Transhumanism Project Begins Today

End all human suffering, hatred, and poverty. All you have to do is upload yourself to the world's consciousness network. Are you in user?

no.

Maybe. Can I at least opt for hardware upgrades first?

And risk living forever? Fuck that shit.

What a laughable prospect. Transhumanism? You mean assured self destruction, were no where near prepared for the next stage of evolution and no amount of respurces or technological advances will supplement good ol' bloodshed and strife. Hard times make hard men and evolution is a battle of supremacy and nothing can change that.

>implying the hive mentality isn't a virus that would overrun such a project

drunk nuff, fuk it les go

>Can never have sex with another human being
>Can never eat a hot meal ever again

>the only two things I live for gone

Emphasizing the sci fi ramifications of a transhumanist philosophy is counterproductive and makes us look like nerds too autistic to even be libertarians.

The only successful transhumanist politics lies in emphasizing its tangible benefits to people in their daily lives. Transhumanism is merely a generalized form of humanism.

Talk about advanced medical technology. Talk about robotic prosthetics for injured American soldiers. Talk about new treatments to help disabled Americans live better lives and pursue their dreams.

Don't talk about sci fi. At least not yet.

What a non issue

The Age of low I.Q. inbreeding (a.k.a., "Dumbfism") is drawing to a belated close...

No. There are so many problems with this idea I cannot even pick which one to start with.

...

If a young child falls on the train tracks, it is good to save them, and if a 45-year-old suffers from a debilitating disease, it is good to cure them. If you have a logical turn of mind, you are bound to ask whether this is a special case of a general ethical principle which says “Life is good, death is bad; health is good, sickness is bad.” If so – and here we enter into controversial territory – we can follow this general principle to a surprising new conclusion: If a 95-year-old is threatened by death from old age, it would be good to drag them from those train tracks, if possible. And if a 120-year-old is starting to feel slightly sickly, it would be good to restore them to full vigor, if possible. With current technology it is not possible. But if the technology became available in some future year – given sufficiently advanced medical nanotechnology, or such other contrivances as future minds may devise – would you judge it a good thing, to save that life, and stay that debility?

The important thing to remember, which I think all too many people forget, is that it is not a trick question.

Transhumanism is simple because it has no special cases. If you believe professional bioethicists (people who get paid to explain ethical judgments) then the rule “Life is good, death is bad; health is good, sickness is bad” holds only until some critical age, and then flips polarity. Why should it flip? Why not just keep on with life-is-good? It would seem that it is good to save a six-year-old girl, but bad to extend the life and health of a 150-year-old. Then at what exact age does the term in the utility function go from positive to negative? Why?

As far as a transhumanist is concerned, if you see someone in danger of dying, you should save them; if you can improve someone’s health, you should. There, you’re done. No special cases. You don’t have to ask anyone’s age.

Only the weak would do this. And when they do, the server holding them will be turned off.

>waiting for a death that will never come
Sure sounds like a non issue to me ! All the time in the world to play video games and jerk off!

To destroy suffering, you must destroy life.

You are demanding that we give up life itself.

please this is just faggotry to decrease the wealthy population because those snobs fuck around and start shit constantly which create headaches for governments globally.

bill gates bribed federal agents to illegally deport american citizens who were chinese in the 90s. the U.S government had to pay them for having done it to them

some nazi faggots went around starting shit in greece and south america trying to run off the indigenous people. they got sent packing the ones who stayed in south america regret it but these things wont be tollerated. you can have your little clubs but if you cause any trouble in any country you will be dealt with like the nazis in russia. you end up dead in a fucking mining hole if you so much as pretend you want trouble

but im getting off topic the myth of a mars colony in your life time and transhumanism and immortality are the path of least resistance. in 40 years all "old money" will be wiped from the fucking earth

riiiight. just keep adding computing power and eventually youll get an individual with agency, needs and quirks. Or maybe youll just get a lot of computing power which is almost as good because most of the people who hype this silly shit dont know how to talk to people in real life anyway.

Are you kidding? Replace your body with a robot armature and become the surpreme fetishlord.

I'd choose to be uploaded but only if it was a cut and paste and not a copy.

yeah, replace all your fingers with dicks, who wouldn't want that?

>Become grand yiffer
>Spread gay Nazi yiff throughout the universe
>Redpill every race imaginable

Of course.

The financial elite will use as way to control the rest of human population.

The premise is good, but the people holding power can't be trusted under any circumstance to do the right thing for humanity.

You can only copy yourself, dummy.

