im from the us and no they didnt check my phones at either airport
just had to put them in the plastic basket along with the charger and it just went down a conveyor
all they checked from my carry on was liquids and a cheese sandwich from the friend i was staying with
they also took my water bottle, which was my mistake for trying to take it in a carry on
