Better

They were when the world went downhill.

1980s were the cultural apex of humanity.
youtube.com/watch?v=RYbe-35_BaA

They were full of hope, good music, good cartoons.
Really after 2001, the world seems completely different. And it never stopped getting shittier.

Rad. Great music. Music died after 1998.

I graduated high school in 2000 ask me anything OP

This is exactly how I feel.

The future looked golden and glorious in the 90s. Now.. it just looks like a fucking nightmare.

There's a reason quality sci-fi doesn't really exist anymore. Sci-fi is fueled by optimism, giving people a dream of a better future. Reality TV just makes people envy the rich and famous and dream of personal wealth rather than the betterment of mankind.

I went from feeling like we were at the dawn of a new age of man to thinking we were a generation or two away from extinction.

they sucked but they were better, you could find legitimate people, the women looked normal and if you got your ass kicked into the pavement it was your own fault

but drugs everywhere, just different drugs, more people on stimulants then now everybody is on sedatives

A bit whiter

you are right. what was it exactly that changed at that time? was it clear channel?

Everyday was like an episode of Friends.

Coffee shops were independent and comfy.

Music was better.

We had more B-52s.

Until 1995, our B-1Bs were nuclear capable (Clinton had the PALs removed).

In the 90s we thought we'd have a mars colony by now.

Little better. Almost no normies on internet and globalism wasnt this bad.

I dream of the extinction, I welcome it. Let us bathe in nuclear fireballs one last time. All together.

Nice and segregated. The 80's were superior though.

Clear Channel destroyed radio. Then the music industry was allowed to pump out trash as all the stations played what they were told.

Those were the days when the liberal project did not seem to end with our destruction. It seemed like history had ended, settling into a comfortable state.

Chrono Trigger came out 1995. So the 90s were bretty gud

It was okay because I was a young child with good parents. I played hockey and soccer. My friends and I spent our afternoons and evenings playing in the river valley, climbing trees, playing soldiers in the woods. In winter time we would go tobogganing. On Friday nights I would watch Boy Meets World with my sisters. On Saturdays, my parents would take me and my siblings swimming. On the way home, we would stop at the video store and rent a couple movies: I remember watching Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Camp Nowhere, Heavyweights, and Scream (which I watched with my sister and gave me nightmares). Sometimes on weekends I would camp out in the living room with my little brother, pulling the cushions out of the couch and laying them on the floor. We would watch wrestling or hockey. After he fell asleep, I would turn on the TV and watch Southpark (which was banned in my house). I had to sit right next to the TV with the volume low so I didn't get caught.

Sunday morning was dreadful because my mom would wake us up for church. We had to wash up and comb our hair and put on dress clothes. But once church was over, Sunday afternoons were the best. We all looked forward to The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights, and when I was a little older, The Simpsons.

I hope you all had good childhoods, no matter what decade. But being a child in the 90s was awesome.

Video games had full-blown expansion packs instead of DLC that just changes the color the outfit your character is wearing.

THIS! AND NOT "A BIT" BUT A FUCKING LOT WHITER!

It was like the last ray of sunlight from a greater time.

I guess that was a bit of understatement on my part

You could go places and it wasn't riddled with shit skins.
You could go to the skating rink and get a blow job from a highschool girl...Again, no darkies or shitskins.
Think of it like this... White people roamed the streets riding bikes and playing two touch football, freeze tag, late night summer parties. Police would just give you a ride home if you were drunk or out past curfew. Times were better then. Simpler too. A lot less gay people. And when you saw a trans person you could laugh at them because that is what you were supposed to do.

The 90's had REAL SUPER SOAKERS

youtube.com/watch?v=Wurn7kaAQ80

Videogames were also thoroughly tested and released in a finished state before hitting the stores.

I remember when I was a really young kid, probably like 6 or 7 and those were too heavy for me to hold but I still really liked super soakers

>a bit
A lot

Fun. You had more face-to-face interaction and less internet intrusion in your life.

Though, late-90s internet was fun as it wasn't completely corrupted yet.

