What can be proven is that Varg drove to Euronymous apartment immediately upon hearing that Euronymous was talking shit, climbed the stairs of that apartment building and instigated a confrontation. Euronymous kicked Varg in the chest in self defense, but it was a futile effort because Varg had brought a knife with him up to the apartment, which shows intent.
He stabbed him 23 times – two to the head, five to the neck, and sixteen to the back. He then disposed of evidence after leaving the apartment.
That isn't self defense.
