If you read more, you'll learn that almost every kind of contemporary popular music in Western countries is derived from a combination of the blues and gospel music. There is no cultural purity in music traditions. Even metal and country have these roots. Perhaps the only exception would be Gaelic reels and the like, but they're outdated now and will never be massively popular.
