He was offered an inside track for his role in the daily show. He knows global governance is coming by diplomacy or by war. The propaganda campaign in America was not enough to get us to give up our national sovereignty, or our guns. He knows what's coming, that's why he lives on a farm, that's why he's lost so much weight, that's why he's cracking up around the edges.
He knew he became a hack riding the same gimmick every night. Probably a few too many dems trying to dictate to him what to say as well yet built an audience that he couldn't reveal that to and have fun with.
One of the key aspects about Stewart many people who hate or even love him miss is that he truly loves America. For all the times he pointed out it's failings, he always spoke with a sense of optimism and hope that we can do better. That was the biggest problem he had with Crossfire and Tucker Carlson. They pretended to do actual discussion when all it really did was exacerbate the polarization in our country to the point we were lost even a common dialogue between the left and right.
I think it's starting to finally sink into Stewart's mind that America is actually shit. It's people are shit. It's policies are shit. It's politicians are shit. We're shit because we choose to be, and this is what we deserve.
That has to be soul-crushing.