>all people are the same and of equal quality

hey look, it's egalitarianism pretending to be something trendy

Let's make sure /d/ never finds out about transhumanism. It's for the best.

imagine if in 10000 years, all of humanity (which by then will be 10 billion immortal digital minds which don't require sustenance) will upload themselves into one massive organic supercomputer which constantly evolves and feeds off stars. Each individual would be to this giant body what a cell is to the human body (but on a larger scale obviously, because that would require more than 1 billion people)

This super-being would be constructed from a billion metric ton of an extremely durable extraterrestrial material, it would survive the heat death of the known universe and be called GOD

Being a species is complicated and primitive, believing in a god that doesn't exist is stupid, so why not be God?

people who really believe mumbo jumbo about uploading your "consciousness" to a machine are as uneducated about science as religious people who believe in a soul. Your consciousness comes from your brain, your neurons and nervous system. If you want your consciousness to last forever, then you need to have those parts of your body transplanted to another "machine" biological or otherwise to keep them alive otherwise all that you're doing is cloning yourself.

What use would a machine have for a hot tub? A machine would have totally different existential needs like electricity, your biological body requires entirely different conditions to exist and is built to seek out those favorable conditions. You don't even need to jerk off if you are a machine, it's pointless, a quantum computing machine has no need to dream of vagina and anal sex.

Fuck off cryto-globalist scum. Rather die before AI.

>upload yourself to the world's consciousness network

>INTAWEBS.

THAT. WHo would want to go against established system, if there is an eternity to loose? It's a major aspect of total control. The immortality/nearly endless life is that type of candy, that noone would pass for the sake of protest.

Ah the siren song of transcending what we are, to exceed the limits set forth for us....

Is this not what got us into trouble the first time?

I wager that in secret much has been done that cannot be undone......

But be not deceived, these things will change the order of things....

There is a time coming, when things terrifying to see will come to pass.

I look for a return of the nephalim & gibborim. Probably chimeras too....monsters of old come back to life.

Y'all will know time is short when you see these things....they won't be around for long though....ugh, the days are indeed evil

Living forever is only an issue if eternal existence is pain. I see nothing wrong with it if it is actually a good existence.

I hate transhumanism.

No. I want to keep my soul and hopefully get to heaven.

>The financial elite will use as way to control the rest of human population.
Control them to do what? In order to obtain wealth? In this future transhumanist world, everything would presumably be automated, and the elite could just create virtual worlds in which they are dictator.

>implying this is a bad thing

How would it survive the heat death of the Universe user?

Don't you know that entropy mvst increase?

>giving up your one chance to live in a heaven we created that will actually work
>instead trying to get into a fictional heaven dreamed up by bronze age tribesman
Wew lad

I want to be a Chappie.

humanity takes a dump on the laws of physics, that's how

The point of transhumanism, you fucking child, is that through technology we can transcend the limitations of biology.
The metrics by which you judge "quality" fall utterly short, all people alive today are grossly inferior in comparison to a future post-human, augmented biologically and cybernetically.

Watches Serial Experiments: Lain once

Litterally Satan

>otherwise all that you're doing is cloning yourself.
You are cloning yourself right now. Your cells replicate and die, and replace themselves, it is only because you cannot perceive the minute changes within yourself that you think you are still the same person from day to day.

>evolution is a battle of supremacy
And genetically enhanced transhuman superhumans will prove superior in warfare compared to natural humans. It will be on par with the invention of gunpowder or nuclear weapons.

With every new thought your consciousness becomes different.
You have more in common with someone your own age than with yourself when you were 4.

>Each individual would be to this giant body what a cell is to the human body

The internet is in essence a very primitive model of this, an artificial brain where each individual person is a neuron or cluster of neurons (depending on how you want to look at it).

Yes, absolutely. Artificial neural networks of the future will be what we think of as cyborgs, biological machines. Advances in materials science will eventually allow us to quite literally merge with machines and become a single organism.

sure

Transhumanism is a terrible idea.

We are a replicator selection species. Our purpose is not merely to fulfill some subjective level of happiness or even meaning in our lives. We have steadily evolved over the ages because we kept improving in order to keep surviving. Transhumanism is where we stop improving in order to keep living.

With Transhumanism, we will be the architects of our destiny, not natural selection or other evolutionary forces. This sounds nice until you realize that we are not even remotely qualified to do this. We aren't even qualified to organize basic societies. The human race is insanely inept and inefficient within the spectrum of our daily lives and conscious intellectualism. We are shit as individuals, we are pretty shitty as small groups, and we are immensely shitty as large groups. But as a species, we are incredible. Transhumanism will be swapping the collective, natural intelligence of our species in favor of the shitty intelligence of a few individuals with god complexes.

Humans were made great by the constant struggle of living and dying. Breaking that will make us shit. Our future will be chosen by "scientists" (bureaucrats) and "intellectuals". We'll be slaves to whatever ideology owns those people. And given the current state of Leftism, and it's grip on academia, it's going to really suck.

Man is not God, user. Nothing we can conjure up will ever equate.

>If you want your consciousness to last forever, then you need to have those parts of your body transplanted to another "machine" biological or otherwise to keep them alive
This is actually possible. Google the Moravec Transfer.

you guys go do that Ill stick around and reformat it.

never forget transhumanists are incomplete humans and by extension they are lesser creatures if you need robots to assist you in manipulating the world I consider you a broken imperfect creature.

