>hey goy spend trillions of dollars on a fucking pipe that shoots invisible things at invisible things and nothing happens

berenstein

i don't believe (((they))) literally spent more than 20 billion just for "curiosity" considering how careful (((they))) are with their money

>large hardon collider

...

Reddit is legit cancer these days, it was always joked about but the censorship reigns supreme and has for the last few months.

Absolute fucking cancer.

All you need to do is watch the opening ceremony

It's why we're in the timeline that we're in right now
They fucked up and set us on this one and now they're trying to throw more money at it in hopes of leaving

...

youtube.com/watch?v=oChedPBBdhE&index=3&list=FLEKOuO4tCAqYUb1iKd6NFAg

This is why there are no conservatives in science

jewtube.com/watch?v=koQZt019P8g

Four seat Lincoln.

you have no idea of their true intentions. They already control most of the world, while their true plans and intentions lie in the occult sciences which has been running Science for many years now.

I mean Reddit is shit because the site format encourages forcing out differing opinions, the other side of that coin is you can make your own subreddit and censor as much or as little as you want.

>video link ends in fag
Delet this.

The idea was to crack timelines and open up interdemensional trade and economic activity

Fools are paying for their hubris

Giant Jew circle(jerk) for Science.

...

No.

Crazy rich people like to spend money on crazy science stuff

Why? It's for science purposes to study the small shit that happens between atoms and inside them. There's nothing to redpill you on it unless you're a particle or high energy physicist, if you're anything else you're not going to understand shit about it.

The Jews want to open a portal to another dimension. They want to contact the entity they worship, Moloch they call it.

What is a large hadron?

It's not just a "curiosity" It would have cost more not to know. The LHC is an example of money being used efficiently and practically.

What is 20 billion if you can make it out of thin air?

Ignorant people just won't get it and would rather read about conspiracies surrounding the place. It's useless to tell them that.

youtube.com/watch?v=OKqFkDBWXSc&t=0s

Protons and neutrons and a few other particles.

You can't be this stupid.

Isnt CLIMATE CHANGE the problem? How does the Hadron Collider fix climate change?

Where does it say the LHC is going to fix climate change? The LHC is used to study the interaction of particles.

Dumb excuse to take goy money + easy money laundering

Name one fucking thing that was discovered at the big black hardon collider that benefited the human kind

If climate change is the biggest fucking world ending problem that will make humans go extinct, why are the eggheads studying smashing particles? Shouldn't almost 100% of all scientific research be going into finding a solution for the planet ending threat?

>i don't believe (((they))) literally spent more than 20 billion just for "curiosity" considering how careful (((they))) are with their money
>What is 20 billion if you can make it out of thin air?
Switzerland (mountain Jews) can make money whenever they want (or take money from Europe Unionstan)

Because most physicists aren't dedicating their lives to geology, climatology, meteorology, biology or other fields that include the spectrum of climate change. Scientists aren't like how they make them in tv shows, user, they don't know everything single thing there is to know about all science. PhD holders have very specific fields of study and dedicate their careers and lives to that study.

They're trying to summon Satan and are colluding with the greys to fake the moon landing. Btw the sun isn't real and neither is your pancreas.

they're hoping that it will help bring our doom.

Not everybody knew the fossil fuel industry would fuck us when they went to school 30 years ago. Not everybody is willing to waste their life. By learning about how particulate - the fucking fundamental building block and force of the universe - operates it is reasonable to expect to understand how to alter or influence those operations. Metamaterials are likely to be a fundamentally game changing introduction and without CERN we wouldn't have much leeway on it.

Science is not a hierarchy of importance. Fucking everything can kill the earth, but having a biologist who wrote his masters on planarians working on climate change wouldn't do a damn thing.

Think about it, it's like asking a cosmologist about why he hasn't tried making a cure for cancer.

conservative of science here

there's nothing shady about the large hadron collider. it's just a really expensive physics experiment that shows us very important things about the fundamental nature of the universe. the eggheads involved are literally too egghead to have any kind of political or criminal motivations

> People have different interested and natural ability

Why are there such high numbers of people with learning disabilities on pol?

