No, I mean the second law of thermodynamics in the most literal sense. Energy must be conserved in accordance to the first law of thermodynamics. The second law basically declares that energy has a natural irreversible process. Post-scarcity requires endless resources, in which both higher forms of energy and matter must be endless. You cannot produce commodities without first having matter and a higher form of energy (potential energy) than the end result. Post-scarcity societies will still consume matter and energy, and some of that energy must be non-renewable. On the largest conceivable scale, the universe, this is represented as heat death.
