The current idea is that Russia, among other foreign states, as well as a few wealthy businessmen, funded Trump's entire campaign in private, and then their money was spent on small-time campaign, polling, and lobbying organizations who then spent the money fundraising "real" funds for Trump.

Basically, the entire Trump campaign was a money laundering scheme in which illegal foreign funds were spent to accumulate legal domestic funds and in the process look like Trump had a lot more grassroots support than he actually did, as evidenced by him losing the popular vote by millions.

So the FBI, among others, started looking into the small businesses used to launder the funds. It's hard going because the paper trail is dispersed across thousands of small businesses that all require their own subpoenas and investigations. But it's still happening, even after Trump sacked Comey for investigating him. The FBI is even more pissed at him than they were before.

Expect more small campaign and fundraising offices to be raided in the comings weeks or months.
