Actually something kind of interesting. If you look at world history, white people only really rose to dominance since around 1500. After that point they became a completely unstoppable force. Before that most of the action was happening elsewhere.

Well, the Romans were pretty advanced for their time. But they were matched in terms of military and political strength by the Middle Eastern empires that came later, especially after the Schism.
But there were plenty of other empires in the Far East, in India, in the Middle East that were pretty much comparable to the achievements of the Romans. Different of course, but a similar level of prominence.
It was only really after the Renaissance that white culture really started to drastically outpace everyone else, and then keep rising further.
