The trend died I guess. All the goths and emos I used to know in highschool turned into regular hipsters. It's weird.

They became hipsters or normal functional people.

Goths got completely overrun and replaced by emo. To the point where all the people that identified as "goth" either became emo, or became normal people.

Then emo has basically been used as the stepping stone for getting children to take brain-altering hormones to try and get them to transition to the opposite sex, because kikes are fucking evil.

Former goth here. Still love the music and occasionally wear all black but I don't have crazy hair anymore or straighten it.

This is most likely true and I don't know much about the origins of all this shit but it's pretty clear to me now that hipsters, EDMs, and emos have appropriated many of each other's habits, clothing, and slang.

Some probably just don't like the attention you get when you get older and look silly with spiked hair, etc. I still listen to lots of gothic, industrial, darkwave music but you wouldn't tell I'm into that stuff by the way I dress now.

Emo scene destroyed the goth scene. Most kids who were in it for the trend splintered into that or other subcultures.

There are still a few goths around but they don't do shit publicly anymore as most have gotten older and have to blend with their jobs. Not that they would willingly seek out attention these days. They didn't want to be fucking main stream in the first place. The trend isn't that popular with high schoolers these days because most kids now know that smoking is fucking awful for you.

But don't think for a second that they have thrown our their black coat and kit, maybe the cassettes and CDs because you can get everything digitally now.

It got replaced by queer snowflakes. I mean the similarities are all there.

Most people that were part of them just seemed to hang up their uniforms and go peacefully into the night.

Goth was already dead before emo decided to wear its skin as a mask. Emo and Scene seemed more like a punk knee-jerk reaction to what killed off a lot of the culture that died in the 90's. Still, it never seemed like these movements had any real passion behind them.

I remember goths and metalheads being absolutely everywhere back between 00-2006 or so.
Then their numbers started dwindling.
Naturally most people started growing up when they started nearing their 20s and cut their hair and calmed down a bit, so that's one reason.
And I do know for a fact that a lot of the goths became hipsters and SJWs, which is pretty damn strange.
Mostly the ones that never grew out of the teen rebel phase.
Used to hang around goths a whole lot now that I think about it, I kinda miss them. That era reminds me of the time when I first discovered Sup Forums.
They were pretty down to earth chill nerdy people in general.
Also I'd like to see goth chicks to make a comeback, those clothes are pretty sexy.

Most emos became other types of edgy because they still need outlets for their disappointment and distaste in life. The sad thing is, while scene kids were typically "lets be happy to cover the sadness" and emos were their own sadness bubbles, todays alternative kids are mostly outwards angry, SJW edgelords. I'm talking the "I hate white faggots, kill cops" types. Those who became hipsters were never really emo to begin with. The music scene is hell and I've been kicked out of several groups for not being a self-hating white dude.

The emos I still hang out with are in it for the music still, as am I. We know its shitty, but its fun. Politically I'm somewhere in the alt-right, I guess I'm a rare combo. I think I realize my music taste/everything else could not exist in a different environment and I want to protect my subculture.
