I CANT WAIT FOR ALL THE NEW EXCITING PRICE STRUCTURES THE CABLE AND INTERNET COMPANIES WILL BE INTRODUCING IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS! I CANT WAIT TO PAY EXTRA FOR ALL MY FAVORITE WEBSITES AND STREAMING SERVICES. THANKS BASED REPUBLICANS! THANKS BASED TRUMP!

>No net neutrality for the past 40 years
>thinks anything will change
enough fearmongering you dumb cuck.
Or you could stop using the i ternet so much
>No fucking NET for the past 30 years too...
YOUR JUST A FUCKING RETARD. LOL
anything to not have to admit how stupid you were lol lol lol (at you )
you'll see dumb ass.
Liberals tend to campaign for whatever John Oliver has as his main story. Like clockwork.
Liberals tend to campaign for whatever John Oliver had as his main story that week. Like clockwork.

OOOGA BOOGA BOOOGA
They want to charge HD streaming sites thsemselves, not the consumer
What a shitty thread, SAGED
I have T Mobile.
None of the popular music streaming services, IE Spotify, Google Play Music, etc, count towards my monthly data usage. I stream a shitload of music, so this is excellent for me as a consumer.
"Net neutrality" people want to ban this practice because it makes it harder for shitty services like Tidal to compete.
All "net neutrality" does is prevent nice little deals like this. It's essentially a bailout for shitty websites and services.
Ted Cruz said it best, "Obamacare for the internet".
>asked to explain it
>instead of explaining it, tries to persuade them by name-dropping "obama" as though people like him
>based leaf sighted
fpbp
I think this was a lose lose situation.
>Keep the government out of the internet, and allow comcast to charge you extra for watching video on the internet to make up for so many people not bothering with their overpriced shit cable tv packages
>allow government to regulate and run the risk liberals take it over and start censoring all parts of the internet while data mining for hate crimes.
Paying extra because comcast is a shit company that cant compete with streaming is the lesser of two evils. Do not let government get their hands on regulating the internet. Now the trump admin could offer grants to start up companies to compete or remove the monopoly on putting wires up on existing poles that comcast/time warner own and that would help get some competition.
and that means you will have to turn to the (((mainstream media))) you fucking mong. dismantling net neutrality is a method of controlling speech and nothing more. only a fucking goyim would be stupid enough to think its about netflix or facebook.
It literally is just netflix, hulu, and amazon prime. They cause enormous strain on the infrestructure every evening
Obama detractors are fat and ugly..
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I Get it, so fucking funny!
>I R STOOPIT!
You retard. Without NN, Tmobile will be allowed to charge you extra when you access those services.
"A widely-cited example of a violation of net neutrality principles was when the Internet service provider Comcast was secretly slowing (a.k.a. "throttling") uploads from peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) applications by using forged packets.[6] Comcast didn't stop blocking these protocols like BitTorrent until the FCC ordered them to do so.[7] In 2004, The Madison River Communications company was fined $15,000 by the FCC for restricting their customer’s access to Vonage which was rivaling their own services. [8] AT&T was also caught limiting access to FaceTime, so only those users who paid for the new shared data plans could access the application.[9] In April 2017, a recent attempt to compromise net neutrality in the United States is being considered by the newly appointed FCC chairman, Ajit Varadaraj Pai.[10][11]
Research suggests that a combination of policy instruments will help realize the range of valued political and economic objectives central to the network neutrality debate.[12] Combined with strong public opinion, this has led some governments to regulate broadband Internet services as a public utility, similar to the way electricity, gas and water supply is regulated, along with limiting providers and regulating the options those providers can offer.[13]"
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating the Internet should treat all data on the Internet the same, not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication.[1] The term was coined by Columbia University media law professor Tim Wu in 2003, as an extension of the longstanding concept of a common carrier, which was used to describe the role of telephone systems.[2][3][4][5]
But they are a private company. They should be able to do whatever the hell they want. You don't like it, cancel your service. Grow the fuck up.
I can't wait for the government to seize more power instead of using the power they already have to fix shit. Another fucking money drain and way to abuse power hooray.
