"Our great rationalist ideologies, after all – fascist, say, or communist – demonstrated their essential uselessness within the space of mere generations, despite their intellectually compelling nature. Traditional societies, predicated on religious notions, have survived – essentially unchanged, in some cases, for tens of thousands of years. How can this longevity be understood?" (Map of Meaning, 19)
>fascists displayed their uselessness within the space of mere generations
Yeah, by being blown up. I mean, that's like saying a man is proven useless because you'd killed them and his ideology with him. In other words, this quote is stupid.
Hunter Sullivan
Has Peterson ever gone into why fascism was useless? Has he talked about what he thinks of the ideology, and not just sayin "I can understand how someone could become a nazi, and that's scary stuff bucko".
Parker Morales
>I'm a perpetually butthurt stormcuck
Tell me more
Oliver Jenkins
Not an argument.
my issue is this: People like him and sargon just follow the towing line of the era, and refuse to actually read into the ideology, or even the beliefs behind it. I'm not even a fascist, yet it triggers the fuck out of me when people just throw out whole ideas just because of essentially 'people said it was bad.'
Wyatt Turner
He has, he characterizes fascism under the "devouring king" archetype that stagnates progress and individuality for the sake of stability. His philosophy is one that attempts to lead the individual toward heroism so that they can balance order and chaos within themselves, and then around themselves.
Bentley Nelson
>heroism define heroism, then will you?
Is there EVER a time in which he has actually gone into detail on the ideology, rather than just saying 'oooh, spooky! muh racism bigotry banana tree!'
David Young
Heroism: When someone takes it upon themselves to find information rather than sperging out and demanding others act as their personal encyclopedia
Lincoln Cooper
Alright, at least he gave it some though. I agree that it does sacrifice individuality for the sake of stability (getting rid of degeneracy to prevent social decay). As far as stagnating progress goes, did he specify what type of progress? Point me to the lecture that he talks about this if you remember it
Liam Ross
So I guess you cant actually define the mystical bullshit this 'thinker of the time' is spouting, huh. Kind of sad and pathetic, if you ask me
Alexander Thomas
Well the closest he has come to that is tying it to the concept of Logos.
Owen Stewart
could you elaborate?
Easton Hall
JBP would probably say a hero is the archetypal individual who has climbed to the top of a dominance hierarchy through overcoming adversity.
Ayden Rivera
Peterson knows about the Jews. He's playing his role carefully.
Kevin Butler
Has anyone here heard of Bruce Charlton? He's like Jordan Peterson but he writes good online books about similar topics instead of making YouTube lectures.
Jayden Hughes
Sup Forums won't let me post direct links to the online books so I guess the Wikipedia article (which has links to those books) will have to do. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Charlton
Dylan Sullivan
The Logos as in an absolute truth, the existence of good and bad. It's a concept that comes from the ancient Greece philosophy and that has been resurected by the Church. Jesus is the Word (=Logos) turned flesh, it's in the first chapter of John. But I'm not sure how he thinks of the Logos exactly though, I just know that he believes in an absolute truth. He hates the postmodernists that the Universities are infested with.
Joseph Wood
The logos also functions to create order from chaos.
Wyatt Cook
JBP Defined the hero in his most recent podcast with Joe rogan. The hero is the monkey who climbs down from the tree to kill the snake - the one who will face great peril on behalf of his people, and for succeeding he will be rewarded with wealth and the attention of women
Carson Foster
They are smarter than to create an ideology of their own. They are just searching for the truth. An ideology is an imperfect view of the world that acts to justify people's behaviour.
Super long read but very interesting. I listened to all his lectures already =/

