Furthermore, my self-esteem would never be tied to the size of the Discord I moderate so even if I were the aforementioned sad motherfucker I wouldn't be on Sup Forums EVERY SINGLE NIGHT spamming links to my Discord to fight off the crippling depression that fills my life.

So do you remember Hawke/Keating/etc as badly as we remember Thatcher? Or do they get a pass for neoliberalism because they're Labor? (Or does the "Conservative = mean but smart, Labour = nice but dim" stereotype not carry to Liberal/Labor?)
How is the 1975 dismissal of Whitlam viewed today? It seems mildly extraordinary as an outside that it could've happened. (Even if for comparison, at the time certain elements of the armed forces were preparing to remove our Labour government...)
Becoming mildly fascinated with Australian and Kiwi politics since they seem even more nightmarish than British ones, but more distant because I never had to suffer under them.

Almost everyone loves Hawke Keating and Whitlam.
Whitlam fucked up and appointed a Governor General that didn't like him.
Yes labor generally gets a pass even though they are neo liberal as fuck. Our population is mostly retarded shit just like yours.
Looks like England didn't have a very good 80s. Ours was awesome.
Joseph Taylor
Australia and China have hardly anything in common, all Australia wants is to get China's money and most importantly cheap labor from all across Asia, most notably Indonesia, which is right near Australia.
Oliver Morales
What? They are burning in hell, Keating is alright.
Christian Rivera
They don't want to kill him yet, only make him soft so his fur can be plucked off easily, but kill him only when customers orders, so you get fresh meat.
Lincoln Martin
Why not skin them like a rabbit? Sounds like bullshit.
Hudson Miller
Rabbit is already dead when they skin them. They take fresh food seriously on street.
Henry Moore
Full disclosure, I am a paid up card-carrying member of the Socialist Alliance, and a big old Red. That said, I am more of an AnCom than a Leninist/Trot.
Hawke/Keating aren't remembered as poorly as Thatcher, partially because they gave a pretty solid package of concessions ('The Social Wage'/The Accord, google it if interested) to the working class and the union movement. While I obviously oppose the neoliberal policies, they hit a lot softer here because of Labor's approach to implementing it. It's still class-collaboration, but the pragmatic side of me thinks it did achieve much better results.
Our Labor party consequently has a slightly better reputation for economic management (for instance, the Labor government's approach to the financial crisis actually saw us through it without going in to recession) than your Labour. Our Libs have also done some stuff historically that was batshit insane (look up "Fightback Manifesto" if you want a laugh - there's "sensible" austerity, which I disagree with but can see the call for -- but go a step further and you hit thoughtless ideolological economy-wrecking)
The ousting of Whitlam is viewed pretty dimly by just about everybody; conservative-movement nationalists (I count a few among my close friends, despite politics) see it as British-American meddling, lefties see it in a very poor light; the only people who see it positively or even neutrally are a few Quadrant-reading holdover Better Dead Than Red cold warriors.
Christian Allen
Melbourne (even the nice parts) is shit. Niggers run rampant, judges let everyone out and the cops are faggots too busy fining people.
Government put 700 cops out in the bush to catch campers and dirt bike riders, instead of home invaders.
I HAVE MORE OF THIS. ENOUGH TO FILL HUNDREDS OF POSTS. EVERY NIGHT THERE ARE MULTIPLE VIOLENT INCIDENTS.
Blake Roberts
Chinese who sell street food believe it has to be fresh, else customers go elsewhere.
Blake Rogers
It's weird since I make the Blair association for Hawke and Keating (I've even heard Clinton's New Democrats and in turn Blair's New Labour were actually inspired by them.) but everyone here has the good grace to realize Blair was a terrible PM. (If only for Iraq and immigration.)
