Why don't you Americans just let the free market lower the costs of healthcare?

Why don't you Americans just let the free market lower the costs of healthcare?

>Company A sells a pill that cures your disease for $5000
>Company B sells a pill that cures the same disease for $1000
>Company B thrives more since more people buy from them

Fuck off back to a Pride parade, leaf. You're ignorant smug shitposting isn't welcome here. You are a shitstain on Sup Forums's underwear. You pontificate on subject's that you know nothing about. You get economically raped by you government and then brag about how great it is to be a leaf. Fuck off.

t: former leaf, now deprogrammed.

There are those of us who want that, but too many idiots think we need government protection from corporations. The likelihood of the government getting out of healthcare is almost non existent

The pharmaceutical industry is nortoriusly Jewy and the FDA basically approves big pharma companies' new headache meds without batting an eye, while ignoring beneficial medicines made by smaller guys.

> (((they))) work together to get a monopoly on medicine and keep the price artificially high

it's called generics. kick in after 5-10 years don't they. i think.

Option 1: Company A buys Company B. Buy but let it function as an independent brand. Give customers the illusion of choice. make $6000 profit. This is what a lot of tech companies do.

Option 2: Company A and B make a deal that they will stay out of eachothers territory. Company B drives up the price for the same $1000 shit to $5000. Both profit. This is what ISPs in US do.

What's to stop say company a and b who are the only ones that can make pill from price colluding and both of them raising the price? With total free market oh we will just let that happen since can't have anyone try to stop shit like that right?

well
1. it's basically impossible to "shop around" when you need something like an X-ray and if you do find someone with a lower price they may not be "in network" so you can't use them anyway.

2. If you're having a stroke/heart attack/ whatever emergency you may not be able to direct those taking you to the hospital where to go or you may only have one option

3. Smaller and more distributed insurance companies have less leverage when dealing with the the drug makers. The UK can say if you want access to this country of 65 million people you need to lower your drug prices or we'll go with someone else/not offer it.

Company C comes along with a lower price

Why don't you go fuck yourself?

Company C can't come in because only company a and b have the rights to do it. Kind of like what pointed out or they get bought.

Speak for yourself and your balls to the wall retarded system, leaf

Because the free market affects buyer's choices a little bit differently when their fucking life is on the line.

You're not picking cereals, your choosing drugs and treatments that you need in order to not die.

Patent and copyright monopolies are not comparable with a free market society
The government is the only thing enforcing these laws which prevents others from branching out with better deals

Exactly. We have the same bullshit here. A ISP called PTCL keeps buying out it's competition. They are the only (via land line) ISP in pakiland. An 8MB connection is $80/month with super shitty customer service.

company A sues company B into the fucking ground for dodging company A's patent and stealing intellectual property.

A continues to sell at $5000

Because patents.
Patents should last a lot less.

>One Company gets extremely rich and buys off all others

Its incredible to me how autistic libertarians are they fail to see how the game is played outside free market theory

I want you libertarians to take the following notion to heart absolutely

The Free Market is the LEAST profitable environment for companies. Therefore, they always have an incentive to bypas and demolish it.

for patents to be valuable people need to be willing to buy the medicine.

If there was only one insurer in the US (Medicaid for all) they'd have leverage to tell them that they can either lower the price or lose access to 320 million people