Go ahead turn yourself into a pretender god itll be fun to hear you lament.

>california has the lowest iq in the us
>europe importing low iq shitskins from africa in an attempt to counteract population decline
other way around m8, we've been in decline for decades, and those in power decided to wager it all on their own idealistic delusions

>Transhumanism is where we stop improving in order to keep living.
How? If anything it will accelerate improvement through genetic enhancement.

>With Transhumanism, we will be the architects of our destiny, not natural selection or other evolutionary forces.
We will be the architects of our destiny, but this still will not mean that natural selection is somehow nonexistent. Think of it this way. Humans will choose to augment themselves in a wide variety of ways. Some will choose to make themselves more powerful militarily, some will join virtual worlds, some will focus on space colonization, etc. This will create a large number of different human "species", if you will. By the same token, humans in today's world have a similar variety of strategies, for example, Africans are more r-selected and Eurasians are more K-selected. Why would this not also hold for post-transhumanism humanity? Peoples who choose the best strategies for propagating themselves will continue to survive, and smash the peoples with weak strategies.

And your evidence for this is?

Possibly by finding a way to travel to other universes, or create a new universe

It's so tempting but my answer is no.

Nah.
Its why I brought up Fermi's Paradox in the last bread.

Rather than risk their virtual lives the ayylmaos choose to stay completely silent.
After all, why put themselves in actual risk when virtual worlds provide the same stimulus?

>Concentrating Weaponized Autism

You stupid idiot, it's not on DOS, it's running on BeOS

...

A world without suffering is also a world without pleasure. Nuff said

hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahah

I don't give a shit what OS you are using.

restart the PC and press the 'delete', 'F2' or 'F8' key. In the BIOS menu, go to the advance BIOS feature then make the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM boot first and the second boot is the hard drive.

...

It will provide even more crutches to allow us to be weak and complacent, as we are now. We've already removed most of natural selection with current technology. More crutches will make us weaker, leading to needing more crutches, which will make the crutch makers the owners of everyone.

Why learn to work out and improve yourself when you can just get muscle augmentation? Why learn to solve a difficult intellectual problem when you can just get computer enhancement? Why figure out how to sort yourself out emotionally when you can get drugs, or have some hardware/software that regulates your emotions?

If we were a cutting edge group facing great threats, I don't think augmentation or upgrades would destroy us. But we're not.

I have met and hung out with pic related and was in that scene for ages. These people will not handle this tech well. They may manage to develop it, but once they do, they'll basically use it to make the world even worse. It's going to end up with some Full Luxury Gay Space Communism or something.

Can not argue that

Correct. And that's not just human nature, it's the nature of things. But when you rewrite the rules and start from scratch, anything's possible.

Interesting

>killing yourself for the sake of a copy of your neurological pathways to exist in some database
Really?

This is the solution to the birth rate problem. Right here reverse aging we are this close to it.

Best case, you create a copy of your mental state somewhere else. Which is cool and all, but the you that was duplicated will still die.

And so you think they should risk their lives and end up potentially destroying their civilizations instead?

>Why learn to work out and improve yourself when you can just get muscle augmentation? Why learn to solve a difficult intellectual problem when you can just get computer enhancement? Why figure out how to sort yourself out emotionally when you can get drugs, or have some hardware/software that regulates your emotions?
And how is any of this a bad thing?

>These people will not handle this tech well
Then what do you consider to be a "good" way to handle this technology?

>More crutches will make us weaker, leading to needing more crutches, which will make the crutch makers the owners of everyone.
You seem to contradict this with your second statement. How is someone who works out and learns any "stronger" than someone who achieves these things through transhumanism?

ding ding ding we have a winner

So basically the Aztecs were right

Suffering is just a chemical reaction in the brain you leaf. With the right technology, we could probably eliminate these chemical reactions while preserving life.

Cold hard fact bro the planet is doomed. That big heat tab in the sky few billion years most of the hydrogen is gone then it is helium. We must get off the rock our current set up is not designed to survive, 2 choices adapt or die.

It does not matter how much you work out gamma rays win, DNA is damaged replicates congrats cancer.

>And how is any of this a bad thing?

It allows the weak to survive based on someone else's merits. And with how things are currently done politically, it'll end up being competent people getting taxed to pay for augmentations for idiots because it's their human right or some shit.

>These people will not handle this tech well
I don't have a clue. Would you trust our current bureaucracy to handle it?

Because getting strength the natural way requires mental fortitude, and has a huge number of smaller side benefits.

Fuck you

I agree. If we're using tech to push new boundaries, it will be good. If we're giving up on struggle and dragging down our competent people in order to subsidize the dregs, then we lose. It's the same situation we're in now. More technology just raises the stakes.

What if you get stored next to Chris Chan in a database? Would you be okay with spending an eternity listening to his shit?

Fuck no.
