This is only partially true: Jewish intellectualism is cultural, not genetic. There is no magic Jewish IQ spike, their curve is comparable to other caucasians/semites depending on whiich sort of jew you're talking about.
What they had was about three centuries of being forbidden from owning land in Europe. Back then, no land ownershiip was a huge deal, it meant they couldn't establish real wealth with their usury, let alone family wealth.
Instead they put stock in academia and nepotism without borders, so to speak. Jews learned to value knowledge and helping other jews in places where jews congregated.
In the modern world this translates into corporate nepotism with huge strings attached within their communities. If you are a bright jew, you are pushed into over-performing for the good of your family businesses. They don't get a whole lot of choice in the matter.

Yes, Jews are the most intelligent group on average, nobody with a brain denies this. This, alone, is not enough to explain their success.
