I was really interested in the Greek gods and myths growing up but I'm not that familiar with most of the other ancient European pagan religions.

I tried following the Celtic path because I thought it was the most appropriate thing (being from Scotland). What I realized is that we know so little about Celtic paganism that you can't really reconstruct it properly. Like you say, it's a bit different for Germanic paganism, which is part of the reason why I now follow this path.

Honestly, as strange as it sounds, if you really feel much closer to the Celtic pantheon than the Germanic one, I would consider looking into Folk Catholicism. The Catholics have preserved alot of traditions from pre-Christian Western Europe. Granted, it's a hybrid of Romano-Celtic practices but when you study the Celtic myths and traditions that survive today, you realize that they have over time become almost inseparable from Catholicism.

If you really don't want any Christianity mixed in with your pagan pie, then you might actually feel more at home revering the Norse deities. Because Protestantism removed much of the surviving pagan traditions from our culture, we have lost that part of Christianity that was more integrated into our native religion, and so for us it makes more sense to dig up what we can find. It just so happens that we have a bit more to work with when it comes to 'authentic' pagan lore.
