>In a common declaration, signed by Pope Francis and Coptic Pope Tawadros II, Catholics and Copts declare for the first time that they will recognise each other’s sacrament of baptism.
Very far I would say. We're talking about dogma here.
Samuel Long
Probably still quite far. These things have to be done slowly. I imagine some Copts will be uneasy with it and it'll take some time after each step to show there was nothing to be worried about

Does someone have a good podcast? I love listening to podcasts while working out but I miss a nice faith-related one.

If something is true just because it's ancient and written down then what about the epic of Gilgamesh?
I encourage all to read the epic of Gilgamesh, from ancient Mesopotamia, if nothing else it is entertaining.

Don't know of any podcasts, but there's a lot of stuff on youtube as said. I especially recommend the fidelium channel
>Ratzinger notes that a study of the origins of the creation texts in the Wisdom literature especially reveal that they were written to respond to the Hellenistic civilization confronted by the Israelites. 13 Thus, it is not surprising that the human authors of these accounts did not use the image of the six days to assert their faith in the one Creator God. This image would not have been appropriate for their time and would not have been understood by their Greek contemporaries. In contrast, a study of the origins of the Hexaemeron, the six-day account of creation, found in the first chapter of Genesis reveals that it was written to respond to the seemingly victorious Babylonian civilization confronted by the Israelites several centuries before their encounter with the Greeks. Here, the human author of the sacred text used images familiar to their pagan contemporaries to refute the Enuma Elish, the Babylonian creation account that claimed that the world was created when Marduk, the god of light, killed the primordial dragon. 14 Thus, as Cardinal Ratzinger points out, it is not surprising that nearly every word of the first creation account addresses a particular confusion of the Babylonian age. For instance, when the Sacred Scriptures affirm that in the beginning, the earth was without form and void (cf. Gen. 1:2), the sacred text refutes the existence of a primordial dragon. When they refer to the sun and the moon as lamps that God has hung in the sky for the measurement of time (cf. Gen. 1:14), the text refutes the divinity of these two great celestial bodies believed to be Babylonian gods.
Second this. Also would recommend works of Fr. John A. Ryan & Arthur Penty

"Since then these things are manifest to us, and we have looked into the depths of the divine knowledge, we ought to do in order all things which the Master commanded us to perform at appointed times. He commanded us to celebrate sacrifices and services, and that it should not be thoughtlessly or disorderly, but at fixed times and hours. He has Himself fixed by His supreme will the places and persons whom He desires for these celebrations, in order that all things may be done piously according to His good pleasure, and be acceptable to His will. So then those who offer their oblations at the appointed seasons are acceptable and blessed, but they follow the laws of the Master and do not sin. For to the high priest his proper ministrations are allotted, and to the priests the proper place has been appointed, and on Levites their proper services have been imposed. The layman is bound by the ordinances for the laity."

>Quadragesimo anno >The encyclical describes in considerable detail a desired tripartist corporatist social structure in which government, industry, and labor work together in concert as part of a third way between capitalism and communism. Corporatism was widely adopted in the fascist nations of Catholic Europe, including the regimes of António de Oliveira Salazar in Portugal, Benito Mussolini in Italy, Francisco Franco in Spain, and Engelbert Dollfuss in Austria. The Communist left regarded the encyclical as a partisan document, in which the Pope gave his blessing to the Fascist regimes.

We need a more traditional Pope after Francis and Cardinal Sarah could be that guy, the media would have a hard time but they'll still try to slander him because they just can't stand the church.

>“The Church is gravely mistaken as to the nature of the real crisis if she thinks that her essential mission is to offer solutions to all the political problems relating to justice, peace, poverty, the reception of migrants, etc.
In God or Nothing back in 2013, His Eminence already mentioned that, about how the church charity programs were forgetting to feed people spiritually as well.
I don't have cable but I watch their content on Youtube. Haha yeah, it does seem kinda poor like it's barely staying alive but it's the largest Religious network in the World in tv, radio, online, and they bought the National Catholic Register Newspaper years ago. I guess there's a difference to quality on tv and the Internet but the channel was started by Mother Angelica single-handily in a garage in Alabama. They put good stuff and I like listening to Mother Angelica, I think she was a wise woman

I am legitimately surprised how all of this checks out to be true. The monastery garage studio too. I suppose that it began with monks explains the poverty of it all but they are doing a ridiculously good job through it. Excellent stuff.
I actually don't know much of Mother Angelica but I know she is popular. I'll have to look into her work.

I like the "Coming Home" show they broadcast too. It's converts from other religions and beliefs talking about why they became Catholic and it's always interesting what they have to say about their former beliefs and entering into the Catholic Church

This is an ever-growing list of videos and stories that touching, sweet, and relevant to Catholic Generals as they are all triumphs of love and/or the human experience. Catholics aren't far from it. The essence of the structure is still there, it is only more pronounced given that it has power now. The cause of the reformation was Luther's disagreements came about at the same time as the rise of the printing press that allowed people to spread the word quickly of it. Civil leadership found this good reason to reject the church for their interests and many found Luther persuasive. The church, in turn, rejected them strongly and focused on their heresies rather than their actual criticisms (which were only the abuse of indulgences by priests and the wealth of the pope at the time).
But Luther went heavily from trying to reform the church to believing the church was evil and had no claim to authority, becoming absolutely ridiculous and getting lots of fans from leaders who didn't want to be under the guidance of the church.

Which occurred during the death of Luther quite some time later. By the time of that Luther had already gone from contending church abuses to calling the Vatican the Whore of Babylon and hoping the Muslims destroy it. This si also where this line of thought began too.
Did you guys know that Catholic Priests in Germany can (and are urged to) deny you the Holy Sacraments, if you don't pay church tax. How is this not indulgence all over again? How is it, that the Catholic Church in Germany works with the left and is against the family?

I have been interested in the idea of combining Catholic Generals, Orthodox Generals, and including Oriental Christians as well. While we have infighting in such a scenario, it would allow for discourse on a level more serious than with Protestant crowds of whom we have a mutual rejection of. Further, our worldview is similar enough to immediately open discourse together unlike with the Protestant denominations. Further, such a thread structure would allow for apostolic christians to open in discourse to reach truth and unite against modernism that threatens us mutually.
Why you guys be interested in an Apostolic Christianity General?
