Socially conscious hip hop

What are your thoughts on socially conscious hip hop? I can understand why many of you distaste the genre in genera because of the money, goes and dindu nuffin (i personally love all types of hip hop as long as it is well written). But listen to something like BlackStar, thieves in the night, i cant understand why someone wouldn't like it other than disliking the hip hop style itself

based user this is like the best socially conscious album, but it is genuinely "dindu nuffin" the album, even more so than a Kendrick record.

I love shit like this but there is a sense of disconnection because I'm a WASP listening to this, it would be mental if there was a politcal/conscious which took a different viewpoint for a change. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been an album which covers how stupid identity politics are yet.

It's cringey, a hood nigger has nothing useful to tell that goes outside of his milieu. He should stick to his guns, literally, or study sociology or some bullshit liberal arts if social conciousness is his thing.

I find the low instrumental style really bland that's all.
The thing is, a lot of the rap songs I've heard recently still put emphasis on things like drugs, money, violence and hedonism.
For instance, look at this:
genius.com/Kendrick-lamar-humble-lyrics

That's a really good album but my favourite kind of rappers are ones who say ignorant stuff in a clever way like Redman, Ghostface, Big L etc. There's a guy called Celph Titled who is the master of this.

Overly ignorant rap is fun too like Bone Thugs and Master P. Bone Thugs literally have a song about gibs, it's the nigger national anthem.

>socially conscious
It's just niggers crying about DUH MEAN OL WHITE MAN

"Too long have eyes been closed and blindfolded;
A new dawn is risin, and now the minds old enough, to know the stuff going on behind our backs;
Roll with us and you might get to find the facts"

No more moms and dads crying
No more arms in the air
We put firearms in the air
Molotov cocktails thrown in the air
Cnn got dummy Don on the air
Talking 'bout he smell that ganj in the air
Dummy don't know and dummy don't care
Get that punk motherfucker outta here
Aye, ghosts are walking
Ghosts are talking
Everything gon' be different, mane
Shh, karma's coming
Ain't no runnin'
Death gon' deal with the guilty, mane
The universe curses the killers, mane
Can't keep killin' God's children, mane
A pound of flesh is what you owe
Your debt is due, give up your ghost

unless this shit is about the jews and how blacks have an average IQ of 85 and are literally incapable of ruling themselves and creating a successful society so they should submit to the white man then it is garbage.

I'm number six on they list next to Kiss and Marley's kids
Cause I run wit Asians, Latinos and Black fists
5 percenters, Caucasians, thugs who live communist
They broke in my house, planted bugs in all my lamps and my couch
They after me (what) let me find out
I'm not havin it, My rap attract the service like a magnet
The bastards get nothing like private parties with no laminates
If I'ma die, I'ma die bustin and strugglin
I'm hustling for the people, fuck them devils and corruptions

I love that style too, but on this board, there is an easy argument for that to be nigga shit

That album just reminds me of the early-mid 2000's, staying up all night with my group of friends playing PC games over LAN and multiplayer Gamecube games; we'd always have music on in the background and we all loved this album at the time.

youtube.com/watch?v=eeTnog5RRQo

>tfw I will never go back to that time

> complaining how black people are ignorant
> complaining when they aren't ignorant

How about pol storytelling with dirty british vocals and punk beats?
youtu.be/mEVVyfYQ5YE

>Why is there no news in these newsprint rags?
>I don't really care about who MP shagged
>But still they keep feeding me foolishness

>implying undereducated blacks spewing leftist platitudes aren't ignorant

youtube.com/watch?v=HSC9cgvtkRs
This song is literally about chipping in half for a $10 bag of weed, it's undoubtedly nigger shit of the highest degree but it's fun. I like all kinds of genres and there are situations that call for ignorant fun music like this, it's not like I'm going to slap on some classical or even metal when I'm in the car with my workmates on our lunch break.

I do often put Slayer on but they're the kind of faggots who act like they're alergic to distorted guitars. I put Cult of Personality on by Living Colour once and one of them said he can't stand heavy metal. It's not metal at all.

>why don't you like leftist coon music
this thread has to be a joke kys

There are systematic obstacles that prevent the poor from progressing. I bet if you were born in Queens in the 90's, you would find it more difficult to be a middle-class upstanding citizen. It's not a justification for people's actions, it's just fact. Trying to get people to come to terms with that and progress in these situations shouldn't be anything but commended.

It isn't musically interesting at all.

If I want to see someone rhyming about "real life shit, yo", I can read poetry.