So what kind of "perfect society" does Peterson envision? After all if we let the current trend continue whites will be a minority. Europe will either be SJW central or an Islamic caliphate. Sometimes I kind of get an anarcho primitivist vibe from Peterson.
Asher Ortiz
>le too intelligent to come to a conclusion XDDDDD
If you are 'too smart to come to a conclusion,' then frankly you might as well already be operating off your own ideology to begin with. I genuinely believe that it would do him some good to take a reading of fascistic literature, then communist literature and other such material in order to understand their point of views, and learning from them.
Ignoring different ideals in favor of preserving your own is just another sad attempt to remain ignorant while simultaneously claiming to be 'oh so smart,' and a 'seeker for the truth.'
Benjamin Ortiz
Do you think 1B9BDBuv in this archive could be JPB?
I was doubtful at first, but then I read how he talks on twitter, and took into mind that this was from December. I think it could be him when he was in a very dark place.
Awesome read either way
Julian Powell
just look at how he suggests framing the diversity argument, quite a few other posts in that archive, too + a fucking leaf

yeah i think so i've watched a lot of his videos and the way he writes sounds a lot like the way he speaks

college professor with classes full of azn QTs - can you blame him?
Xavier Torres
there is no perfect society, there is only a progress towards a better society, because our challenges change. society needs to always adapt.
Jace Williams
I have come to the conclusion on easter when I returned to the church I was baptised in as a baby. I think Peterson believes this too, that Jesus is the Logos. But he is just a psychology professor, not a priest. Maybe he is afraid to push too much in that direction, because alot of people will turn on him.
Nolan Robinson
I bet he can't even describe the institutions of Fascism.
Luke Rivera
Not at all lad, not at all
Matthew Jenkins
isn't he supposed to address the senate today? why no livestream?
Matthew Moore
I think he has read alot of ideologue material though, but he explains it through Jungian archetypes and other psychological concepts, because he is a PSYCHOLOGY professor, not an ideologue. If you want ideology, Peterson is not the right person for you.
kek's blessings upon you burgerbro first link was pic related so either the traffic is insane or people "should not" see this

Asians suffer from having evolved in a society where people with high conscientiousness and agreeableness dominate and have low standard deviation in IQ. Hopefully he doesn't marry a conformist azn chick that raises children like a Tiger Mom hahaha. That'd totally destroy any chance of his descendants being geniuses like him.
Christian Campbell
Holy fuck he's slaughtering that woman
Gavin Collins
>People like him and sargon just follow the towing line of the era Nigger pls. I know you Americans are poised with your "greatest generation" narrative, but people in Europe generally understand why facism seemed like a good idea at the time, why it appealed to so many people and also why it ultimately crashed and burned. Many Germans were extremely disillusioned with the Nazis even before WW2 ended. Also thanks to the post WW2 trauma which induced moral relativism, consumerism and promiscuity as virtues, fascists ultimately caused more degeneracy than they prevented it, by making people associate nationalism and tradition with imperialistic expansion and genocide.
Leo Wilson
>anyone who isn't full 1488 is a jewcuckshillcuck You guys show up in every JBP thread and make complete fools of yourselves.
At the very least you should be behind him for trying to dismantle postmodernism philosophically.
Do you honestly believe that if Peterson, or anyone for that matter, started talking positively about the Nazis they'd receive anything but universal scorn?
Jackson Phillips
yeah stream keeps crapping out and needs refreshed
he's making great points, but I'm afraid it's just going over their heads
Matthew Nelson
You're right. Half of them are saying "I don't understand...aren't you just a bigot???"
Lucas Cook
Definitely Peterson.
Seems to be redpilled on race.

I thought he was against it because of human nature. A totalitarian society is always fucked up by the next cunt who replaces the benevolent dictator.

Are the lectures done for a while? Is the semester done or does the school he teaches at run through the summer?
Julian Campbell
He is too busy being a living human meme to be uploading new content. I wish he would stop pretending to be a conservative activist and just focus on his lectures.
Leo Nguyen
I don't think it is Peterson, but just a canuck that follows his lectures. Hard to imagine Peterson using language as: you are a fucking idiot.
Chase Diaz
give me the Jordan B Peterson red pill. Best videos...
What would Dr.Peterson say about my marijuana habbit?
I've dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life and only recently discovered weed which has helped me way more than SSRIs. I also found JBP and I've been sorting out my life but I wonder if my reliance on weed would be considered 'cheating' or I will pay for it somehow down the line

This dude doesn't even deal drugs professionaly, hard to respect anyone with a meme degree in underwater basket weaving who gives lectures only to broken women tring to 'fix how crazy they are' instead of doing university to get a job. Well that's how I understood psychology.

