Net neutrality makes it so that internet companies can't slow down certain websites or put them behind tiered paywalls. All traffic must be treated equally.
Sup Forums likes using the internet.
Republicans want to get rid of net neutrality.
So why do you retards keep voting for republicans? Do you actually want to pay more for internet access?
Net neutrality is a retarded bandaid on the underlying problem that is the internet provider monopoly. Comcast and infinity need to be broken up
Thomas Miller
How would removing net neutrality break up those companies?
Robert Diaz
Good its time for you poorfags to get off my fiber. Do we really need dindus clogging up the web uploading videos to world star?
Jace Long
Conservatives get censored all across the Internet, so it's not as if they'd be losing all that much. Deal with slow Internet, libtards.
William Wright
Watch Sup Forums suddenly start loading a lot slower once it gets repealed then.
Luis Stewart
NN is no help to people in the city who have good choices. To people in the middle of nowhere where they might have one low-speed choice, NN would take away the internet altogether. Because fairness. If you want a barebones voice and text for a low monthly rate, NN says fuck you.
If you need the government to step in and help you deal with your ISP then you are a peasant, not a citizen.
Levi Hill
Maybe for $2/hour shills and welfare liberals.
Killing Net neutrality might fix this board.
Owen Robinson
It wouldn't, hes saying our government needs to dismantle the vice grip they have on the industry. Its illegal, our government is suppose to destroy monopolies when they rise up, whoch they fucking dont do any more cause their all paid off by fucking disgusting lobiest WHO SHOULD ALSO BE ILLEGAL FUCKING POLITICS SHOULD NEVER BE PROFITABLE AND IF YOU EVER FUCKING RECEIVE FREE MONEY WHILE WORKING FOR GOVERNMENT YOU SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.
God fucking damn it where has my country gone
Luke Kelly
>There are people on Sup Forums right now against open, free-market practices
Fucking disgusting. If ISPs want to make you pay extra for certain sites, that's their prerogative. The free market will fix this so it works.
Carson Flores
So you'd happily pay more for internet service if it meant people you disagree with having to deal with it too.
You're a special kind of retarded.
Angel Hill
No, the free market isn't going to suddenly step up and give us viable options other than Comcast or U-Verse at this point. It would've happened by now.
Noah Howard
Because mass immigration and Islam are more important issues than net neutrality you pathetic weeb. >hurt sure destroy your country and vote left, you like the intranets right?
Nolan Lopez
It hasn't happened because of government interference. We don't have a truly free market.
Yeah because we all know how business likes to give up market share and lose potential customers. Come on man employ logic here.
Joseph Howard
this
these kikey attempts to divide are so lame
Andrew Murphy
The difference, you tard, is that I could afford the top-tier service while most of these fuckheads who say nothing about mass censorship of conservatives across social media and who shill on boards like this wouldn't be able to afford it.
Julian Morris
What's the matter, you don't earn enough disposable income?
Carter Lopez
infrastructure is extremely vulnerable and expensive, the only reason it is left alone is that it's a thing everyone uses If you put it behind a paywall, you're going to deal with the repercussion that people that can't pay could very easily damage the infrastructure, and ruin it for everyone, including those who pay, and you'd have to repair it every time There's a substation 50 meters from my house, and most of the internet and telephone infrastructure on the street is protected by a flimsy fiber+plastic casing, where 196 lines are stored The free market will fix nothing when the current infrastructure is so vulnerable to malicious attacks
Camden Reed
Not to mention these morons are whining about speeds when tiered speeds already exist in cellular plans, satellite packages, and regular broadband services. Hopefully allowing competition will break up the monopoly.
Cameron Parker
Net neutrality was a solution looking for a problem, with riders on top.
Dylan King
You live in northern Libya though. That will happen regardless of the scenario. In America we wont let dindu abuse deter us from bettering our services. Most dindus are using cellular already and paying premium for tiered service.
Christopher Cox
>All traffic must be treated equally.
#PacketEquality
i am against equality so i am against "net neutrality"
Justin Barnes
We've had to deal with anarchists putting thermite and explosives in the cable's wells for DECADES, the infrastructure here is still extremely vulnerable but mostly distributed, the solution to that was arrests of the dozen of idiots that kept doing it, and putting cameras every other corner of those hotspots What happens when instead of a dozen anarchists you have tens of thousand of pissed people that can't use the internet because they can't or won't pay for it? Shit happens, and there's nobody to blame but idiots like you
Sebastian Sullivan
First off, you tard, while I think conservative shit like "global warming is a chinese hoax" or "net neutrality is bad" are fucking idiotic, I don't believe you should be censored. You certainly aren't being censored here, but everyone is free to call you a fucking idiot if you say stupid shit that has no basis in reality.