Yeah it's just not your cup of tea, I can respect that

This guy has a bit of a weird flow, but he is an incredible storyteller. Perhaps the most traditional of rap artists when it comes to the ideas:
youtu.be/ZIm2CR9i-jA

Don't think that you can wake people on social issues up through a hyper-commercialized genre like rap, that's just cynical. Teaching morals through prostitution is misleading. Gangsta rap at least doesn't hide it's inherent commercial motivation and lack of ethics, that's why for example stuff from early Mobb Deep feel more authentic than everything the fight the power retards could ever create.

I totally forgot this guy existed, I used to listen to him quite a bit. He was on one or two tracks on the Bobby Digital album IIRC. All of those countless Wu Tang affiliates from the 90's and 2000's have pretty much faded into obscurity by now.

Diabolic murdered him for his race baiting bullshit
youtube.com/watch?v=xe3nHXTUyE8
Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz make decent redpilled Rap tho. K-rino too.

One of the best ever:
youtube.com/watch?v=JtaRC9vHSgY

Vinnie Paz is at his best when he's talking about creative ways of killing gay people

>I who have nothing
Excellent taste famalam
bumping with Apathy bragging about masonic shit
youtube.com/watch?v=NSBcbpJGWjA

Because it's corny af

Apathy is legit one of the most talented rappers around today, he has been for over a decade.

youtube.com/watch?v=nP5UM_RlcjY
Here he is on some German Hip Hop

I literally find 95% of white music so goddamn corny. I have a few metal head friends and when they show me their music it feels so angsty and like a 15 year old trying to be edgy. Different tastes I guess

youtube.com/watch?v=2frJ3e0hxPE
Vinnie Paz is WOKE. Shame he's a muslim.

All white music? Even underground punk? Country? Folk? Cassical? etc.
Not that it matters, but it'd be interesting to know the reason.

Some hilarious storytelling here:
youtube.com/watch?v=QYZiIjT_xjU

Yeah, I don't mind it personally, but figured I'd post the early stuff which was based off a conspiracy type book.

Massive hyperbolization, sorry.
Mostly metal and pop I find really corny, though I do like some songs.
Country, and things like that I never found to be that interesting, just never felt a certain way about it.
White artists doing black music never bothered me, though many a time they can be very corny in hip hop
I play the violin, so I've always appreciated it. Though I still prefer hip hop, jazz and soul

Yeah I've been to a few Demigodz shows in Berlin and he always was polite and a decent conversationalist. Celph is always wasted tho.
Most german rap is pretty shit imo, except for snowgoonz and youtube.com/watch?v=uMFX2ysmy38

An alcoholic muslim who refers to himself as god and loves metal. I don't think he'd be doing too well under sharia.

Death to all Niggers

All rap/hip hop/jigaboo jungle music sucks.

Well of course you would say, that my Nip friend. I wonder what you think about
>youtube.com/watch?v=WrO9PTpuSSs
Since it originated in your country, from your 'culture', I assume you will assume your share of the responsability and kys.

Love this album. Love hip-hop in general. Love conscious rap. But in these days i haven't heard good conscious rap being released in a decade. Its like black rappers don't have the pulse on our social problems these days. They are being lured n to the narrative of the social justice warriors and still singing about the old "muh racism" and all that. There are no acts that sees past that. I am not claiming that racism don't exists anymore or that its something that affects people's lives. But lately we know that there is a lot more to black people failing than racism.

Having studied some philosophy and psychology on the internet for many years and being in my late 20's i can't relate to a lot of rappers anymore and i think they are a really lost and not updated on today problems.

Rappers need to be watching Jordan B Peterson, no joke.

That is just how i feel.

All you need is Aesop Rock

Aesop is the GOAT, but I don't think he every made a political song except maybe "pigs".

I agree with you that mainstream hip hop has shifted its mentality a lot from the 90's/ early 00's. There are still people like brother ali, killer mike, common and others that I still really like for their political messages. Largely speaking I agree though. Jordan Peterson seems really interesting, thanks man

"OMG GUYZZZ check out this new "redpilled" RAP! le based black amirite guys? XD

Fuck off nu/pol/

Nigger music is trash and it belongs in the jungle where it began.

You faggots who like this shit should be gassed.

yea but i think he goes beyond politics so he could rap about a toasted cheese sandwich but what hes actually saying is breaking down quantum mechanics, doing a comparative analyst between communism and capitalism while explaining how to hit the g spot.