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Charlton I first read Thought Prison: the fundamental nature of political correctness. The books after it, especially Not even trying: the corruption of real science and The Genius Famine, go into more detail about how political correctness and its moral relativism have fucked various things up like the scientific establishment and the displacement of geniuses in the arts and sciences by pseudointellectuals and careerists.

Your life (any anyone's life for that matter, because of the axiom of the divine individual aka free will aka the soul) is a story and the meaning of art and religion is to tell you how to life a good life by the method of invoking Jungian archetypes. Your life is basically this: You are in a time and place you are not entirely okay with so you conceive a plan to work towards that future. If you do something that advances you towards that goal, you feel positive emotion, like getting an A+ or finding a partner. If something happens to you that moves you away from that goal you feel negative emotion and you're in chaos, in disarray, the underworld, the archetypal bell of the wale. (r9gay fags, NEETs and hikis are a good example for this btw). If these negative things keep happening your model of the world is completely wrong which gives you two choices. 1. You give up and become a monster, committing suicide, murder, drug abuse, becoming a prostitute, etc. 2. You reexamine your model of the world which starts with your self. You need to change, letting part of your self go and becoming a better person, working towards the best possible future for yourself, by being the best possible version of yourself. That's the constant concept of live and death, the phoenix who rises from the ashes and Jesus Christ who comes back from the dead. That's the meaning of live, roughly speaking. It's more complex than just that, but I'm running out of characters here.

Benjamin Kelly
I like JP but he's wrong about fascism.
Fascism is traditionalism + modernism. Pure traditionalism doesn't work, the kikes ruined it. We need a thorough dekikeification of society, and a right wing traditionalist authoritarian nationalist Duce/Fuhrer to clean up society and cleanse and wipe the stain of Jewish Bolshevism/Communism/Nazbol cuckery to save the white race and each of our unique European cultures
>HAIL VICTORY!

>Fascism >rationalist worldfuturefund.org/wffmaster/Reading/Germany/mussolini.htm >Thus many of the practical expressions of Fascism such as party organization, system of education, and discipline can only be understood when considered in relation to its general attitude toward life. A spiritual attitude (3). Fascism sees in the world not only those superficial, material aspects in which man appears as an individual, standing by himself, self-centered, subject to natural law, which instinctively urges him toward a life of selfish momentary pleasure; it sees not only the individual but the nation and the country; individuals and generations bound together by a moral law, with common traditions and a mission which suppressing the instinct for life closed in a brief circle of pleasure, builds up a higher life, founded on duty, a life free from the limitations of time and space, in which the individual, by self-sacrifice, the renunciation of self-interest, by death itself, can achieve that purely spiritual existence in which his value as a man consists.
>The conception is therefore a spiritual one, arising from the general reaction of the century against the materialistic positivism of the XIXth century. Anti-positivistic but positive; neither skeptical nor agnostic; neither pessimistic nor supinely optimistic as are, generally speaking, the doctrines (all negative) which place the center of life outside man; whereas, by the exercise of his free will, man can and must create his own world.
>The Fascist conception of life is a religious one (7), in which man is viewed in his immanent relation to a higher law, endowed with an objective will transcending the individual and raising him to conscious membership of a spiritual society. "Those who perceive nothing beyond opportunistic considerations in the religious policy of the Fascist regime fail to realize that Fascism is not only a system of government but also and above all a system of thought.

I wonder if Peterson is familiar with Evola? They both have the same appreciation for the lone heroic figure. Peterson has talked about traditionalists who weren't far away from Evola so it wouldn't surprise me if Peterson has at least glanced at his writings in the past.
William Watson
This.
It is The Jew who through rationalism reduces the human being to a mere commodity, an atheistic automaton, purely materialistic, all of life and humanity seen through the lens of economics, "the dismal science". A distinctly Jew perspective.
That is the moral plague, this disease, this spiritual virus, of Jewry. Capitalism and Bolshevism, 2 sides of the same shekel. The Jew Soul, the essence of The Jew, which he spreads unto all other nations, is his nihilistic, atheistic, corrupt, degenerate nature. Human paraquat. The Jew must be separated from society by the sieve of nationalistic fascism/National Socialism