Second, there is no point to removing net neutrality other than to fuck most people over with higher prices and give a giant blowjob to the internet companies that already have a big monopoly on the market.
Chase Fisher
Why USA doesn't have anti-monopoly agency?
Jayden Rivera
what is cool about 'net neutrality'
its 'name'
the people who wanted it to occur knew that it needed a good name as sopa and all the other internet regulatory bills were always met with great resistance. this time around they knew how to name it in a manner that instills in you acceptance. neutrality is GOOD!
its 'selling point'
bro big bad scary companies are going to take advantage of you! we want to protect you by ensuring they stay neutral! you love this!
its end goal and implementation
to give the fcc full reigns on american internet activity, and regulate the internet in the same way that commerce and industry are currently regulated, as well as opening the door to complete identity based monitoring of all internet usage in order to enforce these regulations
'net neutrality' is one of many obama era government intrusions to your freedom in the name of protection
plz government protect me from life with regulations
Joshua Gutierrez
Yeah, I agree with this. "Net Neutrality" is just a libshit distraction from the fact of monopoly ownership.
Jace Reed
i hate the internet and i want them to make me stop
Nathan Hill
Literally and dumbass can crash into a pole by accident, and shut a city down, not just internet, but power too.
This has always been the case, malicious intent or not.
Andrew Rogers
but, but, trump said there would be winning....
Jackson Bailey
Net Neutrality cedes control of the internet to the FCC and does NOTHING to protect free speech you fucking idiot kill yourself government stooge
Dylan Perez
American internet is slow to expand because of net neutrality. Why the fuck would they run fiber to the sticks if they make no return on the investment? They would run more cable if they could change their pricing and the govt wouldn't have to subsidize any expansion.
Justin Roberts
are you actually retarded
Ryder Reyes
>mfw my 4g mobile internet is faster than most yanks get at home I complain about the UK having shitty upstream bandwidth because of dumb shit like fiber to exchange, but honestly it's been years since I've had the speed of my internet be an issue in my life. There are only two real providers and a shitload of resellers, but as long as Virgin and BT duke it out I get rewarded for switching/threatening to switch each time my term is up. Shame May is going to fuck it all up when she gets elected, look at this shit: independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/theresa-may-internet-conservatives-government-a7744176.html
Jacob Foster
Once every 6 months, maybe, twice a season in some local communities at most Now think what happens when that shit happens twice a week on national scale What do you do when your paid internet uptime goes down to less than 25%?
Justin Rogers
Do you faggots literally just support whatever Reddit hates?
I can't believe what I'm seeing some of you retards say here.
Net neutrality is good for the people. I can't fathom how much of a cuck you need to be to say the poor companies need more money.
Isaiah Myers
In America we run the shit underground or its broadcast from towers.
Hunter Fisher
(You)
Justin Stewart
Who fucking cares, the Internet was a mistake anyway.
Jason Thompson
>Do you actually want to pay more for internet access? no, i want you to. and you know you will, that's why you're against it. right now you don't pay anywhere near what you should for the amount of shit ideas and opinions you and everyone like you dumps all over social media. you need to be priced out, so that the political signal-to-noise ratio can improve.
Nolan Richardson
Censorship across social media is a bigger threat to conservatives' Internet experience than muh Net neutrality. What you should be doing is reading your Alinsky and learning the value of organizing on multiple issues rather than being a single-issue organizer. Your Alinsky will also teach you that you have to communicate within the experience of your audience, and the Internet experience of conservatives is being censored across every major platform.
Raising the cost of living is actually good political Darwinism, given the circumstances. It means more people will be getting useful college degrees rather than the usual gender studies / queer theory / critical theory / pomo bullshit that produces nothing more than obnoxious SJWs and hall-monitor censors.
I would gladly pay more for a top-tier Internet service if it fucks up the liberals who are shitting on my Internet every single day.
Parker Gomez
We also have cellular towers, they are just as vulnerable as the underground infrastructure with the wide spread of drones
Owen Torres
Sup Forums is responsible for killing net neutrality, isn't that beautifully ironic, have fun drumpf fags.
Jason Robinson
...
Jaxon Harris
>'net neutrality' is one of many obama era government intrusions
Unless you think that the World Wide Web was invented under Obama's administration, that's highly doubtful.
Camden Gutierrez
>Thanks mmmbama
Landon Richardson
But why would they? They're using the infrastructure too, it's like some people buy 2 jars of pickles but you can only afford 1, so you smash and piss on all the pickle jars at the shop.
Where's the logic in this?