Yes capitalisms and competition is working so well that most Americans only have access to one ISP
I don't understand. If I'm internet provider A with X capacity, why shouldn't I be able to optimize the traffic if one sort of data over X than other types, especially if my customers predominately use the type I want to prioritize? If I can't do so then a small proportion of my customers may end up using the lion's share of my capacity, which is fine, but I should be able to charge these people more money to use all that capacity
Why on earth would you start a description of Net Neutrality with "[POLITICAL FIGURE] is for it?"
the internet is a utility.
Do you think water companies should be able to turn off the water to homes of people they dont like?
Internet has become more than a private service rendered by some company, it's become necessary in many forms of work, hence it being a utility.
Ending NN would allow companies to go "Well bruh your internet setup in this area would cost us X amount and we still want to make lots of money off you so were charging you triple retail price".
1. Title II classification is pretty meaningless. They are basically utilities in name only - except that, once classified as such, the existing companies gain permanent, government sanctioned monopolies.
2. The lack of legislation is what has made the Internet the most important technological advance since fire was discovered.
3. This is a matter for the FTC, not the FCC. The usage of a product, utility or not, and the abuse/overcharging of said product is a matter for the FTC. The FCC filing is essentially useless as it stands now.
I should add, there's nothing inherently wrong with net neutrality. The problem comes in the way the rabid, uninformed public wants this implemented. There needs to be a sufficient amount of competition and a more stable economy surrounding the Internet before this can all be implemented, or else all this is doing is granting Comcast and ATT control of many areas of the country forever, and gives them the ability to price gouge the consumer as much as possible until regulation is brought upon it by Title II. And I'd much rather have companies gouged than the average consumer.
>The internet was invented 10 years ago
It wasn't, retard. The internet has been around for well over 40 years at this point, though mostly 30 in a form that's even similar to the current. Shit probably won't change that majorly.
>It's going to be bad, they're going to charge for a bunch of services on the net guys
You say as you're probably already subscribed to Netflix streaming and other services with a monthly fee
The concept of a free and open internet didn't *suddenly* come into existence in 2015. It's been the de facto standard of the internet for 30 years and we didn't need to give a government agent absurd, vague, and overreaching regulatory powers to preserve it.
We had network neutrality before the FCC rules were enacted.
We'll have network neutrality after the FCC rules are revoked.
>Laptop at a bar
The people who write these things are fucking inhuman
the point of ending net neutrality is so that everyone can have broadband internet.
They'll want everyone to have broadband, because then they can sell them media and services on the broadband, and ramp up the speed, as needed, for the service.
Like cloud gaming, internet tv, youtube, etc would run perfectly.
We had network neutrality before the FCC rules - without needing the FCC regulations, and that was back when communities had far fewer choices for service providers. Free market competition keeps them in check.
No single company is going to gut network neutrality because they know it'll send a sizable chunk of their customers to one of their competitors. The only way you'd ever see it happen is if all the major companies (and even most of the smaller ones) all conspired to do it simultaneously... which would be a blatant violation of FTC anti-trust laws and would result in all of these companies getting their proverbial shit kicked in.
You know kid: its like 10 bucks for a vpn and it will unlock all your favorite websites and it will keep you secure
>tfw I dont have any pics to show love for Canada
FPBP
Hope so, good to know. So if it does happen, it wouldn't happen immediately but over time.
Back to shitposting.
HA!
The reason we only have one or two ISP choices in a given area is because the government got involved in the first place. Get govt out and let capitalism work.
Net Neutrality will prevent firms from charging higher rates for better service. Why wouldn't any rational person wan't it.
IF THEY'RE BLACK PEOPLE YES!!!!!!11
Net neutrality allows "power users", ie the 10% of people using 75% of available bandwidth, to pay the exact same amount as everyone else. It forces everyone to subsidize a seect few people and companies who are making money hand over fist cuz they don't have to pay in anyway for all the bandwidth they use. Net neutrality is a fraud and needs to go.
Stop embarrassing yourself please. The Internet has been around for decades.
A Mercedes-Benz costs several times more than a Ford pickup.
By the logic of net neutrality, these two cars should be equally priced. Because reasons.
>well its true that industry X isn't doing anti-consumer policy Y right now
>BUT THEY COULD IN THE FUTURE!!!
Literally any government regulation can be justified using this logic.
>autists will literally defend something as fucking stupid as net neutrality just because trump supported it
You fucking cucks would support trump if he said all white women should have to fuck any black man who asked.
