I grew up in Northern Ireland during the 70s and 80s. I saw first hand countless acts of violence and atrocities inflicted on not only my community but to others as well. But in April 1989 on that fateful day in Sheffield, the disaster that took place which 96 innocent souls lost their lives in the most horrific of ways sent a shiver through the spine of the 15 year old boy that i was that day. Hillsborough i can say without any doubt was the one thing that disturbed me most when i was growing up. And i witnessed mass murder on a weekly scale in my country at that very time. As a hardened West Ham fan, i shed a tear of happiness today for the people of Liverpool and I pray to the good lord above that they can now find closure and peace and move on with their lives, knowing that their lost loved ones are finally smiling down on them for a fight well fought on their behalf.