Ian Morgan
Why does a brit care exactly? This is what I don't get why do foreigners care about pricing plans in the US? Maybe you are being prodded to care for someone elses benefit?
Robert Davis
no they don't. they grew massively despite the adversity of regulations thrown in their face, decade after decade. those regulations now protect them, because they simply bought the changes they need to prevent competitors from springing up. none of that bullshit should ever have been written in the first place, and the only way to improve market competition now is to get rid of all of it and abolish the FCC. their large, complacent workforce -- if that's really what it is, and the services really are bad -- will be placed into a competitive scenario of "anything goes" and they will break up naturally, like all failed franchises and chains do.
Aaron Gutierrez
>assuming i'm a brit based off my flag I'm only here at Heathrow for a layover
Charles Sanders
>They're using the infrastructure too And that's what you don't get If you put a paywall, there will be a larger number of people prevented to use the infrastructure, and if that number is high enough to spark malcontent, you'll have anarchist actions to destroy such infrastructure, because surprise surprise, anarchy thrives on that shit
Christopher Wright
we have agencies that bear those names that are created in law largely by the suggestions of lobbyists from the corporations that will be regulated by them. it is information warfare, and liberals are losing, because they believe what's on the label.
Lincoln Campbell
Americans are too stupid to understand what traffic priority policy means and simply dont know that their internet speeds will regress to the 90's.
Eli Ramirez
Net neutrality in a nutshell:
A Netflix data center starts sending 8k video to Comcast customers. During peak hours huge amounts of Comcast bandwidth are being consumed. As a result, Comcast can't deliver to the customers the bandwidth they pay for. Next thing you know, the local 911 center is having problems receiving calls because they decided voip was the future and their internet traffic is considered equal to some pig laying in bed watching bangbus in VR.
Ryan Collins
>I don't mind getting fucked up the ass, as long as everyone I hate gets fucked up the ass too.
Jesus Christ you unbelievable cuck.
It's this kind of bullshit that made me realize I was being a blind follower of liberal beliefs.
Stop pushing me back in that direction.
Angel Mitchell
then why wasn't that the case before net neutrality legislation?
Luis Bailey
Why do we want the same people that censor TV and radio running the internet?
Jason Reyes
>During peak hours huge amounts of Comcast bandwidth are being consumed. As a result, Comcast can't deliver to the customers the bandwidth they pay for. even we don't have this problem; fix your infrastructure
Adrian Cox
>The free market will fix this so it works.
No because the government currently supports the big telecom monopolies so outside competition is crushed.
Brayden Jenkins
That's fine but lots of foreigners are speaking up on this.
Julian Gray
Get deported shitskin loving nation wrecker. sage.
Lincoln Hill
I think it's fun seeing your country go to shit, by your own doing. (if you voted for the god emperor that is.)
Jaxson Green
A company should be free to sell you whatever service they want and it is your prerogative not to buy and seek out a competitor with a better offer. If you don't like Verizon's pricing scheme, switch to a different provider. What you should be demanding is that government move the barrier to entry into the internet provider market out of the way. On top of that, if I could buy a starter package for 20-30 bucks and buy additional packages of websites I actually use for 5 dollars each it might turn out cheaper than what I am paying now.
Dominic Bennett
What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for power? Gold? Or were you just born with a heart full of *neutrality*?
Luis Cruz
Net Neutrality is not in effect. We are currently using the internet without any positive laws for it.
Cooper Murphy
you dug your own grave by voting republican
>mfw member of the EU
Grayson Rogers
That's true, a think a lot of anons here are just concerned about a "domino effect" (i.e. revoking net neutrality in the U.S. could lead to a similar situation abroad)
Isaiah Bennett
That's Comcast fault for not improving the infrastructure silly
Christian Evans
the only people who get upset over this are losers who spend 16 hours a day on the internet. no one cares about your opinion.
Luke Garcia
If we wanted a free internet, we should have given it away. Truth is, actual net neutrality has always been part of the fundamental protocols that are the internet. Service providers are content blind. What you hear as "net neutrality" is actually a scam by major websites to offload their costs to you the consumer. Cable companies own the wires. They want to set up their wires to be most efficient and service people in the most profitable way. Some internet users, like Netflix, use far more band with than anyone else. (Part of that is that the internet inherently favors text over video.) If Netflix speed drops, people stop watching Netflix. If prices go up too much, most people will drop Netflix. Cable companies say Netflix has to pay more to get more band with, ideally for everyone by buying their own direct line into the internal networks of the cable companies. That's absolutely fair under net neutrality. Netflix doesn't like that answer because it means they will be the ones covering most of that cost. Silicon valley's push for "net netrality" has got nothing to do with fair access to the internet. The Fox's prior ruling is simply a way for the government to more heavily regulate content. Why when it comes to what you love the most, do you trust the very people you loathe? Silicon valley is a scam, and every company there deserves a reckoning. The business models don't work, and are only possible because of government interference. I hope you all are ready for dot.com burst 2.0. You should sell your stock now.