MTV actually played music quite often. Great TV and movies and FAR less PC culture shit. It was there, but it was nowhere near as overbearing as it is now.

Beer was cheap and you could smoke in pubs. (Not a good thing as I can't stand smoking)

Agree and disagree. It did keep getting better into the 90's because of the tech revolution and high paying jobs that didn't require a college education. Shit went downhill rapidly in the 00's because of globalism.

100% It was the last great decade. Good times and prosperity were ramping up since the 60's and peaked in the 90's.

100% last of good rock music died in the last few years of the 90's. Sad times. The 90's had so much good music that I had even forgotten about some of the bands. Recently went back and started listening to some bands that didn't get a lot of attention and holy shit. It seems there was so much good music that there just wasn't enough time to explore artists any further.

I understand in these threads people typically wax nostalgic, but seriously the economy and culture were both in better spots then.

>women looked normal

Holy shit I forgot about this. Being fat wasn't the norm, and fat people were shamed horrendously.

The internet was fucking a lot of fun. More like a wild west.

Favorite game in the entire world.

>there are millennials today who haven't played this game.

Depends on where you went and when.

The central Florida fair used to be a great place when I was a kid. Then sometime after high school it turned into nigger Disney Land. They even hosted a rap concert one year where people were shot. I haven't been back since.

Feels bad man. Used to be one of the things I looked forward to all year long, even as a young adult. Now I would never let my kids go there because niggers ruined it.

Old man here.

Now listen up, all of the opinions of these cunts are invalid. Why? Because they were fucking CHILDREN in the 90s. I was in my mid 20s and I was paying taxes, living on my own and in a relationship. I had a job, a car and I could understand the world. Everyone posting here wasn't even 12 by the start of 2000. The Millennials will say the 90s were awesome because of the cartoons and trading cards, well of course you'll say that. Your rose-tinted nostalgiafag goggles make you believe that because you were only a child. Did you have to worry about the economy? No. Did you have to work your ass off and meet deadlines? No. Did you have a family to support? No. Did you spend the 90s learning basic math and watching cartoons while being oblivious to the world? Yes, yes you did.

The world didn't get any shittier, you just grew up and realised that politicians are thieving scumbags. Bush was no worse than Clinton and that's a fact. As a matter of fact, outside of the United States the 1990s was a time of conflict. The UK opened up the decade with the Poll Tax Riots and spent it enduring IRA bombings, John Major was a massive prick as well. The kids here didn't have it as good as the Americans did either, poverty was HUGE although it still is today.

To me, 9/11 was just a wake-up call for the USA. They couldn't stay in their fantasy land forever.

Also before you say it, there were lots of cultural enrichment in the UK even in the 90s. It wasn't a pure white haven.

they looked like this

Women didn't wear shit loads of make up

>checks flag

Fuck off snaggle toothed island dweller. Maybe not in your 3rd world country but in the US the 80's and 90's were far superior to the 00's.

>dial up connection
>grunge music
>slime time live
>clinton dick sucking
>having to actually rent VHS tapes (and getting fined for forgetting to rewind)
>you bought CDs (unless we're talking the late 90s with napster)
>my first CD-rewritable drive (no DVD functions) cost $200
>gas was $1.50 a gallon
>food was CHEAP

don't kid yourself, we live in a much better era. the only thing that sucks is the price of everything has gone up but you can also attribute that to inflation

So what you're saying is, the older you get, the senile you get.

Gas was 97 cents in 1997.

1999-2004 were the best years all of you have shit taste

Wrong. 97-01.

the gay 90s were maximum /comfy/

American inferiority complex.

You probably didn't even come to terms with the repercussions of 9/11 until many years later. Probably took one look at the screen and went back to playing with your Lego. Leave the conversation to the actual grown-ups.

No, the older you get the more life experience you have.

Life experience can be wanted and forced upon. The thrill of riding roller coasters is an experience that some want while getting stabbed is a life experience that nobody wants. Regardless they'll both change you from the tiniest thought to the largest memory.

