Funny thing is, his dad (the italian) even though he looks like a straight med, has blue eyes, so my friend ended up looking more aryan than usual.

Well, you're Portuguese, so you're probably biased. I love the Irish, but I am biased as I was born into a partially Irish upbringing; but I could see why they were considered as "the niggers of Europe". As for the Italian; they're not as "white" or "European" as they used to be, it just takes a quick glance to realize this. The Portugese people I know are funny and have treated me well since I'm quick to get along with most people, but they have all been morally bankrupt more or less, and none of them look white by most standards.

Most Italians are about as white as fucking Japs and Koreans, except Japs and Gooks are more similar to my Scandinavian upbringing so I'd honestly rather live near them. Aside from northern, quite isolated tribes of Italian people; they are mongrels for better and for worse.
