The civil war was about civil religion you dumb cuck.
Revisionist faggot kys
muh brian hurts
Civil War was fought over State's right for people to own people; then for the State's to execute their right to secede when the federal gov't said the states weren't allowed to own people anymore.
What we're left with was a federal gov't that has a monopoly on owning people. If you don't believe that, then stop paying your taxes. This is what Andrew Jackson tried to prevent. His vision of the Union was from the perspective of someone that lived in the south and owned slaves.
Not sure how this is wizardry or difficult to understand.
>OP thinks the Civil War was actually about slavery because his transgendered teacher told him that it was, and he chose to believe it rather than actually find out why
Oh, for fuck's sake...
I thought they decided to demand the abolishment of slavery during the war, not before it started.
>The War of Northern Aggression
>About slavery
Abolitionism was a growing movement, but it wasn't big enough to get the numbers to change the constitution, which said slavery was legal.
So they appointed activist judges to ignore the constitution and abolish rights bypassing congress.
The south said fuck that and left the union. North says you can't leave me, domestic violence ensues.
Abolitionism was growing and slavery probably would've been abolished by constitutional means with a few decades, but activists then as now only care about democracy/constitution when it suits them. So war happened.
Not really accurate. Was about states rights sure, but not about slavery. Slavery was added as a moral reason by Lincoln.
Take a look at any of the secession documents from any of the confederate states and you will find slavery is the first and sometimes only reason written, plainly, by the Southerners themselves.
Read any non-cucked history book and it will tell you that the civil war had a multitude of factors. One of the largest being growing tensions between the north and the south from large industrialization in the north while the south was stuck to poorer agrarian life.
Wierd that they called themselves the confederates. Confederacy has nothing to do with slavery so you could say that this war was about independence
christ, i was about to fucking off myself after the shit i read today
>Abolitionism was a growing movement, but it wasn't big enough to get the numbers to change the constitution, which said slavery was legal.
>So they appointed activist judges
i can google another day but would really appreciate the sauce on this stuff now if you got it
The civil war was always about the business interest of northern states since they were behind the souths effective slave force. They didn't want slaves so the business market could be the same. Bunch of jew shit
Slavery was but one of the many factors.
It's like saying WWI was about the Austria-Serbia conflict.
Foof Doomph
Here's the problem with that.
Be clear that I'm not making a value judgement here one way or the other, but Alexander Stephens, vice president of the CSA gave a speech which enumerated the reasons for secession and the values upon which the CSA was based.
>The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institutions—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson, in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the "rock upon which the old Union would split." He was right. What was conjecture with him, is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands, may be doubted. The prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old Constitution were, that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with; but the general opinion of the men of that day was, that, somehow or other, in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away... Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the idea of a Government built upon it—when the "storm came and the wind blew, it fell."
>Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.
See the first one explains that the most immediate cause of secession was the disagreement over slavery.
The second excerpt explains that the most important and defining feature of their new government is that it is based on the truth that Negroes are inferior.