We lost the internet when the gubbmint shut down all the independent ISPs to consolidate to ATT and Comcast to make it easier to listen in.
Why after all the time im assuming anyone in this thread would spend here. Are you all flumoxed about where and how this has formed. This ideal of censoring the net. This consolidation of censorship through the mandated filter is literally what even meme tier conspiracy analyists have been harping on about since arpanet developed into the internet. Every time I see a thread like this blaming one side of the isle, it's absolutely black pilling to see how many people legitimately think there is a democratic fix to all this. Corporatism is in and its never going anywhere so long as we give our lives to it products and protocols. The human race's western spirit was squelched long ago. Bravo you political juggernauts, you've been blind to it all in your such for solutions surrounding the bandwagon of your petty candidates. Enjoy the future we all chose by being the 'good' men who do literally nothing.
Point is it's not going to happen unless all the companies conspire with each other - which is an outright violation of anti-trust law that would result in them getting immediately bitch-slapped by the FTC.
Let me use an analogy here.
Suppose you've got a favorite diner you like to eat lunch at. You go their all the time, get a nice burger and fries or whatever. Then one day they announce that they're going to have a tiered service system, and regular customers will only get served after customers who signed up for their $30/mo "preferred customer" package have been served.
At this point you have some choices.
1) You can pay the diner for their tiered service package and continue eating there with fast service.
2) You can continue eating at that diner, and put up with the hassle of slower service.
3) You can look for somewhere new to eat lunch, taking into account that this new diner might not have the same menu, might be more expensive, or might have slower service than you're used to.
4) You can order in.
5) You can stop eating out.
What you do not do at this point is give the Federal Burger Commission broad-sweeping regulatory power over the restaurant industry.
Now, if ALL the diners in your town conspire to all switch to a tiered service system at the same time, THEN you call the FTC in.
This post is the truth. There were already laws for dealing with monopolistic abuse prior to FCC net neutrality. NN was a power grab, plain and simple.
So why does the FCC shut down municipalities that set up their own fiber? It seems that the future of the tech industry is going to be in some small town in the middle of nowhere that was able to set up fiber while the FCC forgot about them.
>Obama's for net neutrality.
what part of net neutrality makes it okay to spy on people through their webcams and root through their email?
>You can look for somewhere new to eat lunch
What if it's the only diner for 20 miles out?
At this point net neutrality is required because we already have monopolies. The problem now is that people only get outraged about net neutrality instead of lack of competition between ISPs.
There is no fucking reason up and down speeds should be different. That requires throttling on the ISP's end, thus if there was any competition at all the competitor would immediately provide a package that has the same up/down speeds, possibly for less $/month as it would require less work to provide a superior service.
I don't get it why US laws are dumb and this issue isn't covered already, the way it looks from the outside already looks like it's a combination of local monopolies that would indicate conspiring together to not tread on each other. Antitrust laws should already come in.
>obama is for it
>hands over dns
alternate dns when
>At this point net neutrality is required because we already have monopolies.
Name a city in the US with a population of 10,000 or more that doesn't have
A) at least two ISPs
B) access to satellite internet
C) access to mobile internet
Still waiting.
Like everything else sold as helping the little guy.
Net neutrality is a meme of the end-to-end principle corrupted by fools whom never set foot in a networking class .
For those don't know what the end-to-end principle is
en.m.wikipedia.org
Most people believe this law when it's just really guidelines for network engineers, this when to shit when ipv6 came. Supporters net neutrality are ignorant of networking as a whole and only think of the last mile connection?
This guys get it.
>Internet appeared 10 years ago
Curiously, 10 years ago is when Internet started rapidly turning complete shit.
>my monthly data usage
>excellent for me as a consumer
You do realize, that normal Internet connection has no data caps at all?
>A republican asks "can you explain what X is and why we should support it"
>The first words out of your mouth are "Obama supports it"
>Republican face when
Net Neutrality is literally crony capitalism
They did, but Yanks are dumb and easily tricked by shills.
>government no longer steps in a companies way to prevent then from commiting sepuku
>having options are evil, if someone only wants to pay 5 dollars a month to go on 5 websites as much as they want, they should go to hell
>only one ISP needs to offer unlimited service, like Sprint did, then everyone will out of necessity to stay competitive.
