I met a lot of people with different opinions. Simple people really liked communism. And I am not surprised at all. They had everything they needed, state actually took care of them. Also my family was one of the lucky ones. We had (and we still do) a lot of musicians in our family, which meant that they could go out of the country. So my grandfather always brought jeans with him home.
But I also heard stories about people trying to escape to Austria etc. Western countries actually took people from eastern countries in.
And my teacher told me how her father actually was some type of "owner" of restaurant, but state was the one giving people work there. The people never worked there and he couldn't do anything about it.
Overall, I don't really like it. Yes, it might help the lower class a lot, gypsies actually had work, all of them. But it will bring the middle class to lower level And the only "high" class were politicians and partisans who fought for communists.

My teacher (she is engineer) told us about how it was back then.
The state decided we need 500 engineers from year XXXX to XXYY So they only took 500 people in (university). Half of them dropped out and they only had 250 of them.