William Wilson
IIRC they are sneaky about it, dividing up areas between themselves and avoiding competition so that they can price gouge everyone and all make stupid profits in their own corners.
Nathaniel Jackson
Good. Now my ISP can tell the degenerate Jew porn companies to fuck off.
Jose Rodriguez
Big companies write the laws that are hoops for the small companies to jump through. In this case they define basic service upward.
Don't you have a field to plow, peasant?
Jonathan Johnson
>edgy pack :Sup Forums, other chans, reddit >29.99
Henry Jones
Where did this fanfiction come from
Sebastian Perry
Because one thing is to charge for a certain maximum bandwidth with all the costumers being considered of equal priority, another thing is to pay for both a certain bandwidth and a certain priority (this time more expensive services have higher priorities) which means, in a caricature sort of scenario, that if two rich kikes of your neighborhood are jacking of to porn while downloading a pile of shit while clogging the line, you are left with shit and, at best, you get an awful bandwidth.
Jose White
Its because we have 300 million fucking people genius.
John Reyes
Fucking moron, it's not obligatory, you choose to pay for a service. Cut the internet with million others and we'll see how long they would keep it.
Benjamin Peterson
How many times do I have to say that it wouldn't be any skin off my back paying more? And it's not just a matter of paying more for current speeds. It's paying more for (1) current speeds; (2) fucked-up liberals. I'm more than happy to use my wallet for political gain.
Carter Wilson
what of it? networks scale
Nathan Foster
If it stopped nigs from posting online I'd support whatever you have.
Thomas Hernandez
That's not how the internet works dipshit
Dylan Martin
Because the Pig paid premium. Tough shit! Gianna Michaels comes first.
Robert Wright
Thanks zap
Ryder Green
It not some infinite resource, there is a limit and its being pushed.
Fiber optics arne't even a standard in households yet.
Daniel Allen
Wrong. Cable companies were granted limited monopolies for cable TV Service, due to the high cost and regulations for actually putting cable in the ground. They are not allowed to be regional monopolies as Isps. This is why Dish was created, and why it is in just about every state. The problem with this model is that cable is so far the best way to run internet. A problem right NOW, and part of how you can tell the "net neutrality" debate is bullshit, is the current system is not at all like roads or plumbing. Cable companies own the wires and also own the networks that deliver data across those cables. If you want to introduce a utility-like regulation, you would first need to split these functions up, so one company ran the wires, and others openly competed on networking. This is clearly less good though if you want yo maintain advancements to the technology. Any gov intrusion is bad for that.
Sebastian Smith
Enlighten me then. Where and how do we get unlimited infinite bandwidth that can be distributed so freely?
Owen Bennett
Underrated post
Matthew Young
"Net Neutrality" is the first step towards internet hate regulation. It's the typical Jew trick of pretending to help you while stabbing you in the back.
Oliver Nguyen
>make another internet without the us >??? >profit
Austin Morales
can you tell me what's so special about the US which means that the usual profit-expand-profit-expand loop doesn't work? companies like comcast are fucking rolling in LODS OF EMONE but fattening up a struggling backend pipe is apparently too hard for them, some magical limit having been hit.
Caleb Gutierrez
m80, ending net neutrality will create fast lanes for specific types of media.
This is a good thing. It will open the door to full 4k interactive internet TV
or streaming video games will be much better.
net neutrality is evil.
Jacob Walker
>projecting this hard just because you can't afford a few more cents to pay for your Internet, doesn't mean others can't Did they cut off your foreskin by the way?
John Howard
1. It's not infrastructure. 2. If one person is using more than everyone else, shouldn't they pay more than everyone else? Why should the public cover the costs of profiteers? If no one is willing to pay the true costs of having Netflix, then clearly it is not viable in a free market, and should fail. Anything else is a major waste of resources. It's only possible because of government intrusions. It's time for it to stop.
Tyler Barnes
>It will open the door to full 4k interactive internet TV you don't already have 100+mbit internet connections for less than $10 there? what a shithole of a country
Nolan Martin
Because we have a shitload of people who don't actually contribute and a bunch of other burdens and my country isn't that rich(the average citizens) so people(with money) horde their money rather than invest into my country.
America is dying.
Jack Edwards
I don't disagree with them, I hate them.
Jose Gonzalez
it's not needed for these these things though because you already max out your connection with all of those. you're not struggling against internal network congestion.