Nigga, its like you da last person in earf that unnastands of dem free markeetz wurk cuz
>tfw I dont have any pics to show love for Canada
take this
fpbp
Crony capitalism is fine when the people that aren't the cronies are assholes.
Oh boy I can't wait for the Internet to become just as great as the media and the music industry
>NEW EXCITING PRICE STRUCTURES
Like the ones we had 2 years ago before this regulation?
Also turn off your caps lock, you illiterate nigger.
I mist have missed this mystery candidate that stood a chance in our two party shitfest.
GTFO reddit nigger
go peddle this bullshit to a non existence problem elsewhere
FAKE NEWS!
Everything has a downside. When trump was campaigning he came out against Internet freedom. So why did we back trump?
We backed trump because the alternative was someone who would have flooded the country with refugees and literally backs people who openly want to genocide not just white people but anybody who is successful in America.
Not even an exaggeration the left in this country literally wants violence and death upon all successful people especially non jewish whites.
What the fuck choice do you think we had here (speaking to everyone in this thread now)? There was no fucking choice.
The problem is that it should never have come to this. The intelligence apparatus of this country should never ever have been allowed to be turned against the people. Trump got in because of Russia? Okay leftists assuming that's true HOW after the trillions TRILLIONS spent on the insanity of the NSA CIA FBI DIA and the rest is it that the ONE FUCKING TIME we actually needed them they aren't there but all the rest of the time they had no problem spying on and killing innocent Americans?!?
It really sucks that the Internet is going to get censored. Frankly it's a disaster. And the loss of net neutrality will do just that anyone who says otherwise has no software knowledge what so ever.
It makes me very angry and very sad but I literally cannot and could not do anything about this. Plus the data would indicate Hillary would have done the same exact thing on this issue so it literally doesn't matter.
The Internet is a threat to globalism and to global feudal lords. Sooner or later the day had to come when the clearnet got the gas chamber as a result. That day is just about here.
This is why blockchain decentralized services and a decentralized chan engine are important and would be great. Unfortunately too many cucks and normies dislike innovation so all three of those things are either not yet in existence are too far behind to save us and time is up.
>>only one ISP needs to offer unlimited service, like Sprint did, then everyone will out of necessity to stay competitive.
Or a few wealthy men can sit down in a room together and all agree on price fixing. They don't want to lower the value of the product they sell and those companies service 96% of all American homes.
They will call it a "tech conference" but behind the closed doors very bad things will be happening for American consumers. Collusion is a very real possibility. They can all simply agree on the same fee structure and agree not to aggressively compete on specific things.
A good example of this is how the banks rigged ATM fees. Rules were put in place to prevent cometing lower fees for ATM usage. VISA, mastercard, and major Banks like JP Morgan and Bank of America put pressure on independent ATM operators to prevent them from offering competitive lower fees. The big players in the industry were demanding price fixing.
The exact same thing will happen with net neutrality. If all the big players decide that there should be a $5 monthly access fee to specific steaming sites (on top of the normal subscription fee) then that fee will become an industry standard overnight.
One more post by me
Basically this is what will happen. End result will be censorship by bandwidth restriction anybody not in with the Jewish telecoms will be forced off which is most everybody that matters worth a fuck.
Free speech like privacy is just about dead. This is the nightmare and you can't wake up.
But again there was literally no choice. Net neutrality is the only good thing the singular not shit thing the nigger did. But it was never going to survive that was a given.
Decentralized user net based on blockchain is what will I hope eventually risen up to replace what we are about to lose. If you want to help then I suggest you all spend more time on Sup Forums and start learning basic code and basic p2p software principle.
Maybe get involved with the blockchain projects and help that way. Long slow and hard journey ahead but that's how it's gonna have to be. We cannot and could not risk flooding the country with Islamic barbarians over a single issue. Sorry.
tfw you elect a 70-year-old man who doesn't understand the internet
Read what we fucking wrote shill.
There was no option and the psycho bitch doesn't understand it either.
Unless you forgot le nazi frog meme
I really hope the mod did not autosage this
Bump
Please don't die thread
This, cry more bitch OP
...
tl;dr
Tldr we knew trump would gut net neutrality but Hillary probably would have too and it was not worth risking a vote for her over considering the Marxist left wants to kill us all.
>Or a few wealthy men can sit down in a room together and all agree on price fixing.