Pretty miserable to realize (even if it was always implicitly known) how global the neoliberal turn was. Carter/Reagan felt much more distant by merit of being American, Australia and NZ are close enough to bring it home a bit. (Particularly in the sense of inevitability, since in NZ it was national who held against it to their dying breath and Labour seemed to do a far faster neoliberal turn than even in Australia, and then nearly immediately National took up the Baton.)
Interesting stuff, although I have to ask if >actually saw us through it without going in to recession wasn't just delaying the inevitable (since my understanding, gleaned at least from Steve Keen and being willing to believe, is that the Australian housing market is still in a bubble. Then again, we went into a recession and ours almost certainly is, so it's really a choice whether to take the fish oil with sugar or without if so...)
Is Labor just out of power because of the Rudd/Gillard infighting, or is there a deeper reason to the Liberals having power right now?
And cheers to both of you for entertaining my questioning, of course.
Carson Adams
THE LUCKY COUNTRY
Brayden Garcia
Labor's gone so insane they've alienated the left.
The liberals get votes because they're the only remotely reasonable party capable of winning (sadly).
See those 2 posts i made above about melbourne crime. It's not just right wing people who are angry as shit. Lefties are furious because the greens teamed up with loggers and the ALP. Lefties are mad because the judges let an actual homophobic/racist gang out bashing people go free, to hurt a ton more minorities.
Our judges are so pathetic.
Oh and nanny stating. Non stop infringements on people's day to day freedoms has alienated a lot of people away from the left.
Jaxon King
Wtf. He opened up the joint to globalisation. He's just another slut. He does get a lot of respect though. I respect him for basically having no respect for the population even though he was PM. It's an important thing that you need to be a good leader imo. Especially when you're dealing with idiots like Australians.
That actually leaves me wondering a bit if Australia wasn't just vanilla neoliberalism, since it seems closer to our SDP contextually. (Although that's a bit sad, since usually one of the "roads not taken" is price-and-income-controls + post keynesian sort of thinking, but apparently they slot into neoliberal-transition just as well.)
At least people are mad, I suppose. They're more subdued here. >Non stop infringements on people's day to day freedoms has alienated a lot of people away from the left. Ah, I'd forgotten about the great E-barrier reef plans. 2008 almost feels like yesterday when you think about it, I was well paranoid they were going to do something similar here. (Instead they've just decided to let us view what we want, so long as it's not a torrent site, but take a note of it and let nearly anyone working in the public sector ask to see it...)
Luke Reyes
Well as I said the 80s was a really good decade for Australia, so they get a pass, even though they implemented the main changes to get globalisation/neoliberalism occurring.
Most people blame Howard for the big change, even though it was Labor that started it. The mid to late 90s was when things started to get ugly. Boomers started becoming pigs, the young became overconfident and deranged.
Cooper Collins
It's not just the big things. It's endless regulations on everything, such as licenses to pick up firewood that's fallen on the floor if you go camping.
Chainsaw license.
You have to do a OH and S course at a tafe to legally use a ladder over 2m.
Everyone is at breaking point on this nanny stating, left or right....it's 5% of the population needing to control every aspect of our lives and we're fed up.
Ian Turner
I can see it happening. They let more and more nigs in. Eventually we get for profit prisons like in the US.
Ian Morales
Agree. Socialistfag here, and a lot of people on the (social movement/union/far) left are really pissed off with this.
People I know are suggesting that we return safety back to a union duty (rather than State legisliation), because "hey shop steward, I think this is unsafe, can we fix it?" is a much better process than having some bureaucrat with no work experience come around and say "oh my heavens, that ladder looks unsafe, we should instate a $2000 ladder licence and a two week ladder course".
Easton Sanchez
>chinks >in auspol

