>Left still eurosceptic >Average house price was 3-4x average wage >Could afford a family on a single income >Degrees still meant something. Empire still taught in schools. >Lower unemployment than the 80s >Manufacturing not yet destroyed. A proud and dignified working class still exists >Key industries still state controlled. Not owned by FOREIGN state owned companies. >Benefits lifestyle does not exist >Mostly white. Immigration still low (in fact, population was declining) >Cancer of Neoliberalism (spearheaded in the 80s) not yet upon us. Asset stripping not yet a thing. >Best decade of music since
Tell me what's wrong with going back to the 70s again?

Reminder that universal suffrage was a mistake.
>'..those noble experiments failed because the people had been led to believe that they could simply vote for whatever they wanted… and get it, without toil, without sweat, without tears.'
It's not cool to lie about your ideals. Especially since you'll get slaughtered by your party comerades.

Remember to fulfill your duty next month lads.
>'To vote is to wield authority; it is the supreme authority from which all other authority derives—such as mine to make your lives miserable once a day. Force if you will!—the franchise is force, naked and raw, the Power of the Rods and the Ax. Whether it is exerted by ten men or by ten billion, political authority is force.'
John Ortiz

>>since the last time I applied OCD has gone from being classed as temporarily medically unfit condition to a permanently medically unfit condition They include so many things in this category now, including depression. Didn't seem like it stopped them scooping up millions of our young lads and sending them overseas to die, whenever the armed forces wanted to? I'd sooner face a firing squad than agree to fight for these ungrateful unpatriotic bureaucratic bitches.
Carson Sanders
It's a different kettle of fish to the modern British army though mate. Proper old fashioned discipline and hard work. Pay is average as well but your basically getting €20k with all your housing and food costs already catered for.
Namefags and incessant anime posters are a cancer that needs to be eradicated. >Not liking anime on an anime imageboard This is not an anime board. This is a politics discussion board. Posting screenshots of your waifu and spamming shit about teacakes is not political discussion.
If you vote Conservative, you're voting for draconian legislation that attacks our already corroded freedom of speech. The Tories want to make it illegal to link to hate speech sources on social media.
Andrew White
Yeah I looked into, sounds pretty good apart from the fact that you spend more time away from home, and I'm not sure if there are as many transferable skills into civilian life.

Someone explain to me how majorities work because I was under the impression it is 650/2 then whatever is added to 325 is your majority, 326 being a majority of 1, and so on.

The armed forces are a joke these days, just wait for a war and sign up. It's shit being in the military in the current year.

When eternal russian hacker will strike our elections? Whom do you think will he support?
It is but Sinn Fein MPs don't count because they don't take their seats then you have the Speaker who is actually a Conservative but counted as neutral in his role.

You've actually mentioned politics, so it's fine. Also I'm not saying there's anyone better to vote for, just that the Conservatives are another authoritarian nightmare like all the other parties. The only benefit of voting Tory is that your taxes will be lower while they import Muslims and arrest you for speaking out against it.
Isaiah Gray

I don't understand how they got the working majority as 12 when the Conservatives won 330 seats out of 650
Landon Rivera
>not understanding that it's the internet, video games and anime that keeps you a virgin
Everyone got laid back then, user. If you wanted to do anything - literally anything - you had to actually leave the house and interact with people, which built social cache and developed interpersonal skills.
If you want to learn something new right now, you can stay where you are and go on Wikipedia. You can even do it without leaving your bed. Back then, you had to get up, go out and travel to the library. You would have to talk to the woman on the desk, you might meet someone you know there and you would have to talk to them, you might meet someone on the bus. And so on. It all adds up after a while.

Both Labour and Tories need to split into two but I don't think we will see it without PR.

To add to this, it's a 'real' account, i.e. the kid exists, but she is a figurehead, often retweeted by Rowling and her ilk. It is clearly propaganda.
It's the same deal with Harry Leslie Smith, who has no input on his tweets (his son curates his account) and instead is just a figurehead for a movement.
Gavin White

it's likely to happen to labour within the year, but i don't see the tories splitting, although you could argue that it already happened with in the form of ukip.
Ethan Morgan
How can it be forced? It's the natural order of things. If anything, now is abnormal as it's completely possible - thanks to the internet - for someone to basically stay at home and never speak to another person for months at a time.
Hunter Carter
>Could a genuine right-wing party come out of this election lads? No. Normies don't want genuine right-wing, they want centre-right at most.
>Will the Tories go to the right? Probably not, they're quite comfortable being Blairites, and they'll get more than a few more years out of 'my mum voted Tory' tribalism.
>Will UKIP bounce back? Not until they get a new figurehead to stop the in-fighting and give them some clear direction.
>Are there any other parties worth paying attention to? Nah.

It's more interesting than American politics for sure, and more interesting countries than the UK don't have these generals. Also the fact that Brit/pol/ held fast when Sup Forums went bonkers has earned my respect. Sometimes there's a question asked that's not related to britain, so maybe I can answer that. Lastly; I always enter threads that start with anime images. I can't explain why, it happens on instinct.

the closest (i stress that) we've had in my lifetime was thatcher's government, and then early ukip.

Only if Corbyn stays on.
As reported by The Times, the plan is for the Blairites, who will presumably still form a majority of the PLP, will form their own political grouping within the Commons thus entitling them to the position Official Opposition with all that that entails (shadow cabinet, first right of reply to ministers, office of the leader of the opposition etc.) thus making the "continuity Labour Party" (Corbyn's group of Labour MPs) the third or fourth largest political grouping thus side-lining them hugely from the political spotlight.
Once/if Corbyn resigns as leader of continuity labour the blairite grouping will reunite with continuity Labour, perhaps rebrand, and then fight the 2022 general election under one Labour banner with the blairites back in full control
The big question here is if the blairites can hope to hold onto continuity labour. Leaving the PLP will be grounds for automatic dismissal from the Labour Party, so the blairites must simultaneously remain in control of continuity labour's NEC (to ensure another Corbynite isn't elected and to allow the blairites back in after Corbyn goes) whilst also controlling what is essentially a different political party. Further, if continuity labour only allows PLP members to run for leader, (as are the rules) then some blairites will need to remain within continuity labour in order to run for leadership again, otherwise you're consigning continuity labour to nothing but a slate of Corbynite candidates for eternity.
Although the handling of the issue in the Commons will be straight-forward, this will be tricky for the BBC/Ofcom to manage, considering that all of those MPs in the new "progressive" faction will have been elected with Corbyn as leader and with a Corbyn manifesto, so how they'll handle equal air-time is anyone's guess. Regardless, say hello to Leader of the Opposition Yvette Cooper.
Nathaniel Ward
If Britain were divided into states like the USA, what state would you like your county to be in? For example N, E, S and W Yorkshire should become the state of Yorkshire. It already has a common history, heraldry, identity.

I'd stay in the State of Wessex. White as fuck.