The key to gravity, you know the thing it was built to find and the thing most physicists have been working on for a century.

Are you implying that science is stupid?

Sure you aren't thinking of the LIGO?

I don't know but they're doing all sorts of weird Satanic shit over in Europe nowadays

youtube.com/watch?v=zW5gklIKcDg

I guess I don't exist then.

t. EE PhD

EE is pretty conservative as an industry. I've not found many hippies there. speaks truth

Pretty big difference between a nip conservative and a U.S conservative.

soooo did they ever find that higgs boson thing they were looking for?

> Japan
> Conservative

Aren't you the guys who made tenticle porn and invented used panty vending machines?

Pretty much this. Nothing has come from this fucking 100 trillion device. Also you can do the very same thing with 100 grand with a smaller unit.

Please go on and expand user.

So basically they don't care about climate change and just wanna continue smashing atoms and shit, so why should I care?

yuri go home

>Why are there such high numbers of people with learning disabilities on pol?

autism

Yeah, and that's about it. Actually about the worst possible outcome for them, since nothing unexpected happened. And thus the question arises as to whether they are worth the fundingn.

>autism
>disability
Oh, leaf, you have SO much to learn.

Most of us are very conservative.
Republicans give us the most funding. Whenever a democrat is in power they slash the military budget and thus the scientist who work for them.

t.chemist employed the gov for the past 12 years.

you idiots realize the hadron collider is why they discovered the Higgs-Boson particle right?
you know... the God Particle?
heraladed as the holy grail of physics discoveries?
THAT HADRON COLLIDER?

If you idiots think that's
>nothing
than you're really just about as stupid as the average normie

Because they aren't climate scientists. They don't study the climate because that's not where their skills are. Saying they don't care about climate science because they don't study it is like saying you don't care about money because you aren't a Jew.

They care, it's just not their specialty. I care about finding a cure for cancer, doesn't mean I know how to. It's like asking a doctor who enjoys the thought of being multiplanatery species why he isn't helping to make a space ship, it's important idea but he doesn't know anything about the mechanism the logistics, the operation, etc. Come on, user. Just go to bed and stop being retarded.

So go private sector if you don't want to worry about the politics?

>he thinks this will help anyone other than rich jews

..... Why are so many on pol this mentally challenged ?

Like you shouldn't be proud you chased down some washed up movie stars flag and then sole it.

Not OP but I assume his issue is this: why? It's so costly, what will be the result that will be equal to the enormous cost? There are many other experiments and scientific questions that are pressing issues, but they don't get funding, why would people spend money on this? What is the practical motivation for its construction? Obviously there's scientific motivation and epistemological motivation, but what about practical, productive motivation?

No, LHC confirming that mass is given by the Higgs mechanism will be the key to understanding gravity.

Yeah, and then watch the opening ceremony for that tunnel that went through that mountain in Switzerland.

youtu.be/zW5gklIKcDg

it's science
it expands our understand of the universe and the rules that govern it
science isn't supposed to have direct practical applications you doofus

but very likely the Higgs Boson particle discovery will in fact help people invent wonderous technologies later on in the future
for all we know its discovery could lead to other discoveries that lead to things like cold fusion or faster than light space travel

>scientists can't change their field of research
>even in case of a world ending threat
>i'm the retarded one

If you put a microwave on to of a TV it does literally the same thing

It's a unknown known, we don't know what this will bring.

When dudes started making lightbulbs and sending radio waves they didn't think people one day would be shit posting on the internet.

Maybe it will yield nothing maybe something cool will come of it.

It's just money, you can always print more of it.

The majority of the money spent on it was donated money from many countries across the world. It's not like people went to people's doors and said "hey give me 100 dollars, we're building this big ass thing that has nothing to do with you." It matters to people who have the jobs to use, maintain and keep the place running, and to the Universities and private companies that benefit from using the facility. You might think it's a useless toy, but it isn't.

From which University? National? (Tokyo?Kyoto? Nagoya? Touhoku? Toukoudai? Hokkaido? Osaka?) Or Particular?(Waseda? Keiyou?)