Sebastian Green
Agreed, i think EVERYONE but the bureaucrats themselves fucking detests bureaucracy.
It's a kafkaesque nightmare in this country right now and we all should work on cutting the cancer out and then getting back to fighting amongst ourselves.
It's making it such a fucking shitty place to live for everyone, in so many little ways.
Aaron Flores
Lads, I need help getting a job. I don't like being a parasite on the taxpayer.
Alexander Edwards
Our enemies Trojan horsed our retarded politicians using their greed as the lure.
We've got about 200k job vacancies (source: ABS) at any given time, with 500k jobseekers plus 500k disability-recognised jobseekers (so can live on disability pension, but, like you, are seeking work so as to avoid parasitism).
It is fucking hard to fit 200k jobs into 1 million people. So keep looking for work, don't give up, but don't feel too bad about it personally or ethically.
The ruling class (including their bought-and-sold governments, corporate donors and Old Boy networks) have made their bed and ordered us to sleep in it, so let's not blame ourselves.
You actually think those jobs are there? Those are put up as a formality so they can say no one is taking the job so I guess I'll have to ask my cuz in India.
Its a major scam and our entire political state is corrupt.
Ethan Hernandez
People that hurt, kill or eat dogs should be shot
Sebastian Cruz
I don't even trust those stats, but it's hard to argue with normies about it. Trying to fit five people into one job is hard enough rhetorically that I don't bother about going into conspiracism when the official figures are already fucking dire.
The system is corrupt as fuck.
Austin Torres
thread still live?
>CRIMES ACT 1958 - SECT 45 >S. 45(4)(c) amended by No. 2/2006 s.9(1). >""" >(c) the accused satisfies the court on the balance of probabilities that he or she believed on reasonable grounds that he or she was married to the child.
this is the real shit boys. I've got a printed, highlighted copy I'm taking that shit to my senator as soon as he's in town if you don't have the legislative calendar bookmarked your a RPer. Basically everyone in this thread has good ideas and good arguments. Let's make it happen. Red-pill your senator. make the appointment. make them listen. Make them negotiate with the truth. They will lose.
Kayden Martin
Yep. And as i said last thread, no, federal law does NOT supercede it.
Federal law only prevents you marrying a child in australia. These muslims marry overseas, come here and then they can exploit this loophole to LEGALLY HAVE A CHILD BRIDE.
It's important you understand this is what bureaucracy gives us. Bureaucracy, nanny stating....it enables these evil fucks to hide in the shadows.
Bentley Turner
wouldn't the feds be able to prosecute the moment ahmed leaves victoria with his child bride?
this cunt gets it. the americans do the same thing.
Jaxson Brown
Yes, but in victoria he is free to fuck her. Legally.
Achmed (and possibly politicians or pedo judges) can legally fuck 12 year olds in victoria due to this loophole. This is what bureaucracy does and why it needs to fucking go NOW.
All this nanny stating shit is connected. It may not seem like the road rules are connected to a ban on firewood, but they are.
>More people required to enforce >More paperwork >More random crimes to make law abiding citizens into criminals >More tax money needed (which can later be stolen) >More room for sick fucks to hide and push all sorts of agendas
Bureaucracy must go, it's at the root of a NUMBER of evils plaguing our country. We need to stamp it out, then we can go after the evil fucks hiding within.
Like cockroaches when you turn the light on.

Want to know what's worse? They recently sent 700 cops away from melbourne to go into the bush and enforce this, plus fine dirt bike riders.

They are both edible. Quit being a faggot.
Aiden Gomez
do these people want another black saturday?
Gavin Lopez
Perhaps, there could be some jew goal here to make money off another bushfire.
Anyway, just one of many nightmarish scenarios cooked up by bureaucrats. Everyone, left or right has incentive to get these fucks out of our country.
We need to cut the nanny state. Everyone hates it but the fucks working for it. And if we cut the tumor out, it would encourage more companies to hire more people because less paperwork, so more jobs.
Also less shitty crap ruining people's day to day lives and less sick fucks like those vic pedos getting away with it.
Wyatt Ward
so are children you fuckhead, edibility doesnt mean you should eat the thing, what retarded kind of point is that