>have a sweet 65 convertible kahrman ghia
>fill the tank for less than $7
>lasts 2 weeks
>could live off a shitty retail wage
>didn't need a college education for higher paying jobs

>le wrong generation

semi-true

>the start up of the chans/internet
>no censorship
>complete internet freedom
>plenty of happenings
>everything was original
>either kids with aspergers-tier humor having fun or pedos looking for kids
>tons of internet happenings
>you could've started a chan

The music sucked.

What was it like being gay back then

Whiter. More people raising kids and starting families. Safer, pre 9/11 world. Less racial tension, Suburbs we seen as the ideal place to live. World seemed so much more alive and happy

youtube.com/watch?v=2MRdtXWcgIw

I jacked off to the Starr Report in 1999 when my local newspaper printed it in its entirety in a special edition.

full of magic and wonder.

it all got kind of clinical halfway through the first 10 years of the century, and now it's so cold and emotionless.

Oh boy, here we go. Tell me what you think good music is?

Since about 2001-2002 I can't honestly name one band that has made anything memorable on the radio. For 15 years music has been garbage unless you find stuff on the internet.

>he thinks the internet didn't get objectively shittier when it got flooded with normies/nigs/ad revenue structuring
t. 30 year old

>thinking you're important enough to respond to this many people who weren't even talking to you

I only saw The Gays when Cindy Crawford's House of Style came on the Tube. Oh, and that video for I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt. Other thzn that I don't think they existed in the 90's

A place called Mesquite, TX. it is a suburb of Dallas. Once I got into High School nigger culture took over and it got stupid 2001-03ish. I was doing the skating thing 95-00

Nirvana was a thing.

Trent Reznor wasn't a cuck yet.

Pop Will Eat Itself released Dos Daios Mi Amigo.

Front 242 was based.

Skinny Puppy ruled.

Apoptygma Bezerk was killing it.

Faith and the Muse.

>less racial tension

>in the same decade as the LA riots
>tons of shoot-outs and deaths (ruby ridge, waco, oklahoma)
>gangster rap infiltrating young minds
>kids being turned into school shooters

dude that's what the 90s was and that's why people like it

Having the feeling that life is good and the future is only going to get better.

That may be true, in Britian.

But the 90's in America were great, thanks to based Clintons

radio became irrelevant as a medium for artists being discovered about that time. Almost everyone immediately switched to downloaded music and suddenly didn't need to be told what to like

Not as good as the 80's, better than now.

Why are there no fat people?
What happened after the 90s?

I used to steal porn magazines and jack off in the woods. Good times.

People will erroneously blame HFCS and other shit when it's just people got lazier and ate more.

It all goes downhill from 1945

It was before I found Sup Forums so I was definitely happier. See Undoubtedly growing up in a suburb with video games and toys, and later the internet lends itself to stunted social development

Ayyy I did ice skating from like 94 until 2000. Shit was so awesome and if I didn't have the forced social interaction from it I would probably be super autismo.

Not even close. The only way to access music online at that time was either illegally or through mostly unknown methods. The radio pretty much ruled until youtube became popular.

They were really, really comfy, user.

the fat people stereotype came in around 1999 or 2000 with all those michael moore documentaries about america and bush

also because of the ton of fucking sugar-filled food there that made everyone and their children fat leading into the 00s

>I was in my mid 20s and I was paying taxes, living on my own and in a relationship. I had a job, a car and I could understand the world.
>mid 20s
>owned a vehicle
>had a job
>lived on own
>You kids straddled with insane debt, who can't afford rent or a home, who many are having trouble finding a job don't know how easy you got it

nice video bro, exactly what I need right now to not kill myself. Those were better times.

