If say a good 10-20% of the population of the conservative right has some kind of experience with the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, boy scouts, or the military. I would say less than 5% of the left has the same experience. I also believe that the right has more legitimate altruists and more people willing to learn, meaning that the right will be able to swell those numbers quickly and effectively.

Primitive survival guy is in australia (?) with some kind of jungle like environment. Lots of growth, rain, vines. Obviously winter is less of a problem. More wildlife to eat.
Up north here, if it's not the right season, just getting material to make twine would be fucking hard. In spring it's alright, but frozen months you're fucked. We've got easy access to drinkable water, so one up on any desert biomes. Building material is rough too, as far as clay goes. You're gonna do a lot of wood chopping, with a stone tool to boot.

Assuming Europe i find a river where i can fish.
Gather wood for a fire.
Gather some clay to make pots for food storage.
Start doing a toxicity test on plants so i learn what is good to eat and what not.
Find some wild fruit and plant it since this shit is long term as you said.
Make traps to hunt some wild boar and smoke meat for winter.
Use stone and cheramic tools till i'm able to find mineral deposits.
Use plant fibers to make new clothes, fishing nets, blankets etc.

You could progress to metallurgy pretty early on given you make a bloomery furnace and find a source of iron. Just need a large wooden hammer to forge the bloom iron into an ingot and it's good to heat up and shape as you wish.

I think the argument can be made that conservatives and liberals are intrinsically more likely to have good survival skills when it comes to survival based around things like the Boy Scouts or personal interest. I'm not quite sure about whether or not their political views have anything to do with being able to make a fire, tie knots, or set traps. Those are just skills they learn if they have a vested interest.