If only we had some kind of anti-trust laws in place to deal with that sort of thing.
maybe so but his son his really fucking good with the cyber
Also airline baggage fees. Suddenly all at once these was this fee for your first checked bag when it used to be free. Behind closed doors the airlines all sat down together and agreed to do it. Delta earned over $500 million extra from this practice last year alone and it would not have been possible to set up such a fee system alone.
If only one airline started charging the surprise "fuck you!" fee people would immediately switch so they all had to do it at once. And they did exactly that. Much like the ATM fees, there have been class action lawsuits and cries of collusion in the airline industry but they are far too rich to lose. Consumers were fucked.
ISPs are going to have the power to do this exact same thing.
>he thinks the (((net neutrality))) bill isnt what will cause this shit
They renamed those other bills that you hated to "net neutrality" and you stupid fucking reddittors are supporting a bill you've never read.
Kill yourself.
Surely new ISPs will spring up offering data equality. The free market will right this
Shill please go back to /REDDIT/ if you want to bash Trump. "Net Neutrality" is an Obama socialist program for the government to take control away from the FREE market and give it to bureaucrats.
They already have. It's almost impossible to find a city in the US anymore that doesn't have either a number of smaller, low-speed ISPs to choose from, or access to satellite or mobile internet providers.
NN si fine but under the current regulations of also being T2 it locks out small startups ho cannot adhear to the public works regulations due to costs.
Once it's removed a new protection wwill be put in place. Chill out homo's pornhub's still gonna be free.
>If only we had some kind of anti-trust laws in place to deal with that sort of thing.
With the right politicians on your side you are immune to those. The airline, automotive, credit card, and banking industry have done this shit for years. They effortlessly won every court battle.
Remember the golden rule: "He who has the gold makes the rules"
don't lead with obama. Lead with "the government has been pouring loads of money into bringing internet "roads" to the whole country and now the corporations want complete ownership and legal authority over them"
>We backed trump because the alternative was someone who would have flooded the country with refugees and literally backs people who openly want to genocide not just white people but anybody who is successful in America.
This is very true. I voted for Trump because I have been strongly against mass unchecked immigration and live in a shitty part of town where illegals are common place. I want our borders to be secure, and I wanted to have our American values and norms secured. Not flooded with shit 3rd world Muslims and Mexicans. Bringing their backwards ideologies, and crime with them. And I'm Hispanic myself but I am American first and foremost. My heritage is my own and practiced in private. I don't go waiving the mexican flag acting like its the greatest fucking thing in the world but refuse to go live there and act like its a death sentence.
>Plus the data would indicate Hillary would have done the same exact thing on this issue so it literally doesn't matter.
>The Internet is a threat to globalism and to global feudal lords. Sooner or later the day had to come when the clearnet got the gas chamber as a result. That day is just about here.
>The Internet is a threat to globalism and to global feudal lords. Sooner or later the day had to come when the clearnet got the gas chamber as a result. That day is just about here.
This is something that has always bothered me. By that logic its a very real possibility that Trump would pull a 180 and start flooding the US with "beautiful muslim babies" especially with how Ivanka swayed him to attack Assade. Honestly if the globalists have such power its very likely they have both sides in their pockets. Still, unlike when Obama gave away ICANN Trump cant even take a shit without the entire media shining light on it. So hopefully this measure will get overturned and the internet remains a free and unrestricted place for the US (Cause other countries are fucking their internet up)
i think this is a good thing
free internet was a mistake
free information was a mistake
>Curiously, 10 years ago is when Internet started rapidly turning complete shit.
That's around when every nigger and spastic got an iPhone.
So let me see if I follow your logic here.
You don't trust the free market to manage things, because you think companies will just bribe government officials to change the rules to benefit them...
... but you trust that same government you think is constantly being bribed and corrupted to help fuck you over enough to support giving them broad, overreaching regulatory powers over an entire medium?
>If you want to help then I suggest you all spend more time on Sup Forums and start learning basic code and basic p2p software principle.
Will they actually HELP people that are new or give "Delete system32" advice? I know it can be grating to have newfreinds ask basic questions all the time but the Sup Forums culture is so abrasive at times its almost self defeating.
Also, several airlines don't charge for the first bag, and Southwest doesn't charge for checked bags at all.