This was a pretty comfy video, thanks user

1. Start of the internet, yes. But Sup Forums didn't come along until 2003, Chans were exclusively Japanese during that point.
2. Censorship was still a thing which was only made bigger by Justin Fuckface showing off Janet's tit at the Superbowl.
3. I'll give you that.
4. Plenty of happenings yet people preach the 90s as a peaceful sunshine decade? Bullshit.
5. Everything? EVERYTHING? You get originality today you just need to look for it, you've always had manufactured plastic crap movies, music etc. You had no idea of telling what consoles were good and which were shit ripoffs, there was plenty of hacks in the 90s.
6. That is not a good thing though.
7. Nothing really much happened on the internet because there were still standards, although I don't really mind those standards being removed.
8. You could, but you didn't so it isn't a justified point.

Unlike you I don't let the internet rule my life and I don't give a shit about normies. Let them slather themselves in their own shit and preach diversity.

>praising democrats
>democrats

Ah, so the same Clintons which signed into effect the legislation such as NAFTA and immigration bills that would inevitably fuck over the United States? I can't believe some of these """Sup Forumsacks""" claim to be redpilled yet defend the very filth that are responsible for today's bullshit because "MUH NOSTALGIA".

The 90s were fucking awesome, girls who were sluts but also wholesome while in public. Cheap gas, watching LA riots on TV. I miss the 90s

The only 90s music I liked at the time were Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. There was indie hipster shit in the 90s that I discovered much later that are good, but 90s radio was pure garb.

Every time this video gets posted, I just get sadder and sadder.

Itt: faggots who peaked in the 90s
We are living in the future loosers
>But the bands and cartoons arent as good
Kys or go back in time

Up until 2007 everything was still kind of ookay as good as the 90s though but then the decline started coming in really fast and in 2012 it seemed to start going faster every year.

The 90s/70s is a trick to make you vote Democrat, just as the 80s/50s is a codename for "vote GOP". Don't be fooled.

Ah, but there's some catches.

I acknowledge that it's incredibly hard to find employment and get a roof over your head, pay taxes and still have disposable income. But I used that as an argument to why most 4channers can't form justified opinions of the 90s as they didn't have to put up with the struggle as they were safe and sound in happy suburbia. Also I'm not a boomer.

This is so accurate. I remember when video cameras first started coming around everyone tried to act like a little goofy. At the time it was such a cool novelty.

I don't care about our politics. polotics has always been the same....more or less. it was the entertainment that was amazing. compared to today, it just seemed alot more innocent and literally new. so everyone was still figuring it out.
ther wasn't caller ID, there wasn't smart phones and everyone posting new picks. it was just a simpler time really.

1. I know that's the cool thing
2. good point

5. by everything i mean the memes, nothing really started up and there weren't any bland "advice animals" and shit that people kept on posting

nice!

Fug. You're right.

But at least Bitcoin is here now so we regain a bit of freedom and hope

Don't forget the green night vision glow of watching Desert Storm. Man, that was comfy.

A great time to be alive! Great and varied music, nobody stuck looking at their phones all day, no social media. People actually interacted. The biggest difference though is how overwhelmingly positive people were. You might not think it what with grunge music and depressive shit like that but it is true overall. People still believed in the future, now we are just waiting to watch it all burn. They world is a mess.

Terrible music, Although the past year or 2 is giving it a run for its money.
Played outside
Real median wages were higher, factories just starting to leave.
Women were not as nearly tattooed and pierced out, nor did many have 1000 dick stares.

This is the truth.

If you're just going to sit around and mope "WAAAAAA I WANT MY CHILDHOOD BACK" instead of actually getting off your arse and standing up for what you believe in then you just need to pull the fucking trigger because you won't get anywhere in life with that bullshit attitude.

The meek inherit NOTHING.

>indie hipster shit

Yeah, opinion discarded. Mainstream music in the 90's was so good, diverse, and available that I still can go back and listen to a band that I know of and discover more music of theirs that is fucking awesome.

You're just one of those hipster faggots that hates things because it's popular.

I wouldn't say I peaked in the 90's, because I have a high paying job and a family. It's just that society, the economy, and the outlook on the future was so much better in the 90's.

I was born in 1995 AMA

Canada is still this friendly, for now anyways.
We strike up random conversations with strangers. Maybe not in Toronto, but that's basically Jew York with maple leaves.

These three songs perfectly sum up the 90s