Who put the monkey wrench in well oiled prefectionist emblem
Just to watch these moniters spit white noise
through your office space auto made
I infect knowledge gene pool dissented cloud clusters
Brushing dust mites off your starborn all revolution sound jugglers
Delinquent fan for brick habitat bob, weave, stick, move fence
and put somewhere in the middle for slick invention

Although above is a white dude

Fuck yourself. I've been shitposting here before this board was called /new/ and I will be here long after you choked on your last tendie or hot pocket.
Most of the musicians discussed ITT aren't even black, you mouthbreathing stormfaggot. If anyone is keeping the white race down, it's dogmatic autists such as yourself, simply because you make us like shit by association. Seriously, kill yourself.

I don't think you'll succeed in redpilling a NEET Nazi LARPer on the value of labor, user.

Because it's fucking boring. You think this is redpill? The idea of the conscious negro is even more ridiculous than the idea of watered down drug rap.

Internet thugging and self incrimination is the ultimate form of hip hop. People just want to see niggers acting a fool. Even niggers prefer to see rappers going full retard.

A Chief Keef or a Sauce Walka will always be more interesting than whatever J Cole will ever have to say. Rap is entertainment, it's roots in the Civil Rights Movement were abandoned long ago (otherwise the genre would've died). If you want socially conscious content why would you gravitate towards entertainers?

Even Drake is more of a redpill. Shit, he might be the final redpill.

You like hip hop? Eat some xanax and drink some lean like everybody else.

more for us

>hip hop changed
>now it's this
>therefor it will be like this forever
This is how stupid you sound. Maybe you should lay off the lean.

Indeed. What do you think about Sapient? Dude's from NZ I think
youtube.com/watch?v=I4jrlh6Ytww

Sorry achmed (nee Hans) your love of nigger/wigger music is sad. Your lineage should have been gassed in ww2

If you're looking for conscious rap. Look no further than Immortal Technique.

talib kwali sucks
mos def is alright

Doesn't make sense.

Of course you response will be:

"You don't get it man.. it's all in the message maaaaaaan "*blunt toke*

show me music you like

haven't heard him just listened sounds dope.

It hit its zenith with eric b & rakim. some of the only rap that was really worth listening to imho

>hip hop changed
yes
>now it's this
check
>therefor it will be like this forever
not necessarily

im just saying if you were in the industry like I am you would understand it's about what's going to generate more money revenue and you would latch on to the movement aswell

e-cooning is more woke than music for black people who aspire to wear bowties

too bad german lean tastes like socialism

i quit weed about 5 years ago now.
but my green tea addiction is fucked.

...

mmmm we could listen to
St Matthew Passion
while we 69

Triggered. That's sacral music, you disgusting nigger

>if you wanted to cash in on the destruction of your culture you'd do what I do
Gee I wonder who's behind this post...
Wow I'm sure you get all the OCD-ridden homeschool bitches. But seriously, hip hop is way more lyrical and political than classical music ever was, mainly because it's a less elitist culture from the start.
Cool. Check out Debaser/Sandpeople.

If you're black, good on you (I guess?) for not listening to OOGA BOOGA NOOGA MUH BIX NOOD MUHFUGGA-tier music, but this just isn't for white people and if you are white and listen to hip-hop, you are in denial or just a confused man.

For the leafs in this thread,

some dank ass quebec rap LMAO

youtube.com/watch?v=cOrz7Wj27kI

>St Matthew Passion
its funky sex tunes, kinda music you can inject some meth to and rob a liquor store

I embrace self destruction as much as the destruction of the jews

/thread

>implying the faggots in the vatican don't suck each other off to sacral music all the time
For a christcuck you sure know little about their traditions.
>Stop liking what I don't like
>you are in denial or just a confused man
the projection in your post is palpable.

Well guess who will be destroyed first you industry muppet

RREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

fuck off you fuckin nerd there's literally nothing worthwhile about le conscious rap meme except for sometimes they have some creative production. the writing is always asinine undergrad sociology shit alongside superfluous words they found in a thesaurus or rhyming dictionary and the people who go around smugly quoting it and saying "this is REAL HIP HOP!!!" are the most cancerous people on the planet. go back to listening to hopsin or canibus you faggot.

and it will be glorious and i will be very glad to have been a part of it. after that, onto the next thing. why would i sink with it? im get money one way or another and no i don't mean "selling bricks"

I like it

youtube.com/watch?v=jj4ROE4sbxM

You seem butthurt. Don't forget to offer the other cheek, or you'll get fucked even worse in the afterlife, kevin :^)

youtube.com/watch?v=DbGk8xCxxoE

And he's a muslim:/

jay electronica is overrated as fuck as a rapper but he did homewreck the rothschilds so he deserves commendation for that at least

I'll bear that cross, while you can listen to your tribal jungle beats IN HEEEELLL

>He doesn't know that the only Sup Forums approved rap group is DEATH GRIPS

Get /out/

HAHAHA! I had to google that. From Erykha Badu to a Rothchild. What a life he has lived

Actually kind of glad you brought this album up.