We have accepted that we'll fund particle physics because we like cellphones and stuff. If we didn't build the LHC those physicists would have been spending their funding on research that we now know is not valid, it saves money.

that may be true but i guarantee you some way somehow someone's taxes went to helping pay for it

> He thinks creating a worm hole to a parallel earth where people didn't pollute we can conquer isn't a solution to climate change

You are retarded user.

Because climate research is fucking boring for me, a science career sure as hell doesn't pay that good, especially here, so most people go to it for their curiosity regarding the way nature works.
I prefer to 'waste' my time in 'useless' pure math or theoretical physics than curing cancer or whatever other crap there is.

>heraladed as the holy grail of physics discoveries?
It's nothing of the kind, though. The popsci mags are always saying that kind of BS to make it sound like something great is happening in fundamental physics, when it has actually been pretty slow for decades.

They found the lowest energy (of possibly many) Higgs particles which are required to give mass to the bosons in the quantum field theory describing the weak nuclear force. The reason it was required is that the framework requires the gauge bosons to be massless (which was fine for electromagnetism because photos are massless), but the W/Z bosons have a rest mass. Cool, but not super important - it just indicates that the underlying idea was sound.

Forgot to post pic, so great was my amusement at the idea of a scientist not being able to change his field of research.

this. biochemistry and physics take very different mindsets, different mental approaches, and just a different personality. I personally could never do the shit theoretical physicists do, while i consider my shit to be easy, when others dont.

t. someone working in a cancer research lab

Then you should have said PURE science. APPLIED science is its own thing.

Trolling as fuck.

>cool but not important
you can undersell it all you want
but a lot of damn people were celebrating that shit
and most of them were a bunch of scientists

idc if it's the crappy plastic silver grail of science it's still a scientific discovery and helped expand our understanding of physics
but according to the articles i read it pretty much changed our understanding of a lot of physics laws

The LHC cost like 15 billion. If you want to be pissed about unnecessary science expenditure take your fight to that 150 billion dollar money pit instead. At least then you'll get a large fraction of the scientific community who agree with you.

Us bitching about Bill Nye and other retards might actually work if people like you would just shut the fuck up.

There is a lot of Cancer posts in Sup Forums to research. You are in the right place.

I would say less money than you pay on the portion of car taxes that goes to the library.

>that 150 billion dollar money pit instead
what 150 billion dollar money pit?

Whatever your tax dollars fun the aerospace industry too. Also the military which wastes a fuck ton of money on nonsense.

Cern does other shit too, like they work on kicad for instance.

> it just indicates that the underlying idea was sound.

That is literally what science experiments are.

>thinking wondrous technology will exist after the global warming destroys the planet

The ISS.
>Changed part of the sentence... accidentally deleted the subject of the post.

That's how it worked in the past, but it seems to me that this is no longer the case. Fundamental research has almost no practical application anymore. I think this is very unfortunate, but I do think it is the case. Quantum Electrodynamics is the most useful of the quantum theories, and it didn't involve much experimentation to arrive at. (It followed from spectroscopy & wave mechanics/matrix mechanics and Maxwell's electrodynamics.) Experiments have been great for verifying it, however. Most of the technologically relevant experiments don't occur at a fundamental level.

This is a mislabeling, right? This isn't actually the ribbon cutting for a tunnel?

> Thinking we can't use physics magic to conquer other plants or parallel earths.

My guess is earths where they took care of the planet are weak people, we can easily take over. Once we can slide between parallel earths we can pollute all we want and just leave when it gets bad.

Physics nerds will deliver

>but a lot of damn people were celebrating that shit
I agree it was a positive outcome. I was excited too. I just don't feel it was worth the price, which is enormous.

>according to the articles i read it pretty much changed our understanding of a lot of physics laws
Those articles were dead wrong. It actually matched perfectly with the theoretical predictions of the already accepted theory: the Weinberg-Salam model. Nice, but not very useful.

thankfully id rather do cell culture than try and elucidate a chan's cult of personality.

>> it just indicates that the underlying idea was sound.
>That is literally what science experiments are.
It's one of the possible outcomes of an experiment. Very useful when it is instead regarding a fringe theory. When it validates the already accepted theory, it's still useful, but not very.
