The Paris accord is important for the power it gives the US on the global stage. Pulling out of the agreement also signals to the rest of the world that previous agreements mean nothing under Trump. This will cause massive distrust in the ability of the US to honor agreements, which will permeate to future agreements. Pulling out of the agreement does significant damage to the global political clout of the US.