DAMN. (Releases April 14, 2017) Actually has its share of introspective tracks. While there are a fair share of throw-away songs FEAR. is a well structured song where he details his greatest fears at each stage of his life aged 7, 17 and 27 (His mother, dying young and not being able to live up to expectations).

XXX is a look at his own hypocrisy as he speaks out against gun violence but acknowledges that if a dindu were to murder his only son, he would be forced into seeking retribution.

Duckworth is a story of how "coincidence" allowed his father to survive the hood and provide just enough of a male role-model figure that Kendrick avoids the thug-life that would have likely gotten him killed.

Even for a nigger, you have to give him credit as these are issues that could affect a wide range of peoples/background.

Stupid bong, it's still just nigs nogging.

It sucks most of the time. Rap, and lyrics in general are not about what you're saying, it's about how your voice compliments the music.

The voice is just another instrument in the song as a whole. I don't want to hear some pseudo profound shit when it doesn't even sound good

I still don't get the israelite references on the album

Checked, and why would people want to hire you goyim after you played a part in the destruction of ((Their)) industry while making profit off it?
Actually, I like my beats to sound robotic and with asian semitones, produced by mad russians. Doesn't sound like the jungle to me.
youtube.com/watch?v=CVB-QXEgNCs

Checked, and was I the only one who thought "DNA" sounded like a moonman cover? There is no way an asian or white rapper would get away with this.

Also the overall structure of the album does illustrate a bit more foresight that you would give your average nigger credit for as most songs are ordered in pairs.

ie. FEAR. and GOD.
PRIDE. and HUMBLE.
LOVE. and LUST.
BLOOD. (intro skit) and DNA.

As a rational person I have to give that more praise than someone who names their tracks
> THICCCC
>Pass me dem skittles
> Ratchet hoez on muhdick

And much more than stupid nu-country shite
>My Chevy's got a bench seat
> Driving down the back dirt roads
> BBQ stain on my white t-shirt

Dead Nigger Association? Eh, nope....

kendrick is the only justifiable conscious rapper imo. but mostly because the production on TPAB was lit af

with ((them)) there is only a conflict of interest when there is money involved. the hip hop industry is going to burn anyway. and if i wanted to be hired by fucking jews, which i dont, the fact that i've capitalized would go in my favor

Wasn't hip hop music actually socially conscious almost from the beginning?

Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five - The Message
youtube.com/watch?v=PobrSpMwKk4

Subconsious emulation of (((those))) who really hold the leash?

There's probably a specific term for that, but I'm not finished my coffee yet and all I'm coming up with is Stockholm Syndrome but I know that's not the phrase I'm looking for

Shiiet I guess the chronic got me paranoid, baby!
Don't shit on country you pretentious fuck, what is it with you pseudo-intellectuals hating every genre of music associated with blue-collar workers?

Too many best rappers, not enough best rhymes tho
Guess I'm delusional, used to doing it all the time so
Maybe I'm just jaded, out of touch and unrelated
Unable to connect greatness based on the person who makes it
Or maybe I just hate it
And that would make me hater
Maybe it is great but that don't mean it's greater
Having your profile raised doesn't make you a raiser
Being ambiguous with assertions, isn't making you safer
What you mean tho?
Line us up, paddling us on the back
Like we steamboat you, president of the frat
You goin' sling toast, like you Ringo
And you think Doc Holliday's
Just goin' tolerate and too sick to let that thing go
It's just a matter of returns
Ashes to ashes, scattered them from the urns
To start a fire shaky to gather them from the burned
And reassemble these ashes, the blackness is something firm
Then moving blackness backwards in the bread of some other shit
Any deep we spreadin' wheat seeds from a bucket shit
McDonald had a farm and he lovin' it
Rolls Royce of the scented voice against the arms of the government
Artist gettin' robbed for their publishing
>By dirty Jewish execs that think his alms from the covenant
I'll retire when I'm tired, that's a Firestone death
Easy to say when nobody's there, like a microphone check
They wanna hear what I'm gon' say before the microphone check
Make me sign an NDA before the microphone test
Let you face that type of faith, institutional opposition
Then with all due respect, you are not my competition
Nah

hahaha Im a brown kid who grew up in relative poverty in an urban area. I love me some OOGA BOOGA shit, just when the feeling is right

Yes, it was. But some people act like every rap song is Candy Shop by Fiddy because it fits their narrative of black americans being an inherently violent, backwards race.
