS
They are doing the same fucking thing here in Hamilton Ontario. I suspected it instantly. Not surprising.
Owen Peterson
Neither of those two things are leftism. That is someone trying to define leftism entirely with concepts that have nothing to do with it. Leftism is truly things such as socialism, communism, taxes, welfare, etc., and also concepts like equality. It doesn't have to be all of those things or 100% of any of them, but along tgisw general lines.
The two things you mentioned can be found in left and right aligned peoples.
Chase Howard
50 years ago politicians would be labeled traitors and removed for this shit Yet we sit around and do nothing this is why they're going to win.
Easton Walker
>Liberal Government
What the fuck is liberal about for-profit interests in government? The actual socialist party here opposes even private healthcare companies making too much money, because it's morally wrong. Not that they're very clear on what they can do about it.
Big government, certainly. But the more left you go, the more they want to solve it with taxes. The more right you go, the more they want to privatize and create monied interests out of public services (like toll roads and for-profit prisons in the US).
Kayden Lopez
The average Oregonian lives in Portland as a hipster or is on heroin. The good people are a minority who live in small towns.
Asher Gray
You kind of sound like a statist boot-licking faggot here. You might want to rethink your philosophy on life. Allowing the government to persecute those people proving that they are culpable in ripping people off is unacceptable.
Oliver Gonzalez
He doesn't have to pay the fine, he can just tell them to fuck off lol. That's what I always do when the city sends me a stop light camera, the city =/ the legal system. Get educated you dumb plebs and stop listening to every single person in an authority position.
Christian Collins
You don't have to pay a city traffic light 'citation' because they never went through a court/legal system. It is a robot , on behalf of the local city, sending you a bill in the mail, not the police, not the courts for that city, just the city. Legally, the city can do zilch to you if you refuse to pay because they aren't following the legal system.
Parker Johnson
